The people who do very well on EU1 and NA1 are still the people who wade into combat with heavy armour spamming hits from 2hand or a fast pole. Yes they're talented blockers, but they also can afford to take a ton of hits, i'm often amazed after i rambo and die like a boss that i'm spectating people at the top of the scoreboard and they can take 5+ solid hits and stay moving, that feels broken.

And we arent talking about Str-builds, these are invariably people with agi-orientated balanced builds who favour acrobatics and circlejerking to blocking although i'm sure they're perfectly capable blockers they just dont need to bother. Spectate Gallonigher on NA1 and GTX on EU1 to see how many fricking hits they can take whilst having a very very fast attack/feint and backpedal speed. Yes i know armour reduces movement speed, not enough.

Aim for the head.

If more weight is going to be added to plate, a damage bonus should be added for wearing full set of heavy. Plate would be useless especially on DTV. I personally don't think heavy armor should be adjusted.

No need to buff cav, still the strongest class in the game i would say. Other than that everything seems agreeable.

I agree. There is really no need to buff cav.

Someone please fix the lag.....

Temporary bolstering of population, then onwards to the final death

It's better than nothing. Panuru for new c-rpg project leader!!

Best game in the world when you aren't couched at spawn by cavs with great lances, or getting killed by someone with higher tier weapon and armor than you, even thought he can't block a shit. Being 1h no shield is a true challenge considering the lags and the balance, and also the lack of people to cover you (15v15 means there are 10 guys with a 2h/pole/horse weapon in one team).

I don't think they need to balance anything else. I've played most builds(thank you free respect once a week!)besides cav and found that only archery and xbows may need a boost. I think fixes should be #1 on the agenda. Don't release a patch with out a follow up patch...Next should be some new content. I think Stats and Leader boards would be a great addition to this mod and to me it doesn't sound to hard to implement. Keep track of kills, swings, blocks, arrows shot, headshots, DTV kills, DTV boss kills, Couch kills, Fist kills, Kick kills, Kills with weapon, Favorite weapon, etc. Have the stats connected to the website  like the "tavern level leaderboard" and add reward tiers to it. Extra exp, extra gold etc.

It's painful to watch you idiots complain about the mod being dead while I enjoy it still being alive and well. There's not much else I can do but keep pointing out that you guys are wrong and inviting people to join us in Strat and NA 1. You can lead a horse to water but you cannot make him drink.

(click to show/hide)

It's not dead yet but people are slowly quitting and losing hope for m:bg. I am, that's for sure, and it's only because of the teams not communicating with the community(Donkey crew's customers) or involving the community in development with c-rpg or m:bg. Which then leads us back to your comment and people complaining. Most of the complainers are honestly just trying to help... I'm sure all of us appreciate everything donkey crew has done with this mod and all the time they put into, shit they got 40k for it plus whatever was donated, and it showed on their ks that they could of got another 40k. I personally think the donkey crew screwed up by linking c-rpg to m:bg, especially adding the forums on here. Would of been a good idea if they actually had a team working on c-rpg updating and fixing previous patches, especially after their kickstarter.... This just kind of gives them a bad track record on maintaining/supporting a mod even if they have been working on it for the past 3-4 years. Will they be able to develop and keep supporting their own game? Gotta look at the big picture here...

The "retarded horses" are trying to proactively prevent their favorite mod/game from completely dying. At least that's the case for me.

That's a not very smart thing to say.
It's their mod, their baby. Whatever happens to it is for them to decide. There is no "new team".

c-rpg team, not the donkey crew.

Kickstarter isn't dead for video games. Shadowrun: Hong Kong from Harebrained Schemes (they already had successful Kickstarter two year ago and released two very good games) collected over 400000 USD in 48 hours, their goal was 100000 USD.

Reason for M:BG failure can't be just Kickstarter, there is obviously something else that led to it. You need better marketing, real hype and people who can pull it off.

"The team that brought you the award-winning Shadowrun Returns and Shadowrun: Dragonfall - Director’s Cut is back with an all new, full length standalone cyberpunk tactical cRPG set in Shadowrun's magically Awakened Hong Kong of 2056."

"Melee: Battlegrounds is a pre-alpha stage standalone, 100% independent game being developed as the spiritual sequel to the popular Mount & Blade Warband mod cRPG"

mod is dying of age... let it rest in peace, enjoy it while it lasts...

Current c-rpg team and donkey crew are letting the mod die, not age. People are still playing doom 2(final doom) multiplayer, same with old mmorpgs like everquest and ultima online etc etc. Games only die when the developers stop supporting the game/mod.

It's obvious the current c-rpg team is not motivated to work on this mod anymore. Should just give it up and recruit a new team.

The thing is that "reforge" exchanges your +3 item for 2 loompoints, whereas "exchange" lets you exchange your +3 item for another +3 item. Two different things. It's written in the description before you confirm the action anyway. :P

We all make mistakes, and you never know, maybe the confirm window never came up or something...

Dutch, don't give up. just don't expect any of the team members to jump on it. All of them have been pretty unresponsive lately, but i'm sure harald would help if he saw the post .

Native is as strong as ever in NA. I can't speak for EU, but Native might even be stronger this year than it was last year. Throughout the years, Native has had a relatively high turnover of players when compared to cRPG. There's only a few names that are repeated more than months at a time, and the same goes for clans (with the exception  of BkS, maybe) in Native.

I assume after playing Native with greater frequency in the last month that the vast majority of players are extremely new- even in duel and battle, game modes where the more experienced players used to congregate. cRPG is different. Yes, there are only a minority of oldshits left, but they communicate more amongst themselves than the Native players do, having fewer servers to choose from.

This is a legacy culture. The average cRPG player has no trouble consistently topping Native scoreboards, even when clans are involved. This is because knowledge of the game and how best to use it's mechanics were passed down with greater frequency. In addition, cRPG players have always dealt with a larger variety of builds- constantly changing over the years, which means their skills are more developed. It is easier to deal with a single set of variables than an ever changing array.

The learning curve for Warband is hard (when compared to, say, Counter-Strike or Chivalry) but the learning curve for cRPG is flat out ridiculous.

Clans (with one or two exceptions) have pretty much degenerated into loose groups of buddies. This was the vehicle that was once relied upon to induct new players into the cRPG killing fields. It is gone. Instead, we have a couple dozen individuals who make inside jokes and are full of caustic criticism. And yes, I remember the Alt-X days of old- recall that the behavior of that sort was the exception rather than the rule.

These are not rose tinted glasses. The game itself has improved by leaps and bounds, and the super serious community of old had its fair share of dysfunction. Just a different brand of dysfunction.

So what does Native have on cRPG, beyond marketing and a significantly larger community? It has populated deathmatch, duel, and siege servers. It's not that there aren't players out there who would find the mod fun and be willing to bear the learning curve, even revel in it.

It's that there's simply no real opportunity to learn.

Learning a new skill requires constant feedback, and Battle does not provide that. What we need is thriving duel, deathmatch, and siege community. Duel for the player to learn the basics. Deathmatch to have fun while dealing with multiple opponents, and siege to bring it all together. With these game modes combined, you have a perfect newbie boot camp that can still be fun, for anyone willing to run through it.

Find a way to promote these game modes and raise them to prominence in this community and you will reinvigorate the mod.

Helping new players out, even when they appear rude or idiotic doesn't hurt, either.

I totally agree with you but, don't forget DTV!

We are getting a good amount of new players but obviously the learning curve is too much for most of them and the rest probably read the boards and see a bunch of negative posts, plus the donkey team and c-rpg team is being unresponsive. I'm sure that demotivates them in putting anymore time into c-rpg..

Anyways, I just thought of something that could possibly help, but the c-rpg community is going to have to work together to make it happen. We should set up a community event on the duel server twice a week to help all the newbies out. Answer questions, suggest clans to join or recruit, teach mechanics etc. One weekday and one weekend, both for EU and NA, try to make it at prime time or maybe even make it twice a day. market the shit out of it on the forums, in game, on steam, etc put it on the front page of all of them if that's possible and keep refreshing it. Make this a recurring weekly or bi weekly event. I'm down to help out with setting these up....

Okay, sorry, but, I stopped reading here and came up with a great idea.

What if we just change the name and tell people that its a new mod? They'll never know the difference.

This actually works perfectly in the gaming industry, example:

"Marvel Heroes originally received mixed reviews; on the aggregate review website Metacritic the game attains an overall score of 59 out of 100 based on 38 critic reviews and 6.6 out of 10 user score based on 675 user ratings. .[16] IGN gave the game a 5.7/10, praising the story but criticizing the combat and limited customization. The game was relaunched later with the title "Marvel Heroes 2015", following various improvements and new content implemented over time. On Metacritic, the game attains a score of 81 out of 100 based on 10 critic reviews and 8.1 out of 10 user score based on 506 user ratings"

Marvel heroes 2015 is also in the lead for most improved mmorpg of the 2014  on mmorpg.com 8-)

This is definitely a poor example of running a "business" and a good way for ruining your reputation. A lot of customers who funded and planned on funding m:bg in the future are losing trust in the c-rpg team which reflects poorly on the donkey crew. Lack of transparency and communication = no trust. One simple post from a developer or someone in charge would be all it took. example:

"yes we are alive and working on both c-rpg patch and m:bg game. our plan is to hopefully release a patch for c-rpg in the next month and for m:bg, we strategizing and organizing a more detailed campaign to set up in the future. In the mean time, we are still using the funds from previous funding to keep development going on the game. New update in the next coming weeks..."

Took me 10 seconds to type that up.... C'MON MAN!

None of you, or the team from what i know have worked in the gaming industry or has ever worked on a title. You guys don't have that reputation like richard garriott, Dave Brevik, or Warhorse Studios. Warhorse Studios may be people you look up to cause of their "Indie game" campiagn success, but if you look at the people who are working on it, they are all veterans in the gaming industry.

"Daniel Vávra (ex-2K Czech - Mafia 1, Mafia II) - game designer, screen writer.[4]
Martin Klíma (ex-Altar Games - Fish Fillets, Original War, UFO trilogy; ex-Codemasters - Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising) - executive producer
Viktor Bocan (ex-Bohemia Interactive - Operation Flashpoint, ArmA 1; multiple games for Nintendo DS, XBLA, iPhone etc.) - game designer, screenwriter
Zbyněk Trávnický (Mafia 1, Mafia II; Perfume: The Story of a Murderer, Tristan + Isolde) - animator and CG/FX specialist"

It was easy for them to get funded cause people TRUSTED these developers, designers, producers, animators etc. All of them are well KNOWN game industry veterans with a good track record of releasing fun successful games. Donkey crew or c-rpg team has none of those... so you guys need to make up for that in transparency and communication.

This message is not intended to bash anyone on the team.

Hmm how does this make me unsuited? Please explain.

The 3 of us only found the mod because we wanted a coop version of M&B, Nazi-Zombies style, and DTV was great for that back in the day.

Same here, I only found c-rpg cause I watched some videos of DTV. I  spent my first year on DTV server before I even touched Battle or Siege server(I got owned on every time I joined battle or siege)

The C-rpg team should really put a little more love into DTV, making new maps, new bosses, and maybe even adding rewards for kills or something(more exp each round, timelimit and exp gain should be adjusted, and maybe even a reward for beating the game...). I think putting some love into DTV will bring back some players, help current noobies and bring in some new players to c-rpg.
