... and all the other things floating around out there / Rimworld
« on: July 23, 2016, 05:39:22 am »
I just purchased it but wont be playing it until tomorrow, I'm curious though if anyone plays it/has a opinion on it? It looks pretty fun but maybe a bit complex. Just came out on Steam a couple days ago.

I know there was a thread already made but it's almost 2 years old.

Anyone getting it/interested? I've preordered it as I think it looks great. Seeing some complaints about how the AI might be a bit stupid at times but knowing Paradox it will be patched out. This time around the game isn't as railroaded to be historically accurate as they have two settings (Historical and Ahistorical) so you could play Mexico and join the Soviets etc etc. The game plans on being a lot more noob friendly this time around, if you can play EU4 you should be able to play this. HoI3 was a micromanagement nightmare so I'm glad they got rid of it.

It also comes out tomorrow!

Been waiting a while to post this incase nothing came of it, but this seems to be a legit reboot of Darkfall 1. AV sold the rights to the game and they have acquired it. They already have the servers up and the game is very much playable according to a friend of mine who helps with bug testing/world building. Alpha registration is up for anyone interested - people are guessing Alpha will be in the next 2~ weeks.

If you're looking for a bit more information or if it's actually going to become a thing check our their forums (most notably their announcements/community spotlight) https://forums.darkfallriseomy old friendon.com/

Whatchu guys think? I'm hoping for the best. They got a large advantage of knowing what NOT to do with Darkfall and it's also being made/developed people who were passionate for the Darkfall 1.

Well, 3 years ago I use to play a lot on World 3 but quit because my House dominated all of the british isles and it was pretty boring from there on.

This time around Stronghold Kingdoms have released a server that included the whole world. Should be pretty interesting to see how this goes, I've spawned in South America (Columbia) to be exact if anyone wants to join me. I won't be able to send any resources as the server just started 1 week ago so I'm playing catch up myself but if anyone starts playing let me know.

Figured I'd share this game, recently discovered it from the Rougelike sale steam had like 1 week ago. I've put about 30+ hours into it already and it's super addicting. Being a Roguelike RPG you spawn as a selected race/class. It's pretty simplistic in terms of actual gameplay, you move with either clicking or Arrow keys (I rebound to WASD) and fight Monsters level up and progress through the campaign. The challenge comes from beating the game on the variety of difficulties and classes. As you play the game you will unlock more classes, races for doing certain things which you can find here http://te4.org/wiki/Unlockables . Each Class has a bunch of talents so you can make many builds which makes replayability extremely high. I bought it for like 5 bucks including the expansion but I definitely think it's worth the full amount if you're into these kind of games. There are 26 classes and 11 different races ToME.

The game is free which you can find here http://te4.org/ or you can purchase the game to support the developers and you get some perks such as

Custom Tiles
Basically this will allow you to choose a custom tile for all your characters, so much more fun! Also donator's characters with custom tiles will show up on the character's vault!

Exploration Mode
Exploration mode is basically a game mode where you get an infinite number of lives, for those that want to see the story unfold faster.

Items Vault
For each 2€ of donations you gain one slot in the online Items Vault. This allows a character to send items to the vault and an other one to grab it from there. This feature can be accessed through the Fortress ingame.

Stone Warden class
Donators get to enjoy a special class: Stone Wardens. Only dwarves can be Stone Wardens, they are a melee class that dual wields shields and is both proficient in arcane and nature. While most of the world thinks those two forces are opposite, the dwarves have found a way to merge them.

Heres the Steam page - http://store.steampowered.com/app/259680/ or you can go to their website http://te4.org/ if you don't like Steam and get it DRM free.

Has steam workshop and supports addons/mods which is awesome and they also have a super cool online character tracking system, active mods in the ingame and small community which seems to make it pretty tightly knit and most people know each other.

Overall great game, highly recommend. Anyone else play it?

... and all the other things floating around out there / Fortnite

Figured I'd make a topic, Fortnite just entered Alpha, did anyone get in?

Shit is really fucking annoying, I've lost so many multipliers by just minimizing outta habit.

Anyone got a solution? Only happens when in Fullscreen. When I play in Windowed I get really weird FPS drops and it does not feel fluid.

Thanks.

Fixed - So I seem to have fixed it by checking WSE2 Beta option....interesting.

WSE2 breaks a bunch of shit nvm, but it fixes minimizing lololol.

Beginner's Help and Guides / Thinking about coming back to cRPG
« on: January 26, 2014, 07:53:26 pm »
I had a couple of questions since I'm pretty outta the loop.

1. I was playing a 1 hander before I quit 1-2 years ago, is 24/15 still a viable build? I may go a 1hand build and continue it as I was a steel pick/elite cav shield before I quit. I notice I had a free respec due to stat changes anything I should know about this?

2. How are looms now? I recall not being able to archer NEARLY as effective if you didn't have loomed bow/arrows.

3. Hey everyone.

Anyone interested you can pre-order it via steam http://store.steampowered.com/app/261030/

Anyone else excited? It's gonna be hell waiting for the episodes again but I'm already doing that with The Wolf Among Us (which I highly recommend).

I gotta replay Season 1 since I got a new computer since then as apparently your choices from that and the DLC (400 days) will effect Season 2.

General Off Topic / Media Hint Chrome Extension (For Non-Americans)
« on: November 13, 2012, 04:54:38 am »
So I just found out about this Chrome Extension called Media Hint http://www.mediahint.com/ and it essentially blocks the fact that you live OUTSIDE of Murica, and gives you access to websites like Pandora, Hulu, and Netflix American Library.

I use to pay about 3$ a month to a service called Global Pandora which essentially allowed me to proxy to Pandora so I could listen to music but now I don't have to.

Check it out, it's really neat.

For people who say "Pandora sucks, just download you're own music" I like it because I discover new songs from it, and don't want to download songs and make a Library cause I'm lazy.

... and all the other things floating around out there / Cube World
« on: October 13, 2012, 06:11:06 pm »
I've been following this game for quite some time but now that the developer has released a bit more information I figured I'd make a thread to get people just as excited as me for it.  :P

Cube World is a open world RPG. It has levels, items, classes and quests from what the developer has stated. The game has bosses, multiple weapons like Bows, Shields, Swords, Greatswords, Daggers, Staffs and you can even dual wield, even different armor sets like light, medium and heavy.

Here are some Classes

Warrior

Warriors are masters of close-range combat. They wear heavy armor and can wield swords, axes, maces, greatswords, greataxes, greatmaces and shields.

Warriors can be Guardian or Berserker.
- Guardians have increased health and defensive abilities.
- Berserkers profit from war frenzy, which increases their attack speed with each hit.

Ranger

Rangers defeat their foes from the distance. They wear medium armor and can attack with bows and crossbows.

Rangers can choose between Sniper and Scout
- Snipers are specialized on accurately aimed range attacks.
- Scouts are more mobile are good in mid-range combat.

Spirit Mage

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Spirit Mages use their mind to control the spirit and to cast powerful spells. In contrast to all other classes they passively generate spirit over time. They wear light armor and can use staffs and wands.

Spirit Mages specialize on fire or water spells.
- Fire Mages can shoot firebolts and fireballs to burn their enemies.
- Water Mages can cast water drops and water splashes. The resulting water puddles heal friendly targets.

Rogue

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Rogues are stealthy fighters specialized on sneaking, cheating and fast attacks. They wear medium armor and can use daggers, fist weapons and longswords (I'm also thinking about adding shurikens and other throwing weapons).

Specialization: Rogues can follow the way of the Assassin or the Ninja
- Assassins ambush enemies using stealth attacks.
- Ninjas are specialized on evasion and counter attacks.

Here is some gameplay of multiplayer and gives you a general idea of what the game is like:

The game currently doesn't have an official website I guess you could say as the developer posts everything on his blog found here: http://wollay.blogspot.ca/ and here is the F.A.Q  http://wollay.blogspot.ca/2011/11/extended-cube-world-faq.html

Anyone else excited for the game? Some of the downsides of the game so far is that it doesn't seem like the world is randomly generated (I could be wrong but it would be awesome if it was) and there isn't much information on any kind of release date . Would be super cool if the developer allowed/supported modding too.

I was browsing around Kickstarter and I happened to stumble across this project Castle Story. It peeked my interest so I looked into it more and I can say that I'm literally excited for it. This game looks amazing and it's project is doing extremely well. Figured I'd share it here if someone else was interested.

THIS IS ALL COPIED FROM THE KICKSTARTER!

Castle Story is a creative voxel-based strategy game in which you can build castles one brick at a time using an army of little characters called Bricktrons.

Your goal will be to explore a vast landscape full of mysteries and dangers, and defend your castle against onslaughts of hostile creatures and possibly other players.

The world of Castle Story takes place on flying islands, high above an infinite ocean. The islands are made of voxels, cubes made of various elements, which means you can dig, carve and build anything you can imagine in the landscape. Digging underground to gather resources, stacking bricks on top of each other to build a wall or even tunnelling through a mountain is all possible and even necessary to keep your Bricktrons safe.

Carefully designing your castle not only requires creativity and imagination, but thanks to pathfinding AI and physics simulations, Castle Story has layers of strategy and depth on top of an otherwise free-form sandbox experience.

Castle Story will be released for Windows & Mac (with possible Linux support once Unity4 is released).

Build any structure you can imagine! Using 2x1 blocks, create structures that are not only good-looking, but also functional. Your Bricktrons need to be able to navigate your castle to build it and to keep the monsters out!

Physics! Watch a tower crumble to the ground realistically when its foundations can no longer support it. The entire world obeys to the laws of physics which means that you need to build cleverly so your castle can withstand attacks from projectiles and explosives.

Sandbox! Build a huge sprawling fortress, a single impenetrable bunker or a network of underground tunnels. The choice is yours. Castle Story rewards imagination and ingenuity.

Strategy! Command your Bricktrons as they build your castle brick by brick. Manage the way they work, what resources they gather, and the places they explore. Use your resources to build weapons and armor for your Bricktrons and all kinds of upgrades for your castle.

Combat! Using shields, swords, bows and lots more, your Bricktrons can defend themselves against the hostile creatures inhabiting the world of Castle Story. Lead your Bricktrons through tough fights, and use your wits to gain an advantage. You can even build catapults to rain destruction on your foes!

Magic! The world of Castle Story is permeated with all kinds of magic. Discover resources with magical auras and learn to mix them to create effects. Explore strange places and find mysterious artifacts left behind by unknown civilizations.

We’re using Kickstarter to be able to fund the next stage of development for Castle Story, so we can build the single player and multiplayer modes. We’ll use the money for:

Software Licenses : As a startup studio, we are missing several tools to help us get the job done. Software is expensive and the costs add up quickly.

Hosting : Our website currently isn't capable of hosting large amounts of traffic. Bandwidth and maintenance for our website and forums as well as a server to handle traffic will be essential.

Multiplayer : We've never done a multiplayer game of this scope before, so it's going to take a lot of time and effort to learn the ropes and get it right.

Music & Audio : We hired two musicians to compose the music for the trailer and the results were pretty amazing. We would like to hire them back again to compose a full fledged soundtrack for the game. We would also hire a professional SFX artist to make the soundscape just as good as the visuals.

Surviving : Paying rent for food and basically sustain the basic needs of three full time developers for a full year.

Polish : If we reach our goal, anything past that will be put back directly into making the game more polished.

Anyone else excited or helped fund this kickstarter? I did.
