Hello everyone! Quincy Clan has decided to role-play another role in the new round of Strategus. We shall be called the “Council of Calradia”.

As some of you might already know we used to be a neutral merchant republic in the last round. We managed to role-play our game until the end of Strategus 4. We had no wars and no allies and no enemies. Now we want a new challenge.

This new challenge is actually a big one. We want to make sure that the entire Strategus player base of EU part of the map gets the most fun in the new round by ensuring decent amounts of experience gain and also by enhancing the diplomatic system of Calradia.

As many of you already know there will be a large increase in equipment prices. This fact scares people to believing that there won’t be much experience to be gained. Quincies also believe there would a lot less experience in the following Strategus round. We offer a way to mitigate this.

Another issue, stated many, many times before, is the disparity between so called “big” and “small” factions. We are offering solution to potentially increase the influence of the smaller clans and allow them potential means of defending themselves against “big” factions and/or blocks if they are bullied for no apparent reason.

This introduction may seem appealing but the big questions are “How the hell can you do all of that???? How can you make the game give more experience when everything will be too darn expensive??? How do you plan to make small factions be more influential??? Is this some kind of a joke???”

Here are some answers. Our new faction (Council of Calradia) would be something based on the ideas of European Union and United Nations today in the real life. As the name might suggest we are planning to make a big Calradian council where community would make decisions on worldwide politics. We also suggest some reasonable rules so we can all enjoy this game. And this is not, in any way, a joke. We (the Quincy Clan) have spent weeks developing this system just so you, the community, would enjoy the new round of Strategus more!

In order to make this thread as short as possible I will provide you with the link to our plan in a form of a pdf document, and every single EU faction should read it as soon as possible. Text below this link will have comments on the pdf file and at the end there will be the FAQ section as soon as u start asking questions.

In the document there is no explicit explanation about the gain for the community but the implications should be clear:

Safer trade -> More trade -> More silver -> More equipment -> Better battles -> More fun -> More experience

Fairer battles -> Better battles -> More fun -> More experience

Enhanced diplomatic system -> More people involved into worldwide politics -> More fun for diplomat type of players

“Small” factions role enhanced -> Less fear from “big” factions + more influence over the politics -> More fun for new players or existing small factions

So basically by becoming a member of Council of Calradia you are ensuring more fun and more experience for all. Just to be clear, becoming a member does not make u an ally to anyone. You choose your allies and enemies on your own.

4. Written description of what happened, the whole story. Also what happened before and after. - Before this incident happened i spawned and went to desktop for a moment to do something that isnt watching porn. Then i hear my char screaming and i tab back to the game. I thought a guy slapped me thinking i was afk. Well i started moving and stopped doing whatever i was doing on desktop. Well i found myself in a situation where i couldnt contribute to the team cus i have been bashed to death by his awful fists. I can still hear my own screams and the sounds of my jaw bone cracking and my forehead devouring his fist and even sens the tickling sensation in my brain from his fingers while his nails punctured his iron gauntlets and scratched my corpus callosum. After that i was dead and dead cannot speak, but others can. The ones listed. (I kept reporting him and he got kicked from the server).
5. Why you think the offender did what he did. - My humble opinion is a pure hatred towards me.

4. Written description of what happened, the whole story. Also what happened before and after. - During one of the maps the accused kept shooting from balista into my clan mate and myself (not at the end or at the start when u dont recieve damage). I decided to let it slide cus w/e but i warned him to stop or i would open a ban thread. Then in one of the next maps is shot him on purpose during the start timer (no dmg) to see if he is a little reporting cunt or not (i didnt report him at all when he shot me wtih balista 2 times). On arena dtv map i shot him accidentally accidentally and he reported. Then, later on i managed to tk him while trying to save him from raging bots (my mistake) and he reported (fine). Next round started and he nudged me so i reported him cus i perceived him as a bad player. Then he started hitting me till he killed me.
5. Why you think the offender did what he did. - Cus i reported him and that is my right given by chadz, and it was my duty to execute that right in such situation.

Suggestions Corner / [ITEM] White Hood and White Sock Cav Boots

So guys since i got approval from several sides i decided to post this as a suggestion. I suggest you add 2 new items to the game. Items are based on Pelt Hood and Rus Cav boots and should be a part of a Lamellar Vest set. What am i talking about? Take a look at the screen shot:

What has been changed?
Only the texture files of Pelt Hood and Rus Cav Boots (normal maps are intact, no need for that really). There was no meddling with 3d models either. Pelt hood got the texture of Lamellar Vest with those brownish ornaments on the edge. Rus Cav Boots have been painted brown instead of current purplish color and they have been given white sock part (also lamellar vest texture) instead of original greenish-brown tone.

Suggested item names:

White Hood
White Sock Cav Boots

Item stats would be the same as original items since this suggestion is only about cosmetic addition to the game and nothing else. I suppose i do not need to put the stats here but if needed just say so.

I suppose this needs files in order to be implemented so here they are.
Original model file for White Hood is to be found within the file zimke_armors_a.brf (cRPG\Resources) under the name Pelt_Hood (and all lod followups). Original model for Rus Cav Boots is located within the file narfs_rus_armour_pack.brf (cRPG\Resources) under the name of rus_cav_boots (and all lod followups).

New texture files:

*I kept the original file names for textures so you guys can easily locate evrything. If its really needed i will ask someone to help me out, but i suppose it aint big of a deal.

Also what happened before and after. -  I accidentally shot him, said i was sorry, he started going away from action just to run to me to nudge me and screw my aim. I reported him as well and then he started team hitting me till i died. During that time i kept reporting him. After that i took screen shot and made this thread.
5. Why you think the offender did what he did. - Cus he is a 2h hero that doesnt know how to move and runs in circles and took an arrow from an archer that was actually trying to do something.

Hello fellow cRPG fans, trolls, pros, noobs, game ruiners, and brave heroes!
I would love to suggest something to make this game more fun for everyone. There are players who like to report others for team hits, there are some who dont do it at all, and there are those how do it when they feel its important to report.
Lets all unite and declare every Monday a Report Day. Lets all report every single team hit and see how would the game feel if everyone would report everybody! Ctrl+M for the win!

Dark times have come and Quincy caravan is being raided. I call upon all the brave heroes of Calradia to aid Quincy clan in the defense against the raider that not only attacked us, the Quincy Clan, but the raider that could damage your own trade missions. Let us send a message together - WE DO NOT TOLERATE CARAVAN RAIDS. We might be outnumbered 2 to 1 but I am more than sure that we have better quality equipment. Expect good payment no matter the outcome, but expect even more if we defeat him.

Don't forget that our confidentiality policy might have use for you in the future, and if u let a random raider go free it might mean that your current or future business might be hindered or ruined.

General Discussion / Athletics and character speed comparison

Hello everyone. I have conduced an experiment with a clan mate to see how much athletics affects speed if you are an archer. We have concluded that low athletics archer and high athletics archer with the same gear have really small speed difference. Our experiment might not be statistically accurate because we did 10 measurements per experiment.
This is how we did it.

SETUP

Experiment 1:

Same weight armor parts: 9.4kg (9.7kg of effective armor weight)
Weapons: none (0kg)
30 meters run. 10m were used to gain maximum speed and time measurement takes place at the last 20m.
Archer1 agility/athletics: 27/0
Archer2 agility/athletics: 24/8


Experiment 2:

Same weight armor parts: 9.4kg (9.7kg of effective armor weight)
Weapon: sheeted Masterwork Horn Bow (2.7kg) and 3 sets of Masterwork Bodkin arrows (3*10kg). Total mass of 32.7
30 meters run. 10m were used to gain maximum speed and time measurement takes place at the last 20m.
Archer1 agility/athletics: 27/0
Archer2 agility/athletics: 24/8

RESULTS

Experiment 1

Archer1 average speed: 3.78m/s
Archer2 average speed: 4.36m/s

Experiment 2

Archer1 average speed: 3.46m/s
Archer2 average speed: 3.87m/s

CONCLUSION

Archer (could be approximated to any other class) with no weapon has an advantage of having athletics skill. Difference between athletics 0 and athletics 8 with agility difference of 27 to 24 is notable. Archer with 24 agility and 8 athletics is ~13.3% faster than the other one. Or in plain numbers if they were running from the same starting position the archer with 24/8 (agi/ath) build would gain 1m advantage for every 7.52m they ran.
On the other hand if they both have additional 32.7kg on their backs you can see that the difference in speed decreases. The average speed difference has dropped from ~13% to 11%. That means that the 24/8 archer must run 9.44 meters in order to gain 1m advantage of distance over 27/0 archer. That means he needs to run additional 1.92 meters to do the same effect. Is bonus 1 meters after running 9.5 meters a big advantage?

The question is, is it now even worth investing in athletics? The speed difference between those 2 builds doesnt seem quite obvious...

Suggestions Corner / [Suggestion]Crossbow Rebalance

I have searched the forum and couldn't find any thread that matches my suggestion. If my suggestion is similar to some other suggestion please post a link and i will tell admins to close this one if it is pretty much the same. Thank you for understanding.

While some of you might see this as a big nerf i would like you to read the thread entirely before you say yes or no.
As we should all know crossbows are kinda easy to use, even if you are not trained that well, but a skilled marksman would always be more deadly than a peasant or a grunt picking it up from the ground and shooting at enemies. This suggestion is about that.
While archers need power draw and throwers need power throw to use their weapon of choice properly (and even use them at all) crossbowmen do not have that requirement. I suggest renaming Power Draw skill into Marksmanship. Both archers and crossbowmen would use it but in a DIFFERENT way. Archers would still have same usage for Marksmanship. Crossbows would still have strength as only requirement but they would have additional requirement to do full damage or a bit more.
How does this work?
Lets see the list of crossbows first in order for this suggestion to make sense and i will put Marksmanship requirement in brackets. All will be explained below the list:
Hunting Crossbow (1)
Light Crossbow (2)
Crossbow (3)
Heavy Crossbow (4)
Arbalest (5)

Reminder, anyone with proper strength would be able to pick it up and shoot/reload. What happens if a guy with 0 Marksmanship takes Hunting Crossbow? He does 50% damage. With 1 in Marksmanship he does full damage. Light Crossbow would deal 50% at 0 Marksmanship and 75% damage at 1 Marksmanship and 100% at 2. Crossbow would do 50% at 0, 67% at 1 and 83% at 2, ofc 100% at 3. Heavy Crossbow in a same way 50% at 0, 62.5% at 1, 75% at 2, 87.5% at 3 and 100% at 4. Arbalest would do 50% at 0, 60% at 1, 70% at 2, 80% at 3, 90% at 4 and normal damage at 5 Marksmanship.
Now what happens when u have more than required. Each point of Marksmanship over the requirement would add 5% do damage up to 20%. Having more than 4 Marksmanship over the requirement wouldn't change the damage output. Marksmanship wouldn't change the accuracy since it wouldn't affect effective wpf.

Summary:
Skill name change: Power Draw becomes Marksmanship
Marksmanship has same effect on archers (bow users) as Power Draw has now.
Marksmanship becomes secondary requirement for crossbow users if they want to do full damage or even some more.
Hybrid crossbow users can still be hybrids with the same build but they would be less effective in the ranged combat.
This suggestion opens up possibility for undoing current (silly) slot requirement for crossbows.

Numbers i presented do not need to be like this. This is my point of view and can be changed if needed.

Suggestions Corner / Battalion Speed

Im new, im lazy, i didnt seach the forum. So if this has been suggested before im sorry.

Name of the thread says "Battalion Speed", and that needs explanation. Everyone who uses WSE has an option to walk instead of running by pressing "ctrl" key. My idea is based on this feature. For everyone that has set a battalion that is not "Battalion 0" now has a speed of the slowest player in the battalion player has assigned himself to if they hold the "walk" button. So they cant walk anymore but they would have reduced run speed while holding "walk" button. Why would i ask for this? Lets say u are a shielder and u say all shielders take battalion 2. You can run at full speed by holding movement keys, but when u move holding "walk" button all shielders run at the same speed. Shieldwall can be effective in motion with no need of intense training cus u cant manage your speed as a group. Cav could benefit as well. Team charges could be much more useful if a cav formation would move in a line or wedge at the same speed.

If u want to be able to walk again just assign urself to battalion 0.

Thoughts?

I dont know how to add poll here so if a moderator could add it it would be great. Just a simple poll (yes/no).

P.P.S.
To avoid confusion. This wont be a buff to movement speed, this wont be a nerf to movement speed. This will be tactical option for players in battalions and its activated by holding down a button, and it turns off after u release it.

The Quincy clan

The Quincy (滅却師 (クインシー), Kuinshī; lit. "Monk of Destruction") in modern terms, they are Human mediums, having the ability to detect the existence of darkness and the ability to absorb and manipulate spirituals flow into weapons.

Archery is the most used form of combat among the Quincy. Extremely accurate, maintaining the distance from highly dangerous enemies as well as launching numerous attacks on multiple opponents gives them a great advantage offensively and defensively.

People say that Quincies can hide sun with an iron rain and that Quincy's victims are considered as purified.

There are no real rules, only guidelines:

- Quincies are honest and pure, they only fight for light and justice, they protect children and virgins too.

- Quincies are polite and helpful, they rarely/never hit ally; they are really sorry when it happens.

- Quincies prefer wearing white clothes (not a rule)

About us

The Quincies are an archer clan and we have decided to start a faction on strategus. Currently we have 15 players in strategus (1 is pretty much inactive) and we intend to increase that number. Our goal is to become the ultimate caravan faction. Any archer may apply to join the clan (we accept alt accounts too), but not everyone can join us on strategus. We consider strategus and "ordinary" servers as separate games, so don't be shy to apply.

Our Fiefs aren't free trading centers and we will defend our s&d accordingly. Anyone who wants to go through our lands should inform us first and they will be granted free passage. Anyone entering our territory without announcement and permit will be attacked without warning.
Government

Quincy Clan is a merchant republic. Decisions are made during meetings usually by the process of voting. Any member with the right to vote can debate their point of view in the matter being discussed at that moment to try to persuade others to support member's view. Nobody is allowed to make independent decisions. Owners of fiefs are not their actual owners, they are just governors who's job is to manage the fief and protect the s&d. All fiefs are property of Quincy Clan and no individual can make any claim on them. Quincy Clan borders can only be changed during the war and/or by buying and selling of fiefs. No individual is allowed to buy and/or sell a fief in the name of Quincy Clan or in their own name.

Diplomacy

We do not intend to make any friends or enemies. Our goal is to try to keep neutrality as much as possible. We do not intend to attack other factions (unless they are an obvious threat for our lands); however we might attack players that are not in any faction. If our target is a neutral caravan working for a faction, the target should tell the faction they work for to send us a message and we will call off the attack and make a note for future reference. We will consider this information strictly confidential and will never share it with other factions. While we don’t want to make any allies, friends and enemies we will try to make as much trade agreements as possible.

Business

Only deals we will make are caravan deals. Every caravan deal we make is STRICTLY confidential and considered privileged information. If the other side cannot promise confidentiality for the potential deal Quincies will not sign it. There is no payment or bribe that could make us break the privilege. We DO NOT do any spy missions. If we start spying on our clients then we will never be hired again. Depending on the business deals we sign we can ask for payment in advance, or after the job is done or part before and part after the job is done.

Rosters

Quincies do not take sides in battles and we cannot be bribed to take a side. We join rosters to gain experience and battle skill.
We encourage all to join our roster when we are under attack. By protecting us you are protecting the caravans that are just trying to earn some money or honor their deals.
Since the Quincy Clan is an archer Clan and Faction we will try to join as many sieges and raids as possible and we will try to join defenders rosters as much as we can, no matter the side. Sometimes we might join the attacking side if we decide to try ourselves in the offensive role.
We will try join normal battles to gain experience and that means that we will often apply for the side with more troops. Sometimes we might apply for the side with less troops.
