Title: How far will the customization of weapons go?
Post by: Golem on May 29, 2016, 01:33:37 am
I remeber a concept art/screen of a spear with 3 variations of shafts, heads and pointy bits at the other end. Will it be possible to make a poleaxe by attaching a hammer head to an axe?

Bonerlord will have customization like that. You will have different shafts, blades, tips, and so on, you can even adjust the size of each of these bits.

Bannerlord looks like Warband with mods, even though OKAM looks less done by know the concept is much more interesting even if they won't bring amazing customization.

I actually like how Bannerlord is shaping up. Only issue and concern, is lack of coop and possibly a very shallow multiplayer experience.
What I'm worried about in OKAM, is that the Devs will favour 'balance' over authenticity and a realistic feel.

OKAM has future, bannerlord isn't. Maximum they can offer is small tournaments and single player.

...and mods that will be developed and played for years to come + some sort of 'coop' campaign

While, OKAM is made by a totaly new studio, unknown and will most probably be looked upon, as a Feudal Life/Rust clone, by a lot of dickheads.
So, pretty much everything is in favour of Bonerlord atm.

Bannerlord will be mostly fixated on its singleplayer aspect as was Warband. If you want to have a grand multiplayer experience aside from combat I don't think you'll find it there.

How'd you know? Have they said anything about mp, yet? Aren't you frogetting the modding community?

I haven't heard anythings despite there being the usual game modes.
As far as modding goes, I guess they can try to make something similar, again. Like Persistent World Mod. But to make it stand out really well, you'd have to put a whole lot of work into it.

I bet Bannerlord will have Merc mod. Just hoping it's as shit as the Warband one.

I just hope oKaM doesn't get thwarted, if devs realise they won't be able to implement the open-world aspect in a way that's fun to play, with no option to only play MP like cRPG or Warband i.e. join a server - > fight -> GTX  rinse and repeat
In other words, it would be a fun game, even withut the Epic part, but if they force Epic on everyone and it's not epic - well it'll be pretty shit.
They might actually do better with a competitive CS:GO formula - gamemodes like: Escort a Lord and his family from a dunjin, loaded catapult scenario mission and community servers with classic maps like xbow_only_lego_tower and kiteshield_surf

So... Bannerlord will be like Warband in that it will mainly be singleplayer and wont feature a grand multiplayer experience?

That this is posted on the cRPG forum greatly amuses me :D *this* is Warband, modded but Warband.

Yeah, my point still stands...

I admit, I havent really been that into its development, but judging from the recent trailer it looks like PW 2.0 from the MP aspect rather than cRPG 2.0. If so its a pretty smart move. PW has always been the most popular mod in Warband. Unfortunately it sucks complete ass, everyone who plays it knows this, but they play it cause its the best they got. A superior version to it is probably more than welcome. Even if Bannerlord gets released it will most likely do its own typical MP with rounds fighting thing and its modded PW version wouldnt stand a chance. Ofcourse this is all speculation. I have no facts.

Check this if you're unsure how it'll play - https://www.dropbox.com/s/lxhgmuh8uj8f1w2/Epic%20(Base).pdf?dl=0 (https://www.dropbox.com/s/lxhgmuh8uj8f1w2/Epic%20(Base).pdf?dl=0)

Already read it.

A general concept piece still doesn't let me know how it'll play. Only playing the game or potentially watching a ton of videos of raw gameplay will do that, so I'm resigned to the fact I wont know for a while.

Oh yeah, but it's like that with every game. Thought you meant that you don't get the concept.
