General Discussion / Re: Players of 2010

Well you have to grind some gold to be able to play through bad rounds or you can start using the market place and trade heirlooms to gain gold... That's only if you have the patience to wait for good deals so you don't lose all dem loomz in the process :D.

Also heavy gear isn't all that OP anymore. Heavy cavalry being very effective still but nothing like 2010. The average skill level is something else these days as well. I think you would enjoy it. Some challenge to claim back your throne :D.

Yeah, I got no illusions. This mod already had insanely good players back when I played in 2010. Can't even imagine how good everyone has become since then. I on the other hand would have to start training again from zero. It really would be an awesome challenge and epic if I could do it. But I fear its totally impossible for me if cavalry has really been nerfed to the ground in its cost effectiveness.

Granted the charge damage was too high for heavy cavalry back in 2010, but they might have gone overboard in the nerfing of cavalry in general (and maybe nerfed the wrong things ?) If they ever balance cavalry's cost effectiveness to other gear I'll come back to play a little cRPG. :) I'll keep Fallen in mind. :)

Heavy cavalry is the only kind of cavalry that is roughly playable, but globally sucks compared to 2010. And no I don't play cav anymore.

And heavy cavalry is still so expensive its unplayable ? Sigh, what a pity. :( Would have been nice to ride on the fields of battle once more. ( ...and on castle walls :P ! )

The Finn :0 missing ypu

That guy was the first one that made me an impression with his tank horse, always topping the scoreboard with scores like 30-0

the best thing was when he got dismounted after billions of hits and he just stood up and took his looney tunes axe and spammed every1 to death :) I miss that awesome guy

The Finn, Boulder, Looney's and this couchlance with somewhat around 380 lenght, I'm missing ya

There's good memories, and bad ones.

Finn is definitely a good memory, gave you the incentive to play.

I hated the playstyle of XP Barn's map, though i loved the easy gold.

Thank you. :) I miss you guys as well. :)

I miss being able to play as heavy cavalry. :,(  .   .     .

The elegant and noble Plated Charger with a heavy lance and shield. Actual ground combat melee weapons are completely optional and should be regarded as only fashion accessories. :P

Look who's back.

Well, your only advantage is no more. Have fun sucking.

Why the hate ?? I never claimed to be a great player, I always admitted gear gave the longer played players a too big advantage and that heavy cavalry's charge damage was too high. I'm not responsible for the imbalances. I just played the game.

All the players who had played for a longer time could afford what ever gear we wanted and the battle between us was fair. (If you were a peasant back then, then I totally understand the hate, even as I'm not responsible for the imbalance.)

And I'm not back. Just visited the forum to see what's up at good old cRPG. :) And regardless of everything if I would start playing again I would suck really really badly as it has been almost 2 years since I played. :)

Cris, "Assyrian" (light cavalry player), Pululu, Dexxta and ToMMyyyyY are one of the most underappreciated old guard players. There are a lot more forgotten great players, but sadly I've forgotten their names. :/

I think he was talking about Finn (Plated Charger Finn). Unless the DoG Fin and Finn Tincan with Plated Charger was/is the same?

No, we are not the same guy. :)

Told ya :D But thought he left cuz of upkeep? U telling me he left cuz of admin/devs? :P

Admins refusing to punish team killers/wounders made the mod unplayable for me. Even video evidence of the team killing/wounding didn't get the admins to punish the people doing it. Why they refused ? I don't know. Maybe they just hated me. Some of the inner circle raged sometimes when I got lucky kill/death rounds. Heavy cavalry was way too overpowered back then. (Haven't played in years so don't know about the situation now.) All this said I didn't really like the new upkeep cost system either for some reason :P !

Hmm, other Finn was a Druzhina for a while I think, or atleast I saw him on DRZ TS often back in the days.

At least _TheFinn_ (alias "Mr Plated Charger") was never in Druzhina. :)

He was a Turk or a Finnish guy or a turk living in Finland IIRC.

_TheFinn_ is a 100% Finn living in Finland. :) I just sometimes talk in foreign languages in an attempt to be funny. :P

So in this game can you select your own weapons and upgrades ? Do you have any control over how the fights go ? Because so far it seems I randomly get the upgrades and I have absolutely no control in battle either.

Suggestions Corner / Re: Gold/Experience on Kills
« on: March 26, 2011, 05:57:16 pm »

The shit I am doing usually (next to writing into teamchat while I am STILL ALIVE, to coordinate the team a bit and suggest some tactics or pointing to a mistake the other team makes or shit. Yes, really, it's not "everyone for himself" on the field  ) often makes my team win. Which I think makes me a better player than most others. Making kills doesn't change anything. I saw Finn being in the losing team for 10 rounds in a row before the patch. Instead of lolstomping everything he could have written some short commands into teamchat, I bet the team would have followed them (mostly). Of course this would have costed time he could have used for killing people, so his stats would look worse. But he would have won more rounds, I bet.

If chadz would follow your suggestions, Finn would be rewarded for first behaviour (egoistic killing spree, losing the round), and punished for latter (setting up tactics, playing as a team). I think it should be the other way round. And that's the case, at the moment. I hope this will never change, and I am confident it won't.

Heheh, funny you take me as the example of a "Ugh, me smash!"-warrior type who gets a large k/d-ratio, but loses matches and a polar opposite to "the playing as a team"-player :D When it was tactics and playing with the team what made me win, get kills and bumb over enemies so our melee could get easy kills.

As for seeing me lose 10 rounds in a row ? Hmm... It's possible. My memory is really rusty, but I do know that 10 round losing streaks weren't that common. :)

Game Balance Discussion / Re: Steel Pick (continued discussion)

Can't use one without thinking I'm playing like Finn or Thulsa Foom, and vomiting. Despite the crushthrough removal.

i got no problem own  finn with my 100 speed long eslavona.

...?

Is there a new player in cRPG who's in game name is "Finn" or is this a case of mistaken identity again ?

I never used the morning star or any other crush through block weapon, but a heavy lance. And while mounted I didn't die all that often to a long eslavona.

Is there a new guy playing called "Finn" or what are they talking about ?

Strategus General Discussion / Re: Strategus History

The Templars vs 22nd war isn't in the history yet.

In my own biased opinion the biggest reason the Templars lost to DRZ was how powerful archers were for their cost at the time. Desertion, infiltrators (?) clearing rosters, people responsible for buying equipment not being there were all less significant in deciding the war than the raw power and advantage archers had (for their cost) at the time.
