Title: HBO's Chernobyl
Post by: Leshma on May 23, 2019, 02:48:02 am
Do you fuckers even watch it?

They shown fat mans dick on prime time TV. America must be in shock, they aren't used to seeing nude male genitalia, unless it is being blown by a high caliber rifle.

What accents should they have then? The actors seem mainly British/Irish.

They should've hired Ukrainian actors instead of whitewashing Ukrainian history.

There are documentaries if you want that. HBO mainly use British actors, would be hilarious to hear them speaking Russian. It's better this way.

Acting in this show is great, minus Gorbachev. Jared Harris was superb in The Expanse, in Chernobyl he is amazing. Stellan Skarsgard is the same, top level acting, he nailed that Soviet official role.

I started it because of this thread. It's good. Brits can act so that is probably why they used them.

Cool TV show. Really makes you understand on a visceral level how fucked up fatal radiation is.

Unsurprised that the Leshman's first reflex on a thread he himself made to talk about this show, was to comment on dicks and his eternal murcan hatred.

They explained and shown the worst thing about it. You get mildly sick, then you get a lot more sick, then you get better and think you are cured. Battle was lost at the very beginning. Similar thing happens with most severe burns of any kind. Body tries to fix the damage but cannot fix so much damage.

Many of them received fatal dose after couple hours of exposure. That dude who went to see if reactor has truly exploded received fatal dose in less than 30 seconds. Some people received higher dose after less than a second, like Canadian physicist Louis Slotin who started reaction in atomic bomb core and was irradiated while standing near it. In all cases outcome is the same. Cells die and cannot reproduce and with them every organ in human body falls apart

Heard bad things of Chernobyl ep4, seen it, just as great like previous 3. Different tho. Roof cleaning scene is badass, they recorded it like amateur live footage.

The Terror is very good but slow paced. At some point Jared Harris character, ship captain, says something about ship being crushed to atoms. It was strange moment after watching him as Legasov. I really do not care about age of sail so I guess for someone who is into it, The Terror is going to be a treat.
