Well I thought I'd start up GW2 for the first time in a while and tried to log in only to be first told my account doesn't exist. So I recover it and then I try to log in with new password and I'm told my account has been terminated due to selling items or gold for real world money. I could only assume my account was hacked so I took a look on the forums (can't even log in there) and there's a host of people who have had the same problem very recently and are having to post through their friends accounts as the GW2 support is being slow about sorting each account out.
Hoping mine will get sorted soon but I strongly suggest people here keep an eye on their accounts as GW2 account security is clearly screwed if so many people are having issues.

...just tried a login on their site and except a message that I haven't changed my password in a while I could login just fine. Guess I am safe :P

Not sure if related, but Heroes of Newereth account database was hacked not long ago, maybe if you used the same login for both games?

Never heard of it so no. Well regardless it seems to be a very common problem at the moment. It sounds as though GW2 are just automatically shutting down accounts they think have been hacked and then restoring them later now they have this account restoration tool. Just need them to sort mine out.

I'm pretty sure the GW2 database or a part of it was hacked as well, and they just hide it.
What makes me think that is that some chinese guy got my password and tried to login into my account (stopped by 2WAY auth), and I really doubt he guessed a 14 char password that I don't use anywhere else. Same thing happened to several people I played with (and a ton of other players, according to their forum).

Yeah I've been getting those verify a location things for ages but I always deny it or whatever. It's a pretty big problem. I guess because I haven't checked it in 2 months something happened in that time.

this happened to me too. Not once but three times. And the password is so l33t I don't remember it myself.

Thought I'd fire this up again randomly. Turns out my account has moved worlds from the EU Gandara to the US Sorrows Furnace and in order to transfer back you have to buy gems. About £15 of gems. Getting onto the support guys about it but fuck that am I spending money to change something that I never changed in the first place.
Pretty much means whenever I play the world will be deserted :rolleyes:

Nope. Haven't played it since last year when world transfers were still free. I was hacked sometime after that and I assume the hacker transferred me over to the US server when it was still possible.
Felt like doing a bit more exploring to kill some time but of course it isn't that easy ever with GW2.
