General / Re: Donkey team no longer developing M:BG / OKAM

They still have rights to the engine, right? While all the assets like textures, models, mechanics, programming and even OKAM's concept might technically be property of the publisher, I can't really imagine Donkeys not being allowed to use the engine they made from scratch. Having the engine, it should be a lot easier and faster to develop a new game.

Well, I for one have never formally given away the rights of use of the assets I created externally (character model and some gear). Technically, they couldn't make the Donkeys not use those assets if I agreed to it. I guess same is true for everything other Freelancers created or maybe they themselves before they signed contracts.

So... Bannerlord will be like Warband in that it will mainly be singleplayer and wont feature a grand multiplayer experience?

That this is posted on the cRPG forum greatly amuses me :D *this* is Warband, modded but Warband.

Yeah, my point still stands...

Anyone watching Peaky Blinders? British gangster series set after WW1, apparently it's very good and I'm considering watching it.

Yep, watched season 1 and 2. It's great!

I've done some models for the game.

And that is the primary reason I'd love to have a trial version of this game released to everyone if you can do something like that, it means we get to try out the game, and figure out whether we like it BEFORE we invest our money into it, before buying games I love the ability to try it out before I buy, and if the option is there, I use it, however sadly now there aren't that many people that do things like this, meaning that I either have to take a dive in and say "Meh fuck it, I'll either like it or I'll have wasted my money".

I liked what Life is Feudal (for the final MMO release at least) had in mind concerning that:
you can download the game for free and play 24h on a tutorial island to get used to the mechanics. After that 24h all your progress will be deleted.
When you pay the game your character will be transported to the main island where you have access to everything.

That wouldn't be so bad for oKaM either:
Download the game for free, play against bots on a tutorial map and pay to unlock all the features.

Well, I have been skeptical about oKaM's combat system since they introduced stances in the official dev blog...

BUT I can honestly say that I have been converted by now since I had the opportunity to test it on a daily basis against bots.
It does feel more fluid and fun compared to Warband.

I have lost all interest in playing Warband MP because to me it feels less fun by now.

The only complaint that remained for me is that due to the fluidity of stance changing often enough stances change unwittingly because I still need to focus on having my enemy in the middle of the screen while circling around.
There is a work-around for that however as they introduced a "lock stance" key (natively on ctrl) which works reasonably well.

From the feedback I've read so far I seem to be the only one struggling with that issue so I guess that isn't a game breaking problem afterall.

on topic:

I'm far more excited for oKaM than for Bannerlord simply because I don't really care for singleplayer and I'm generally uninterested in round-based multiplayer matches since 2004 (when PlanetSide 1 was released).
I always wanted multiplayer games to feature big persistent worlds to have meaningful global warfare.

I'm sure Bannerlord will be fun to play for a while but unless there won't be a way better "Persistent World Mod" I can hardly get excited for it anymore.

Yeah, a better Chivalry. There won't be mounted combat and no persistent world or high player counts so it's no real competitor to OKAM nor is OKAM a competitor for Mordhau. Those games will co-exist.
Still there is Bannerlord though...

Good thing we don't all have to have the same opinions...

I would rather see a good old b2p option without any paid content or subscription fees. But Golems's idea with the paid trial option doesn't sound so bad for me either. Idk, if anybody would buy that though.

You would prefer to have interactions with humans only, why? Because of immersion? Because you're scared of AI or you don't recognize their authority, even though it'b given by a human?

Yeah, because of immersion. I'm easily bored by interacting with AI... I think we're playing a multiplayer game for a reason.
But idk, could work either way. I prefered automatic banking in PW to having to seek out an admin and give him your money which was just a pain in the ass.

I'll wait and see what the donkeys come up with.

I don't know. Might work with NPCs if they know exactly what to do. But I would prefer having interactions with humans only.

They don't explain anything... Mance said at one point he was able to unite them all because he said they were going to die (meaning the humans as well as giants apparently)
The horn was shown but nothing was said about it.

What I said about guarding was that you wouldn't have to actively do it... you just need to watch the horizon from time to time. What's the hard and time consuming labor about that?

And how do you expect NPCs to do a better job at it?
