Game Balance Discussion / Can someone tell me what HX is balanced against.... a glass snail ?

This is the list of nerfs i found to hx, if some of em are wrong im sorry and plz correct me.

0.3.0.1
Urist: - added HA skill malus to xbow and removed it from throwing
0.3.0.2
Urist: - slowed down HX reload anim by 50%
Urist: - made HA penalty for HX bigger
0.3.0.3
Urist: - lowered HA penalty to HX a bit
0.4.0.0
Tydeus: Horse Ranged damage penalty(20%) and damage cap(15 damage).
San: Horse ranged max speed reduced to 80%
San: Ranged weight penalty made percentage-based and is now applied before the PT/PD/HA penalties as 1.5x the melee penalty.
0.4.1.0
San: Horse ranged damage cap removed. The 20% damage penalty is still there.
San: Horse ranged speed = 80% with ranged weapon equipped, 90% if sheathed or melee weapon equipped, 100% when dropping ranged weapons/using all ammo (may need to switch weapons to trigger). 0 ammo properly drops when using it all or switching/sheathing.

Dupre: HA damage cap increased to 35

80% horse speed
is enuf in my opinion, all of them is to cripple the class and nothing to do with balance.

If you dont really want the class just remove it... dont nerf it into the ground.

against a cav... i cant get away (horse speed) i cant kill rider or horse (Reload speed and dmg cap so i get one shot) so cant be cav im balanced against because they can kill you every time.

against HA same problem. you get one shot. then they get 5-6 shots until you reload... if they hit you need to start againt... so if the ha has a 30% hit rate your dead

against shielders.... dono wtf to do with them.

against tincans ... they stop, present their head and comment i chat how little dmg you do... then write 5 insults while you are still reloading.

my bolts are now heaver than my armor

I get a kickpoll for nothing, normal troll poll by him, iv already told him several times what ill do if he keeps it up... both written warnings and on teamspeak.

stupidity and or failur to control impulses. Also clearly didnt learn from this one http://forum.melee.org/eu-(official)/ban-(corsairlol)/
so might need abit longer time to think about what not to do.

Quatal didnt like that i killed him and started to insult? wasnt really that successful, and i killed him afew more times while he worked on his insults. Then he gave up prolly and started to kickpoll me for no reason other than i killed him..

He kick polled me two times.

The Chamber of Tears / CAV is too strong

For some reason my screenshot is a little smudgy, but I hope it is readable still. The top THREE players on the RIGHT team are CAV. They have literally carried their team some rounds, outscore anyone else on their team and have a lot of kills. This is not an isolated occurrence, they have been playing CAV for a while and they continously yield similar results. Granted, they seem fairly good at it and probably have very high level builds. Yet for a class that is so poorly implemented into the overall game design as it has no counters, consistently delays, and is literally zero fun to fight against, this level of strength is absolutely unacceptable. Also, it was raining this entire round.

In my opinion CAV should probably be plainly removed. If it wasn't for the historical precedent, no game designer would ever think of putting such a class in such a game. If CAV has to stay, which is understandable, it should not be a higher than top tier class able to carry teams. Any amount of CAV is detrimental to the experience of the larger playerbase, a high amount of CAV is disastrous. The grumbles on the server speak for itself. There are already a number of threads created on the subject, one was created as I was typing this.


I just hope to draw attention from Tydeus or San about this situation by going all General Discussion and I hope they understand something should be done. There are many, many ways to nerf CAV, feel free to discuss them. I don't reallly care how, as long as a nerf is done.

Mostly started with corsair being a asshole in chat and doing a kickpoll against me for delaying (he clearly havnt read the server rules describing the term.) Then someone that claims to be panos (seems like it was) called Mourtatos do a ban poll against me (since the kick failed) both of them normaly grief against me whenever im on, esp panos. I normaly just ignore em but when they start to poll me its not ok.

Im allways activly trying to kill the other side, mostly i stay near and bump if they have no ranged (so they can kill my horse) if they have cav or ranged i try to kill of those first. the 50% increase in reload time makes it hard to do this fast. not really my fault as it was something the devs did as a balance.
i allways seem to get advice on how to play my class, but some suggest that i need to dismount when im last. Well i normaly dont see the 2h heros droping their sword when they are last so why shall i give up my main weapon.(herezy excluded)

I just retired and there is ALOT of hating going on, not that this is something id normaly pay attention to. But to complain about me delaying just because they have their heads so far up their asses that they cant aim and hit my LVL 14 character, isnt really my problem. AND given the fact that it takes sooooooooooooooo long to reload a xbow on a horse isnt my problem... Since the devs made the reload this long isnt not mutch i can do. I do stay close when im last so its not like im riding all over the map hiding. This makes both polls abusive and warrents a ban. (kick poll was accepted, ban failed) as you can see of the picture the ban poll was issued mid fight with no reason. a poll 15-20 min after was successfull but dont have a SS since i was booted. (made by another character i think)

5. Why you think the offender did what he did.* : Not that i really know but the person can have been abducted by aliens and probed really hard and long. how the fuck can i know what another player on the internet thinks.

General Discussion / the scoring system

how does it work, seems to favor melee more than ranged.

As you see on this ss all the ranged seem to have around 50% of the Points the melee gets if you look at the kills.
Is it some sort of proximity score they get ?

I also seem to get alot more points if i just kills the horses and ignore the rider.

Made two ban request against me with no reason, then switched tactic and TK'ed me at start of round for two rounds until he got kicked. He also tryed to TK other members of his team. Oh and several failed attempts to insult. (wasnt really any good or creative)
