As I can gather from the off-topic forums that a few here are interested in modern history too (I take it for given that all here like the Middle-Ages  :)) here's a link to Howard Zinn's 'A People's History (the 20th Century)' on Youtube, read aloud by Matt Damon and the author himself. Good for example for travelling or for other situations where you're unable to read but still intellectually available.

20th century US history from the perspective of marginalized groups.
