Just another couple of notes:
Same experience as you starting in. It's pretty tough getting thrown into the murky waters of c-rpg, wherein lie team-killing, heated comments, and rules which apply slightly less to players who are more well known(because they've been around longer). The experience that you've had has been there from the beginning, but here are some things I've learned from my experiences that could help you as well...

If someone team-kills you in the heat of battle(or team-wounds you) it's likely that they didn't actually mean to, so there's no need to get incredibly flustered(you lost your chance at becoming the star of the round or fighting with your buddy but there will always be more rounds). This will happen repeatedly(forever basically) as long as you play c-rpg :). However, if it is one singular person who continually does it, try to space yourself from them. If they follow you and continually do it, Press I to talk with admins(if any are on line) and take screenshots(print screen) automatically saves it to a file near your mount and blade warband w/ WSE2, and it shows the directory on your computer so you can find it.

For flamers, haters, ect. There's a lot of them. If someone doesn't answer your question, ask again later, or the forums are helpful. Additionally, you can press control M to mute chat and control U to un-mute, if there is too much flack going around(if you're playing with friends in teamspeak generally chat doesn't matter as much anyway)

"House Rules:" As San said, no spawning without weapons. Teamkilling is not an option, see above(I'd know, it's not really worth the time to revenge yourself either). Try not to be alone far away and last left alive because both admins and players will get irritated(even if you are actually fighting). Try not to "Leech"(stand in a corner and not do anything afk from the computer).

Regarding Admins: The motto most know around here(admins *cough* no fun ruin game ect. ect. ect.) However, there are good ones, San, Nightengale(or desire), Canary(however controversial everyone makes him out to be), Granpappy, and more(don't be offended if I didn't say your name you know it too). They're humans too. Humans make mistakes. Chat with them in game using I if they're around and they'll occasionally get back to you.

Last but not least, have fun(regardless of what people say). If you're not, and it turns out to be way more stressful than enjoyable, there's no need to come back every day and play through the fire and flames. Just enjoy the time with your friends. (hope I haven't made this sound way too intimidating, its not. I got used to it over time too and you can meet some pretty awesome people in this game.) Happy adventuring!

I keep looking in the diplomacy thread, reading the title and seeing that orange NEW next to it.
I then proceed to click on it, then mentally face-palm because I forgot once again that there is nothing interesting happening on this thread.
Today, a voice even came out of my closet when I did this and said "get a life kid."
I may just have to do that.

Just give Smoothrich, Badplayer, Murdertron and I admin and watch as the game improves.

*cough* Me.

(click to show/hide)

All joking aside, if you actually want a good admin who both supports your view of the community and is "fair" by whatever value you mean "fair" you should probably save jokes for supporting who you actually want.

I just contradicted my own statement while correcting someone else's statement. Man am I hypocritical. You get what I mean anyway... I hope.

You could have a mix of both... banter on the forums and talk in TS or whatever you'd like to determine the Admins.

Two mediums of communication to determine a "admin" personality is probably better than just one. (to prevent sweet-talkers or trash-posters from becoming admin and giving admins a worse aurora than they already have).

People could post names(here or wherever), have the (already admin or leadership people choose out of who they like) then vote, then elect a new admin. Or vise versa.

From experience, personally I liked a hybrid of 2h/Archery. It suited me very well on both siege and battle, as you could duel proficiently while popping arrows out quickly. Once again, I used a less agi build for an archer, but once you practice and get used to the melee, it works very well.

Here we go again, tossing out a build which worked for me:
Level 31
19/21
WPF(2h): 100
WPF(Archery): 142
IF: 5
PS: 6
PD: 6
WM: 7
Items:
Weapon:
Barbed Arrows x2
Tatar Bow
Langes Messer(2h mode)

Little bit of an explanation: barbed arrows, a cheap good way to get additional extra damage but a good amount of arrows. Tatar bow, pew those arrows accurately(with practice) and quickly at your foes. Langes, probably favorite. Feels like a shorter HBS but need to get used to the stab. the PS WM and PD are self explanatory, need them all to do damage in melee or archery.

The IF can be switched for ath(on preference), but I found that it was nice to have(light armor + if = survive 1 or two hits more than without any as well as surviving 1 1/2 xbow bolts). In melee you basically have to block a lot and be a wall(since you can't usually really run out of the way) and make use of the animations and speed of swing :)

If you ever get to level 33, you can flush out basically all those stats. 21/21(7 ps, 7 pd, 7 IF(or split of ath/if))

Beginner's Help and Guides / Re: 2-Hander shield questions
« on: May 15, 2014, 07:18:15 am »
If you only have 1 point to shield, it is probably useless. Generally, 1 point in anything does not do much. Your shield will break with 1-2 hits of basically any melee over level 15's, and may break after 4-5 arrows(which will probably happen if you're chasing after archers with only 3 ath. You also won't really be able to pick up other people's shields in battle while only using 1 shielding.

If you're going to use a shield, I'd recommend at least 3 skill to dedicate to blocking arrows.

Otherwise, just try to hide behind your teammates. It's probably best to keep that extra IF to survive one extra hit.

Actually Anders, to be fair, we started building the catapult after we ran out of all the ladders but one. We then proceeded to build it, but ran into technical difficulties(the construction materials showed up but we couldn't use them after we built the catapult).
(we would have had 5 shots @ your walls)
I had a screenshot... but it's gone now :( I learned I couldn't printscreen in wse2 bc it prints a black screen.

We probably actually only wasted around 5 - 7 minutes at the end after the catapult shenanegans. (we still had the 1 ladder tho)

General Discussion / Re: How to implement multi in conquest?
« on: May 11, 2014, 11:28:17 pm »
Keep the system as it is, just change the limits. If multi can only vary between e.g. x2 and x3, long rounds are not a problem.

By the way, this simple modification would hugely improve the reward system with any game mode.

Something to think about: How much incentive would there be to win if only x2 or x3 throughout the whole time?
I didn't see else wrong about that(maybe looking at it in an incorrect way). But just an initial concern if we're thinking about trying to give incentives for conquering flags.

What could be done for conquest multiplier would be to make each flag worth one multiplier. Each time an opposing side gained a flag(or successfully captured a point) that side would gain a multiplier(or the equivalent of).
(so if 5 flags, x5 each flag worth x1, 2 flags still is x5, each is worth 2.5x).

Benefits:
Keeps interest on the defense, the defense could automatically start out with a x5.
Gives incentive for defenders to guard all the spots, without the need of time.
Takes out most of the time factor for giving multies.

Cons:
Ugly amounts of experience at certain points in time(i.E. 3 flags) x1.33 per flag. Gets kind of sketchy with many many flags in general.
Stalling once both teams achieve a decent multiplier. --> to prevent, re balance swap players every(10-20 minutes?) sort of works.
Defense has a possibility of getting more experience than offense? If defends well for long period of time.
Does not necessarily bias any team...(unless everyone on defense is a pro and the offense gets nowhere)  --> to prevent, re balance swap players every(10-20 minutes?)

Conditions:   #conditions which could cause people to give up and lose? Could just have automatic switch sides if win on defense.
For carrying over, the max would be remain a x5.
If attackers win, switched to defense, would already start with a x5.
If attackers win, stay on attacker side, keep x5.
Attackers lose, switched to defense, gain a x5.
Attackers lose, stay on attacking, stay at x1.
Defenders win, no switch, would already start with x5.
Defenders win, switch, start with x5.
Defenders lose, would start with x5.       #
Defenders lose, switch offense, start with x1.

Valour could happen over a certain time period. If over a 10 minute span of fighting, they did whatever it takes to earn valour, they could get a bonus multiplier regardless of which side they're on adding a x1 as it usually does. After another 10 minutes, if that person did not earn it again, it would revert back to the "normal" multiplier scheme depending on which side the person is on.

I could have miss-typed something, but overall, this seems to me like a viable solution to the problem.
Also, there would be lots of EXP... mainly for defense if they are solid. Tics could still be every minute, similar to battle server.
Thoughts?

Edit: Realized this may not be extremely good for attackers for larger maps in the beginning, but viable for smaller maps. Page of semi brainfarts.
Thinking about it more... confusing myself a bit :P I'll just cross that out, leave it there let you guys think about it some :)

Suggestions Corner / Re: Couldn't halfswording use a buff?

Also... should make it that you need to use some type of gloves.
Otherwise when slashing one would naturally cut their own hand occasionally(self damage). If you wanted to make it more realistic and viable.

(also, used langes messer) in the 2h form, and still works very well. Just takes some time to get used to the stab distance, and a change of gameplay.

Stab when they are approaching you or close, slash when medium distance(otherwise glance with stab). If too far, just backup and wait for them to charge you.
