Downvoted because gay. 10 seconds special effects'd "betting" about who's going to win, the almost full mana invoker near his tower versus a zero mana earthshaker... such surprise, much pro, very bet, the Invoker wins! Whoddathunkit. At least do it with something that's impressive or unexpected, stupid video-maker.

That is why you should always go all pick with new players. So they can pick what they are comfortable with and don't get a random hero they know nothing about :P

I am always looking for people who want to play DOTA seriously. I certainly don't mind teaching either. Crazyi is my steam name.

Would take even longer to learn the other match-ups a bit more in-depth if you weren't directly in control of a character to learn what they're capable of.
And how!

Why?

only ever playing 4-5 chars out of 100+ seems silly to me :D Like playing crpg buying one random and never trying any other weapon in the game.

I oftimes random in all pick but only if I'm the first or second guy to do that.
Later on, it's about picking. If you're new to the game however all pick is for sure the game mode to go to play 5-10 heroes first and get used to their skills. You will know the enemy hero's skill after a time and one day you gonna play them yourself.
You don't need to play meepo to know his skills for example. No need to lose one game for that at least. It's a 100% repick if you ever random him. Same for wisp most likely unless you're fitting the support role and not play alone. ;)

Randoming is always a good way to play more heroes but surely also a way to "destroy" your game in certain situations. The extra gold doesn't always give you such an advantage.

Well, knowing all the heroes is a must ofc. The skills, roughly the cooldowns and mana usage etc.  Once you're done with that you'll know what heroes you like playing as, and naturally you'll be focusing on them.

It's pretty easy to know what it is like to play a hero after you see his skills and see others playing him.
