Beginner's Help and Guides / Re: The "should I retire?" thread.
« on: December 24, 2011, 02:25:27 pm »
Nope. Level 35 is 142 Million exp, or ~16-17 times level 31. If you go to gen 15 before leveling to 35, you'd have to do 142 Million exp in the time the other dude who never retired has to do 20 Million. You are never going to catch up.

all this without taking the XP bonus in account. i get 7250xp with x5 so... it's little bit faster. roughly 50%.

but there is a big difference in playing with a 21/18 level 30-31 build or a:

or even a:

then you can just run in paesant gear onehitting stuff with your shortened scythe and farm gold for heirlooms.

Retirement advantages
+XP and Gold bonus per retirement (fixed)
+Heirloomed items (also in market)
+You get to enjoy the level 1-30 process (really? after 20 times you do it?)

Disadvantages
-You get to enjoy the level 1-30 process
-You don't get past level 30 (you're level 31 for a few minutes before you retire)

I'm gen...something...and I plan on retiring until I've loomed my heavy lance. My horse is already fully loomed. Once you've got the heirloomed items you desire, there isn't much point in retiring anymore. By then you'll have a decent xp/gold bonus, and will be sick of the 1-30 grind.

i'm gen 19, with the armor heirloom bonus nerf, being 35 with a couple of purchased heirlooms is WAY better.

Awesome a GOT discussion thread! Season 2 needs to come out already!

are the books worth the read?

you mad? you really didn't read the George R. R. Martin books? well i'd say "is the TV series worth to watch?"

chadz, give more XP for Stratagus players, and you'll see the crowds, what this game has not yet seen. XP & Gold is the only motivation for random players/small clans. Is that what you want? I don't know this.

exactly. i still remember the november 2010 pub crawl strat battles with 100k scaled tickets. i did from level 33 to level 39 in 2 battles. something like 9-10 mil xp. oh and guess what? rosters were full every battle.

Zen is not about achieving perfection when playing the game. Zen is about playing the game.

Or like the wise Samurai said:
"They are all puuhfect."

no has nothing to do with zen. japanese aim for perfection, everytime for everything. katanas are an example... but also my good old '95 Honda 1.6 VTI is another example of japanese perfection.

Well, from what Ive seen, whenever someone suggests Japanese gear, regardless of whether its realistic or not, they get the usual spam of "weeaboo!" and "I'm gay for knights so, fuck off" etc. Im a fan of the Japanese warrior, and I think its ridiculous that we have ninja clans running around on the battlefield in black robes, throwing ninja stars about.

As a fan of Samurai, I want realistic gear and Im pretty sure theirs a significant amount of Samurai players who want the same thing, but unfortunately we all get painted with the same brush. By the way Im also a fan of Kurosawa :) Brilliant director

you should not mind the "buhu weeabo!" trolls around. the fact is black armor texture and model sucks too.

for instance the heavier samurai armors are not bad, the helmets are really well done.

Regarding the topic: Removing an armour that many like to use is stupid. I mean, I'm annoyed by silly faces, french armour/weapons, moustaches and that mohawk hat but you don't see me crying for removal.

I take lots of inspiration from Akira Kurosawa:
(click to show/hide)

In any case. Hoods with masks are historically accurate. Lamellar vests are historically accurate. Boots are historically accurate. Katanas are historically accurate. If you have a problem with us combining them, then I apologize for my failure. You shouldn't have seen us in the first place.

- Ninja_Khorin, Keeper of Traditions.

Khorin, following the japanese tradition and mentality of perfection, you should snob those techincally fugly bad modeled / bad textured armors.

anyway i just want to make clear that there is people that troll with the weaboo story, people that call you racist because you don't like a virtual armor and finally people that try to explain where the issue is.

i'm in the last one because i stated several times that the biggest issue for the light samurai armor was the bugged lordly stat applied. the texture and the model is not well done but is not an issue to see that around.

now that the stats are fixed, there is no point in removing it. i would gladly change my vote for the non-removal.

Do TK's count positive? If so that's why archers have the most Kills :P Damn Equip screen....

no.. damn kill counter... when there are 5 team mates bashing a lonely plate tank and the archer really have the need to shoot him also often killing the other 5 mates and start running away when he realize he just saved that plate enemy's life.

Maybe I like strawberries on pizza and you shouldn't tell me what to do.

maybe the biggest part of a restaurant's customers vomit if they see someone eating strawberries on pizza, so the restaurant owner will say to you: "uhm well.. can you go home to eat this strawberry pizza please?"

and is basically what's happened

C-rpg community are anti-Japanese...

not really. is not anti-japanese... maybe anti hokuto-no-ken/naruto/shinobi/tokugawa era stuff.
i'm a big fan of kurosawa, miyazaki, otomo, etc.. but a stat bugged black samurai armor with a really low res texture and low poly model, fits cRPG like a strawberry on a pizza.

maybe you like it, maybe you don't... but heh facts are facts.

I love this poll! Its like, what percentage of the C-rpg community is racist? 66.9% Woooo.
Thats a whole lot of closet racists!

that's BS. i personally don't like the strange armor but i love japanese culture.

following your logic, i should be racist only because i don't like this:

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

but i have nothing against blacks.

There we have it. Proof that 2h is OP and should be nerfed until the cows come home. IT WON'T MAKE THE COW FAT!

ofc 2h/polearms have more kills... they're made for that. 1h is made to pair with a (ranged immunity/autoblocking multiple attacks) shield in left hand...

1h/shield for defence, 2h/polearm for attack... you know...

1h hammers 2-3 hits me like a danish... but they also knockdown and leave the left hand free to accomodate a huscarl/steel shield/heater..

Miley is gen 1, amusingly enough, hence the stupid high level...

Probably something to do with the 24/7 stint of Milanese plate and Flamberge combo that lasted for an impressive amount of time

well if you go bankrupt in 9 months with 9 months or pre-upkeep play, something is wrong. i throw all my gold on loompoints and looms whenever i can and never traded/sold any looms for profit... and my default loadout is 60k gold so... something is not right there.

These threads are always so sad. Especially when people keep begging for looms even after the OP says that they're either gone or he's not giving them away.

the really sad fact is that are so sad you can't even find the good spark to troll...

I would like a loom ;D

I've been playing cRPG since the start, 40.5k kills and 17.8k deaths, and I'm gen. 1. I'm having trouble getting my loomed black lamellar, so I could use a loomz since I don't haz any. And I ruv you!

40.5 kills, you play from the start (spring, summer 2010? no upkeep till feb 2011... ) and you haven't a little bank to afford a +1 weapon?

You can fool some people sometimes, But you can't fool all the people all the time.

And nothing of value was lost, why the fuck do people feel the need to tell the world they're stopping playing?

dunno. besides loom beggars, really few tears. (more like "hey i'm so sad you leave... PLZ PLZ PLZ GIMME YOUR LOOMS!!)

What is this?

something you need to study

Devs should either start playing their own game, or get some advisors that are objective and play the game and have them point out the obvious flaws in this game. Battle is getting less and less fun for me.

edit it before a "buy a shield!" mob scream flood the thread!

no seriously... we need a "ranged only" server...

If Mohammed will not go to the mountain...
