General Discussion / Hosting a Minecraft Server - Strategus
« on: June 19, 2020, 10:03:25 pm »
Hullo everyone, Light here!

Or Eibhlin or Eavan or Aileen or SilverHatTrick or whatever name I use these days  :mrgreen:

As the title of this topic suggests, I'll be hosting a Minecraft server soon. Which brings me to why I'm here. In short, I'm panning for players and testers who are willing to try something a little different from a typical survival or factions server! How is it different?

"Rise and Fall: Kingdoms" will be an immersive multiplayer experience for players to simulate the conditions of statecraft and ruling, as well as those who are under said rulers. Here, Kingdoms will be forged: not by the owners or other staff members, but by you guys, the players!

So there are no set races or kingdoms or even lore that you guys have to follow. Instead the server will focus on the player's unique interaction with the server mechanics, and will also heavily emphasize player-to-player interaction!

Some examples of planned server mechanics are as followed:

Claimant Wars: Mostly beginning in Phase 1, but possible when a King is usurped or dethroned, Claimants can wage duke it out under certain conditions for the throne!

Statecraft: RFK will heavily emphasize the ability of statecraft: the skillful management of state affairs. As a ruler, you are not in charge of AI that will comply in a coded and predetermined matter, you are in charge of actual players capable of thinking, acting, and doing whatever they want. Know that your nation cannot function without them despite whatever side effects they may bring, and that it is YOU that need them and not vice versa. You will need to prove, or at least make them believe that you are a leader, one that is charismatic and charming, capable of keeping them safe and secure, and being someone who has the ability to keep them content. Failure to do so can lead to your people discontent, unruly, rebellious, or they may just outright leave you in hopes for something different. Don’t be surprised then if you are suddenly being challenged, or even dethroned for someone they believe is more better.

Customizable Domestic Policies: As a monarch, you can choose to change the makeup of your Kingdom, whether it be to create an Aristocratic society or Plutocratic society, Serfdom vs Freepeople, Laissez Faire Economy or Mercantilism, Centralized Government vs Decentralized Government, Warlike vs Peaceful, etc! Choosing one domestic policy over the other can lead to you attracting more people to your kingdom, gaining benefits, and losing out on some as well.

Strategus: Something that all of you cRPG players will be familiar with, RFK's Strategus is inspired by cRPG's Strategus! Things such as scheduled battles and sieges will be prevalent upon the release of Beta, but there will also be different and new factors such as movement via tiles, the ability to build key constructions such as large refinery centers for resources, training facilities to create new troop centers, setting up castles in key positions for area-denial, ports to traverse the sea for war and trade, etc!

Customizable Kingdoms: A Kingdom should differentiate itself from other Kingdoms. Upon becoming King, you can choose to declare a “culture” that your kingdom is based off. Example being, “My kingdom is based off Feudal Japan”, and your architecture and culture will resemble Japan. You will also automatically differentiate yourself when you have to decide how your government will run. It is also your choice to create customized offices of government (though generally, the simpler the better), and to form other unique ways to attract more people to your Kingdom.

Lore and "History": Unlike other RP-like servers, RFK will have only have the barest of background lore. Instead, the lore will be born through the game play, where the actions of players and nations will be written by a select group of people known as Scribes, or Historians. Lore will mostly be presented as “history”, where scribes/historians will recollect events, along with their own interpretation of them. At the endgame, all manuscripts will be compiled into one tome, where all players will be able to read and remember all that they have experienced.

Noble Houses, Orders, and Guilds: side from Kingdoms, you can also formulate your own mini-factions within a Kingdom that will help friends keep close, and offer benefits! Houses of nobility can pose as a significant contender for a throne, Orders can be formulated so as to service specific needs of the Kingdom, and Guilds can reach beyond just one Kingdom.

Risk: While griefing and raiding will be reduced, if not completely absent, you can still die and lose your stuff should raiders cross the border to terrorize the folks. You as a vassal should consider the strength of a Kingdom and its ability to protect you before you join one! As a King, you have the potential of losing your lands, throne, and kingdom! Only the most capable, charismatic, and cunning King can unify all the Kingdoms again as one.

There are of course so many things that I hope players will be able to experience soon! Please note, that this is a completely new endeavor for me, and all of these mechanics have yet to be tested by the people who matter: you!

If you would like to stay in tune with the developmental progress, and are curious to try this out, please consider joining the Discord! We'd love to see you there, and I can answer any questions that you may have! I hope to see some of you there soon ^-^

Normie out!

General Discussion / Say Happy Birthday to JayJRod!
« on: April 15, 2019, 03:37:48 am »
Hey guys, so while I was on duels yesterday with Canadian ping, I saw a conversation between LUBU and JayJRod about tomorrow (as in today) allegedly being JayJRod's birthday. I don't know him very well, but I think he's a decent guy who deserves a "Happy Birthday"! If you share my thoughts, feel free to drop a Happy Birthday and whatever thoughts to commemorate another year that JayJRod's done!

General Discussion / Who do you like dueling with?
« on: April 07, 2019, 06:50:31 pm »
Generally when I duel, I'm usually over matched (because I suck XD).

But my favorite people to duel as of now is Ellie Bean and Havelle, both which are a step above me XD

General Discussion / A Scenario not for the Faint Hearted (1) ~Light
« on: April 07, 2019, 06:03:31 pm »
Just another passing thought....
BUT What if everyone from cRPG (from all regions) came to sleep over at your house? How would you accommodate them?

Rules and Conditions!

1. No "Kicking" someone off your property, they have to stay on it, whether it be your house or the lawn or whatever...

2. No "Forcing of Labor", you cannot ask someone to mow your lawn. However, you can mention that they could want to help you, E.G "Knowing how helpful Yeldur is, I asked him to scrub the toilets for the Greater Good!"

3. Just You: You'll be excluding roommates/family/friends/some other who typically lives with you. Unfortunately, your pets will have to remain in the facility (but you can always drop them off with a relative). Or let them be trampled, whatever suits you!

4. You cannot magikally create anything, just look around the house to see how you'd be able to accommodate everyone at the very moment.

So there you go! Basically, you can choose who/whom sleeps where, who eats this, who gets to sleep on the floor and who gets to sleep on the bed, what kind of party you'll have, etc!

Any questions? Ask away!

General Discussion / The Grievance List ~Light
« on: April 03, 2019, 02:32:54 am »
In life, you will meet a lot of people, people who will be your friends, friends which you can talk with, cry with, dance with, give a shoulder in times of need, etc. You also get to see jackasses. So, if you have any grievances towards someone (me for all I know), post them here!  :D :D :D

If you are looking for someone to blame due to broken relationships, enmity, rivalries, or heck even friendship made by such comments....

General Discussion / Strategus - Rhodok Equipment
« on: March 30, 2019, 02:01:05 am »
If you guys haven't known already, I'm building an army so as to siege a castle. But I'm wondering how I should kit out a soldier with equipment, equipment that will be able to hold it's own against AI gear. Honestly, I think my equipment will not be able to match AI gear by far, but here is what I'm proposing

Helmets:
Tier 1: Eyeslot Kettlehat with Padded Coif - 60 Silver

Tier 2: Footman's Helmet - 20 Silver

Body Armor:
Tier 1 (Just Extra Armor with Limited Quantity)  : Green Brigadine Over Aketon - 249 Silver

Tier 2 (Tier 1): Gilded Aketon - 128 Silver

Tier 3 (Tier 2): Leather Ranger Armor - 52 Silver

Leg Armor:

Tier 1: Green Hose with Kneecops - 15 Silver

Tier 2: Ankle Boots - 4 Silver

Weapons 1h

Tier 1 (Just Extra Weapons with Limited Quantity): Fighting Pick - 137 Silver

Tier 2 (1): Falchion - 29 Silver

Tier 3 (2): Shortsword - 17 Silver

Weapons 2h

Tier 1: Italian Longsword - 396 Silver

Tier 2: Maul - 65 Silver

Shields

Tier 1: Plain boardshield - 108 Silver

Tier 2: Old Boardshield - 28 Silver

Polearm

Tier 1: Pike - 318 Silver

Tier 2: Spear - 67 Silver

Kits

Kit Tier 1 (1h+Shield) 203 + 137 - 340 Silver

Kit Tier 2 (1h+Shield) 76 + 45 - 121 Silver

Kit Tier 1 (Spear + T1Shield) 203 + 175 - 378 Silver

Kit Tier 2 (Spear + T2Shield) 76 + 95 - 171 Silver

Kit Tier 1 (2h) 203 + 396 - 599 Silver

Kit Tier 2 (2h) 76 + 65 - 141 Silver

At bare minimum, if I got a Tier 2 1h+Shield kit , equipped bare minimum 1000 troops with it.... 121,000 silver.....

..... And that's tier 2, which will never be able to match up with AI gear. Excluding siege equipment and gear....

*sigh*

Any suggestions, feedback? Leave a review.

Events & Tournaments / A thought from Light: Hunt the Plebs!
« on: March 25, 2019, 05:21:23 pm »
Another thought from me as I last night randomly thought this up. When Cassander mentioned the term "like some dude in plate hunting plebs" I started brainstorming for another idea for an event. And so may I introduce....

HUNT THE PLEBS

So let's get on with it, shall we? As the event is aptly named, Hunt the Plebs is basically where 2 Stronk Knights in Plate hunt down peasants, as the peasants try to escape the maze! How will the game play?

The game is set up in a maze like fashion with plenty of corners, loops, entrances and naturally also dead ends to which an unfortunate peasant can find themselves being in. Set in the maps end are doors, which peasants must break down in order to free themselves and escape. Sounds easy, except for the fact that the doors have a huge amount of hitpoints, being chased down by knights all the while, and you may find yourself considerably weaker then you are accustomed to (faster too though).

The server will be a Battle server, so as to keep peasants from respawning. Peasants may kit themselves out with anything that can harass Knights, such as siege shields, construction sites, ladders, etc. Don't be alarmed if you run out of your tools, there will be plenty more things to help you out all throughout the maze such being things like Apples, many kinds of shields ranging from terrible to godly, peasant weapons so as to strike back at the Knights, more board shields to block the way of Knights, etc~ Beware though, Knights may also pick up certain equipment to use against you!

Essentially, as a peasant you must run to doors while your fellow peasants are distracting Knights and hammer it down as much as you can before escaping the Knights as they come to stop your actions, repeating the same thing over and over, until either all the Knights have cut you down, or that you broke down a door, and can successfully flee the maze.

There must be a minimum of 2 Knights, as well as being a minimum of 2 doors per map. As Knights, you will be slowed down considerably due to your armor, lack of athletic points, and heavy equipment. Don't worry though, as when you do catch up to a peasant he will certainly be at your mercy. You will need to coordinate with your fellow Knight, for example, seeing that some Peasants are clobbering at a door, you can silently place down siege shields at the entrances, before rushing in, with the dismayed peasants soon realizing that the other entrances are blocked, and them being cornered. Be not surprised however if some wily peasant manages to slip away from your grasp using a clever method to escape.

Knights will also be provided throwing weapons scattered around the map, certainly too heavy for a mere peasant to use against you. Your weapons will also be of the supreme quality, so that a peasant dare not lift it up. If you are somehow slain by peasants (what a terrible dishonor), you will be respawned with a timer of 1 minute.

Stats

When joining the game and being picked on a side, you will be given a predetermined amount of points! Here is what it will look like for Peasants

Peasants
STR: 12
ATL: 20

All Weapon Proficiency will be 80.

Athletics: 6
Weapon Master: 4
Iron Flesh: 4
Power Strike: 4
Power Draw: 3
Power Throw: 2
Shield: 2

Knights

STR: 20
ATL: 16

All Weapon Proficiency: 120

Athletics: 4
Weapon Master: 4
Iron Flesh: 6
Power Strike: 6
Power Draw: 0
Power Throw: 6
Shield: 0

Preferably, I would like to have the ratio 1:8 for Knights, but having a minimum of 2 Knights. Some additions that would be seen in Hunt the Plebs is:

Healing Tent: There will be a healing tent in the middle, for which both Knights and Peasants can use alike. Knights do not have the permission to destroy it, but Peasants do (but why on Earth would you want to do that?).

2 Doors, 4 Doors, 6 Doors: There will be 3 types of maps, each with their own corresponding amount of doors for corresponding amount of Knights. For example, 2-3 Knights = 2 Door Map, 3 - 5 Knights = 4 door map, 5 - 7 Knights = 6 door map.

All Doors have 3 entrances: There are 3 official ways that leads to doors, leaving Peasants a way out if Knights were to barrel down toward them.

Knights Gear: The gear for Knights must surpass what Peasants can use stat wise, so as to leave Knights OP.

Rewards: Although I once again considered implementing rewards, it really isn't up to me but the admins, it will most likely be normal rewards unless stated otherwise.

I want to implement a lot more things, but I would like to hear feedback from you guys as to whether or not this will work, suggestions to add/remove features, and of course details.

Thank you for reading~

Light~

(P.S. Please drop a review, not just the poll :P)

AN: Assington works hard, but some reviewer trolled him otherwise….. (Honestly, his community ranking should be like a 4.8~ something). Received title “GotTrolled!” for… getting trolled.

Here are some people who are very close to be qualified! Want to see them in, rate them! Don't forget there are other people to be rated as well! The rating will still continue, and if you think you disagree with any of the ratings, please rate them as well!.... I'm really tired...

So some of you are wondering as to whether or not the "Effect on Strategus" ratings should be weighted as they should, so I'm setting up a poll! Is participating in Strategus as a commander an important definition for cRPG? If there are more "No's", then I will reduce the rating from 10 to 5.

Do you guys still want to implement it so you can score someone a 1? Honestly, I don't want too, since it means a lot of work, but if you do, put up a poll!

Update! So.... this is the conclusion of R1 of S1. The list will again be updated in another week! But as this is very time consuming, and I need helpers to help maintain and create new rankings! If you'd like to volunteer, PM me, or leave a review on this post. If I don't get volunteers... well.... don't expect a R3...

Update! Who is ready for R2? I know I'm not! I really want some volunteers to make this work :P. But if it comes down to it, I suppose I'll do it myself. I'm planning for R2 to be released next week, and I need you all to start rating again! I'll try to organize the rating system more! Speaking of ratings, the poll showed that a majority of players (16 against 9) agreed that "Playing Strategus as a commander" is a vital componet of cRPG, sorry for those of you who thought otherwise, the weight will remain the same! Here is the next poll, should we implement "1" as a rating again? If you don't know already, if you rate 1 it basically means I don't know. By removing that feature, you can further degrade a rating by being able to rate someone a "1" rather then a "2". This will be a lot of tedious work for me if the poll goes through, so once again, I'll need volunteers. Let's see what you all have to say ^-^ ~3/30/19

Update: Ever heard of the bystander syndrome! Well, let me assure you that NO ONE is volunteering... *cri cri* I need volunteers, and if you think someone is out there helping me, NO ONE IS! Appreciate your time~ Also, R2 will be implemented in a couple of days, 4/7 at most.

General Discussion / Light's Ranking System Rules
« on: March 24, 2019, 09:44:01 pm »
This is a ranking system that I am making, however an important component to this is that YOU all will be rating your friends/buds/enemies. Be honest when rating your folks, as it lets people properly assess themselves as well as others, prompting them in the future to better themselves.

The ratings will go from 1 - 10, or 1- 5, with the following categories:

* Duels (1 - 10)

* Battles (1 - 10)

* Strategus Battles (1 - 10)

* Effect on Strategus Map (1 - 10)

* Friendliness (1 - 5)

* Moral Compass (1 - 5)

* Community Member (1 - 5)

With each individual category, you receive an individual rating, 1 - 3 being D, 3 - 5 being C, 5< - 7 being B, 8 - 9.4 being A, and anything above an average of 9.5 being S.

The 1 - 5 ratings will be 1 for bad, 2 for meh, 3 for fair, 3.5+ for good, and 4.5+ for superior.

After scoring individual categories, all of them will be added up to 50 (Yes, I know in total they add up to 55), with 16 - 27 being D, 28 - 36 being C, 37 - 45 being B, and 45< - 50 being A. Anyone receiving above 50 will receive an S rank in the overall category, and anyone under 15..., it's time to improve for the better. Any superior scores (A or above) will be given a nod in the overall rankings, and will add a "+" sign to the rankings.

(E.G. "Somedude" receiving an A in Strategus Battles, and an S in Duels with an overall rank of B, will receive a B ++ ranking).

Depending on your ratings, you can receive a title as well (for both good and bad).

* Amiable - Get a 3.5+ in Friendliness category

* Genial - Get a 4+ in the Friendliness category

* Dic- Ill-Displosed - Get a 2> in the Friendliness category

* Principled - Get a 3.5 - 4 in the Moral Compass category

* Venerable - Get a 4< in the Moral Compass category

* Crooked - Get a 2.5> in the Moral Compass category

* Master Duelist - Get a 9 + in the Dueling category

* Practitioner - Get a 5.5 - 9 in the Dueling category

* Novice - Get a 5.5> in the Dueling category

* Mercenary - Get a 7 + in the Strategus Battles category

* Mediocre Meddler - Get a 4> in the Strategus Battles category

* Warrior - 7-9 in the Battles category

* Dominator- Get a 9 + in the Battles category

* Hapless Peasant - Get a 4> in the Battles category

* Warlord - Get a 8 + in the Effect on Strategus category

* Dabbler - Get a 4> in the Effect on Strategus category

* DoMuch - Get a 4+ in the Community category

* DoLittle - Get a 2> in the Community category

At most, you can only have 2 titles active in the rankings, I will PM you for your decisions on which ones to keep!

I will also mention noteworthy notes made by other raters alongside with rankings, so expect to see what people think of you regarding in strengths and weaknesses.

Here is the rubric!

Title1 Title2, IG Name

Dueling Rating: #a
Battles Rating: #a
Strategus Battles Rating: #a
Effect on Strategus Map Rating: #a
Community Rating: #a
Friendliness Rating: #a
Moral Compass Rating: #a

Overall Rating: #a (Along with ++'s)
Notable Mentions From Players
"Messages" - Player

You will have to get 5 ratings to be placed on the board, and as the board will continue to be updated even if you aren't able to get on the first round, you may be able to land yourself on the next round. Speaking of rounds, they are basically when a board will be updated~

[/b][/u]
And those are the ranking system rules! Any questions or additions to the rules? Eager to start rating? Here are some links (on google forms, I'm sure it's trustworthy). Want to get your name on the board, PM me! Boards will be updated weekly! Feel free to rate yourself XD

(P.S. - Clarification on Community category: Generally talking on discord (arse or not), making suggestions for changes, helping out newbies, and generally being a talkative soul)

IMPORTANT NOTICE: "Due to my laziness and utter lack of preparation.... sigh.... let's not get into details. The point is, anything scored ONE will be considered that the rater does NOT know anything about it, e.g. "I don't know". So there you go, keep that in mind, if you want to meme someone, you have to give them at least a 2 :P"

Events & Tournaments / A thought from Light: Terrorist Town
« on: March 23, 2019, 07:42:01 pm »
A proposal on what we could do on events. A forewarning, I've already talked about this with others, and most of us agreed it probably wouldn't be implemented, reasons that I will mention here. But someone said to still give a shoutout so... here it is!

If you have played Garry's mod or some other parody, you may have seen and perhaps even played the game/mod called "Traitor Town"

To briefly explain, this is a mystery sort of game, whether you are familiar as to something like "werewolf" or "mafia", one or two "traitors" go out and kill the innocents.

There are several roles to play:

Innocents: Your average fellow just caught up in a bad situation. There is a traitor amongst them, and it's the innocents jobs to find out just who killed who. You must try to survive until either: The "Traitors" are killed, or the time runs out. Make decisions with your fellow innocents as to who is who... but be careful, that "innocent" who is behind you just might be creeping behind your back to kill you...

Warden: The shiny dude, certainly not discreet in any way. He stands out among the civilians of Calradia, wielding impressive weapons and strong, shiny, sturdy armor. As civilians, it may be best to follow him, as he is the "sheriff" of the town, serving as the protector, and detective (which I will elaborate more later). Consider his words akin to a King (Big Cassander?), and don't be surprised if he retaliates in some form if you (innocents and traitors alike) disobey his order. Has some special tools and generally better gear.

Traitors: The cloak and dagger, a favorite thing for traitors to do. Of course, you can also go and start hacking at anyone you see. The traitors jobs are to kill all the innocents and the warden by the end of the time limit. They can blend in amongst the innocents, either by staying silent, or loudly vocalizing concerns that innocents also share, for example "Who is the traitor?" It's their job to stay ahead of the game, being manipulative and cunning, throwing suspicion off themselves, and casting it on another person. Traitors can vary in numbers depending on how much people are in the lobby, at minimum there being one (for obvious reasons).

Admin (AKA: Lord of the Plebs): Clad in full plate, and with a vindictive weapon for all to see, you peasants might as well call him God (and the Warden apostle Peter). Keeping an eye out on the scoreboards, and serving as the rule keeper for the naughty spoiling cheaters out there (as best as he can anyhoo). He will keep track of who killed who, and gives clues (elaborating later) to his pet Warden. Beware angering him, or you may find your torso bisected with no compromise.

~~~~~
So hopefully I didn't bore you guys yet, I'll let you guys take a small break as to refresh your minds, and not space out.
~~~~~

So to review, there are 4 roles, Innocents, Traitors, Warden, and the Admin. This would probably be hosted on small server, with 30 people at most. The map would most likely be an town-like map, or more preferably a custom scene. Everyone would be on the same team, except for the Warden (this making the Warden harder to coordinate with the Innocents.)

Everyone will start with a "kit of equipment", mostly ranging from pleb weapons and a simple linen tunic. The Warden will be equipped with a better armor of sorts, and the slaughterhouse begins as soon as the Admin says go. The game mode would be deathmatch, so as to prevent players from respawning. Traitors cannot be revealed until the Warden checks a body, and the Admin confirms as to whether or not he/she/(it?) was a traitor.

The manipulations begin as everyone begins questioning as to who did what and who is who. The Warden will take command of the innocents, ordering them with orders ranging such as "Follow me if you aren't a traitor", or "Everyone meet up in the Center", or "Simon says...." No one is forced to comply of course, but the Warden then can issue a death warrant for a player (though penalties shall be given if the Warden was wrong, elaborations will come later).

If you find a corpse, shout out to others. People will want to come and look, and the Warden will confirm with the admin as to whether or not the hapless person was a traitor or an innocent. The Admin will of course signal to everyone once all traitors are dead and that the game is over.

Karma

Just because you are able to defend yourself and are able to call out your suspicions, don't just attack anyone at random. As an innocent, if you kill someone other then a traitor, you will receive loss in trust and potentially "karma" (The admin will reduce your chance of getting any significant role until the session of Traitor Town is over". If you start attacking everyone from spawn as an innocent, you will receive warnings. Upon 2 or more warnings, the admin will kick you out of the game. As a traitor, your karma can be reduced if you kill a fellow traitor. As a Warden, any call outs or attacks which lead to an innocent getting killed will create a loss of karma, albeit at smaller scale then the innocents.

Now, you may ask, "Won't everyone know who killed who?" A solution for that is being able to toggle off causality reports in settings, leaving you all blind as to who killed who except the Admin. And this comes down to the integrity of players, for them to be willing not to cheat in the game. This makes the game have a serious flaw, unless the players are ready to have fun without breaking the rules. Which, from what I've seen, I'm not quite sure as to who will cheat.

Somethings we can do to spice it up:
* Weapons spawning in the scene, allowing the plebs and traitors to arm themselves (e.g. Rusty simple swords, apples, old round shields, mauls, etc.)
* Traitors having unique weapons when they spawn, for example invisible weapons so to help the killing all the more easier
* A healing tent somewhere in the map, to which traitors can sabotage

And those are the only suggestions I have for now. But the scenery to which the game takes place should have a lot of cover, and cramped isolated rooms, to which you may find yourself with only one other person... with a knife. Although I was considering a small reward for the games, I realize that would probably encourage someone to cheat, so I would keep it as standard with battle servers.

I understand that there are many flaws into making a game like this, so I would appreciate constructive criticism and more suggestions as to how we might make this work, and in the end, this really is only an idea.

Appreciate the time you spent reading this
