Got this game for my nephew to play - i had an eye on it for a while but waited for a sale c_c
Tried to help him get into the game-play
Solved some hard parts for him - god, didnt think the game was so hard after the looks
Got addicted and played the game through in one go :3
Still  wasnt satisfied and maxed all skills, found all items/buffs - All in all about 5 days i think for first run with exploring, figuring stuff out, enjoying it
Boy came back and solved some parts i spent like 10 tries on in 1-3 runs t_t
Now sitting and impatiently hoping for a next part of the game

Pro's:
Non violent - quite sad and a bit scary at times (for a kid at least) - you can play it without having to kill alot of the mobs - later you actually use the mobs to reach spots in the map and to move around faster
Pretty much bug free as far as i can tell
Has a huge world to explore - you need to return to alot of places if you want  the buffs later on though(need to aquire certain skills)
Great story and music - simply awesome
Really challenging your gaming and puzzling skills at times - very tempting to get some buffs without having required skills yet - alot of fun :D
Very immersive and addictive
Has some replay value
Nice skill tree - nothing special but it fits very well into the game
... loved the end of some  "world events", where after solving the quests, the real action starts - the escaping the place

Con's:
Eventhough it has an open world, its ment to be played story driven and there are some imbalances if you opt for exploring first, before playing the story, as i always do :3
Not a real Con, but I wished for a coop/hot chair gameplay in the game

Its really worth it, even for grown up gamers ... not just a kids game!

I decided to make a new topic from a planned response to Senni_Ti's post in the SUMMER SALE! thread, since it became longer than planned.
My problem is, that im in doubt about ALIEN ISOLATION but i might want to get it on steam summer sale :3

(click to show/hide)

Is Alien Isolation worth it ?

I mean, im really interrested. The movies where a big part of my childhood scifi experiance and i loved and watched them a hundred times ... means, i am quite a fan.
Yet i kinda doubt that the game delivers the ultimate ALIENS experiance because of the strange approach they took ... pure survival and story driven as it seems ... not that its an uninterresting way to go but its ... well strange.
I really dont wanna hurt my memories of the good old movies more than the newer movies did; lucky i didnt play the other games (asides from older ones) because they seem to have been quite bad.

Question remains ... is it worth it as an revival of the franchise as a game and an deep dive into the ALIENS universe? Did they deliver the first ALIENS movie mood as promised ? Is it sufficient to make the game playworthy or does it end up with a feeling of cheap FX-spam ?

Lets maybe compare it to the Prometheus movie in relation to ALIENS, which is by far not a perfect movie, but still transports a surprizingly fascinating and inspiring view.

(Sorry for the long write, i hope i did get my point accross of what i expect from a game that tries to get right at the heart of ALIENS)

What, no thread yet ? Well, then i give it a shot ...

I got into RE franchize with Resident Evil 5 which i really liked eventhough i hate zombie games(!).

But lets talk about RE: Revelations 2:
For me CAPCOM simply did alot of things right this time, but not only that.
Particularly, they managed to identify and pick the right base to improve on from the older parts AND managed to improve on it really well, to a point that let my gamer heard jump around quite a bit ...

What "base" do i mean? Asides from graphics and chicks which i really like in the RE games ...
- Good story telling and pace of the story.
- well made combat with the unique RE combat style
- Included endgame content and gameplay modules that complete the franchize:
  - Raid Mode
  - 2-Player-Coop
Those are the things that make RE games great (imo) and they picked it up and did it really well ... really, really well

But what blew me away, is how well they improved on it ... For me a real tip on the hat towards gamers for me is the improved coop play and the way they did it. Not only the coop play but also the solo gameplay with two characters benefits imensly from that.
*** SPOILER ALERT ***

*** END SPOILER ALERT ***

I can only have the upmost respect for the concept and execution of game development here.

Additionally the nice new character costumisation with gear upgrade system (from Revelations 1) is now expanded by an all new skill tree where you can spend points on to improve caracter abilities like damage with certain attack styles and other things.

And the ~22€ i invested into the Four (long) episodes plus Coop Mode PLUS Raid Mode i consider well spent in this case  :D

EU (Official) / Give Fullchicken87 some time to think please
« on: February 25, 2015, 11:06:25 pm »
BAN REQUEST FORM:
1. Name of your character involved
Arielle_the_little_Mermaid

2. Name of offending character(s)
Fullchicken87

3. Time and server, as accurately as possible
around 22:40 25.2.2015

4. Written description of what happened, the whole story. Also what happened before and after.
I really cant remember anything that might have offended him or led him to act agressively ... it was more like he didnt even understand what he was doing (like the 6 years old son of some guy was playing hsi game -- in which case, the owner of the account deserves a time to overthink what he is doing aswell imo)
So .. the story is short and pretty precise from my end :
Fullchicken87 started team attacking everyone, right after round start for multiple successive rounds ... nothing noticable happened otherwise .. but people reporting him or teamattacking him back in selfdefense  until he died ...

5. Why you think the offender did what he did.*
I have really no idea ... as mentioned, i believe it was a little kid playing on his daddies PC

6. Multiple Screenshots
Only one .. sorry - i didint know we need multiple screens for writing a ban request, its not my daily buisness, ya know =3 .. me and others reported him multible times until he got kicked, then he rejoined and everything started again ...
(click to show/hide)

7. Names of players who witnessed what happened.**
At least Cirilla_the_Witch
Leonidas - one other Krems member besides me ... i try to find other observers and add them
many others ... but i suck at remembering names (i bet they will confirm my story, if you ask anyone who played at this time - hope you can find out this in your logs =3)

General / A small word to the dev team

Just, Dont give up! ... thats basically it =3

Looks like there is no honey and wine raining from the skies today. Maybe the glow is not hot enough or the wood isnt right to spark the fire. Could have been easier, right?
Now it is a messy battle, and something seems to be missing to gain the upperhand, while the bannerman starts feeling his hands getting torn. Is this the end of the world or the silence before the storm? Will he stand and hold or will the banner fall onto the sore battleground ? ... Just, dont give up and wait for the call!

Suggestions Corner / "No Votes"-option when creating a forum topic
« on: March 24, 2014, 03:24:56 pm »
Is it possible to implement a "No Votes" option when creating a topic, that simply allows the OPer to chose if he wants to allow voting on posts or not?

Im not all against this feature - it has its purpose and meaning - but i feel like there are cases where it should be possible to block it for a thread. E.g. in cases when the OPer has more interrest in the actual opinion of a poster towards the topic (regardless the fancyness and style), than a deformed opinion of someone who is biased by possible votings.
I dont see a real drawback on allowing voting to be optional, since there are enough forums which get along quite well without the feature.

Is there someone who feels the same way ?

Suggestions Corner / oil pond and stationary arbaleste in battle
« on: December 05, 2013, 09:56:44 pm »
since i have alot of fun using siege equip in battle lately, i had some ideas on how to improve engeneer class in battle a bit more...
my ideas :

placeable oil pond (2 slots):
slows everything down quite a bit .. especially inf
possibly knockdown effect, when approaching to fast ?

stationary Arbaleste (like in siege (4 slots)

i dont think its too much exploitable .. and very circumstantial (particulary Arbaleste isnt easy to use)
i mostly use stakes to slowdown flank attacks .. but oil ponds would be more realistic.
obviously oil ponds may give advantage to ranged, because slow moving targets are better to hit .. thats the tactical component behind it ... on the other hand , ponds would not have the advantage (like stakes) to provide some cover ...

You might or might not have had those moments, when you just want to play a nice coop game with one friend or maybe two; not one of those stressfull, boring and repetetive MMOs or shooters like cRPG, or those ego-boosting  single player whore games ... just having some nice and private gaming experiance with a good friend. Yet i cant find anything i could really dig into atm 8(

So, im looking for ideas in this regard. Tell me the coop game, you had the most fun when playing with a friend. Perhaps , adding some specifics about it, like how its about the replayability , or its pace would be nice - im not necessarily looking for something fast paced or challenging, just something enjoyable  ... or what it is , that makes the game different than others.

Im thankfull for any input or suggestion =)

Suggestions Corner / requirement for Great Maul 21>18STR
« on: October 17, 2013, 08:38:25 pm »
It is time to offer a counter for new 1h+shield to not only STR stackers, but the builds that get basically onehit by a 5PS 1h stab and do really require unbalancer help ...
Screw shieldbreakers ... they cant deal with the "new meta".
Just give it me, or i will cry all night

Suggestions Corner / Suggestions in General Discussions
« on: June 16, 2013, 04:31:27 pm »
Forum mods should not move ill placed threads to the propper sections. Its merely encouraging players to open threads wherever they think they get more attention(which is 99% General Discussions), since there is no penalty connected.
Just lock them up with a reminder to place threats in the appropriate section. Even better would be to give a slight warning imo.

edit: i am aware, that this thread is in the wrong section, but i didnt know where to put it otherwise

Suggestions Corner / Language Controle
« on: May 31, 2013, 03:19:55 pm »
Everyone knows , that the tune makes the sound ...
The sound of cRPG - mainly ingame - can be disturbing and hostile for young humans. Exessive violent and sexual harassing aswell as other strong vocabulary and themes represent a big part of ingame-communication between players. This causes an unpleasant and unacceptable enviroment for children (even older children;) and results in agressive and violent ingame-behavior, potentially emotional disorders and other problems, related to character development for upgrowing people.
Mutability and teamhitting-detection  does not sufficiently solve the issue, since its not directing the course for the overall style of conversation.
suggestions:
1) encourage admins to watch more for language missusage and themes
2) encourage admins to function as positive ideal for use of language and themes
3) supply tools to admins to warn and penalize players for language missuse
(e.g. staged warnings like those for teamhitting)
3) public offer for help players against vocal harassment and related problems ( e.g. in IRC)

Suggestions Corner / Make HX really Badass, not halfbaked
« on: May 26, 2013, 09:05:57 pm »
I would like to add a point to HX discussion concerning the role of HX class in the game

HX has a nice "bad boy" image connected to it, which is great for ppl , that love to play rogue or outlaw classes .. comparable to bandit/assassine(agi 1h/2h) and sniper(arbalest in crpg) class-role in cRPG. My research about the thrill in playing the class, showed exactly, which abilities and attributes makes being HX fun :
http://forum.meleegaming.com/general-discussion/what-makes-playing-hx-fun/

(click to show/hide)

Its high damage-potential and speed on ride-bye shotgunning and sniper-precision on range ... ofcourse the maneuverability on an champ arab enables it to survive with decent dodging skill, which accounts to his bad-ass style immersion profile.

I do feel that fast reloading xbow is counter to the role image for this class, since it encourages open encounters ... for example against many cav opponents  ... this is the world for HAs imo but not for badass deadly rogues , that should strike from hidden like a lightning with insane damage  and disappear the same way. They should work much more like mounted arbaleste snipers than moskitos.
Open encounters must be disencouraged, to improve and uphold  the class role image and immersion !
Suggestion for high armor wpf penalty, come for the same reason as slow reload speed, to disencourage open engagements and encourage striking from hidden with high speed and impact instead.

I suggest high reload time and high damage xbow along with high armor wpf penalty

General Discussion / What makes playing HX fun?
« on: May 24, 2013, 09:34:05 pm »
honest question here! Since i havent played the class by myself and a lack of imagination, i have to rely on extern opinions ;P
i would like to ask you , what you find most exiting about playing this class

how you imagine your role in the game (as in: which "heroic" image is comparable?)

whats the thing you can do best as HX

which situations you find most challenging or rewarding

which attributes and abilities of your class you value highly

what makes playing HX worthwhile, recomendable or any other points you would like to add ? (e.g.: why not playing HA instead ?)

please try to be as short and concise as possible, thanks very much for taking the time =)
no ballance discussions, no buff-nerf comments! i will report
