I am not in this tournament, but bjord is.... but he seems to have trouble with finding free time to do the duels, afaik. You can always hope to meet bjord, since he said that you were too tainted by the native playstyle. It would be fun to see if he is right or not.

I have poopy internet and I very occasionally get 100-999 ping and terrible lag which makes me completely unable to control my character. If I claim lag after I lost and the referee can see my ping being very high, can I then get a do over?

You should seed the participants. Perhaps after a qualification round where everyone's divided into groups. It would help with both organizing and the overall speed of the tournament.

The best way to do it would imo be a new poll with only bo5 and bo7 in it.

If you don't show up it counts as your opponent winning, and even if that wasn't the case one of the duelers could just stand still not blocking or attacking.

You know, there's a dude called 72206_HRE. He records pretty cool videos. You could ask him if he has free time to tape every duel.
There are 24 duels in first round. If you spread them over six days, that is four duels per day. Put a time table, 20:00 to 22:00 (half an hour per duel, if time goes up winner is the player who had the lead). If 72206_HRE can't be there for two hours, find someone else to record duels. That way you only need two judges every day. If you can get four, they'll have less than 30 mins job.
After first round, there's a free day for everyone. Then comes second round, with 16 duels total. Can be finished in 4 days. Rest for a day. Third round with 8 duels can be finished in two days. Quarter-finals will last just one day. Rest for a day. Semi-finals and finals (and fight for 3rd place) can take place on the same evening. Tourney finished. Lasted 17 days total, two weeks of actual fighting.
That way you'll have videos of every single duel and judges. It could be epic, just like the rewards. Not this shit, Teeth fought Zlisch and they say Teeth won so that's it...

You see, if people knew that the voting system was simple majority, they wouldn't have voted the way they did. A vote for an option with very few votes is lost, so you are better trying to vote for the option that best represents what you want and can win. Fewer people would have voted for first to 1 and first to 3, and more would have voted for first to 5, probably to the point that first to 5 would have got more votes than first to 7.

Kpu used MW Longsword when he dueled me. He did stab quite a lot, only few chambers if I recall right. Very fast reactions as well. Tor from my experience goes for left GLA swing and when opponent is blocking that he tries GLA stab to confuse the enemy and then left swing till death.
Also before I came on EU3, Kpu had a duel with Atze and won. I find Atze better macro feinter than Qoray so...

Take for example M's video, everything is filmed from his PoV - that video would not have been as succesful if it was filmed from a sideline. Just my opinion tho :3

I publicly challenge my next opponent, Fuma to a duel, on the agreement that if Panos comes back and doesnt disqualify Matz, the result of the duel will be void.
Any subsequent duel may also be void if the winners choose to continue without an official backing, for the same reasons.
If Fuma accept and the next fighters continue to duel up to the next rounds, they automatically accept that their duels's results could be cancelled up to any point in the bracket.

Suprised to see that such a majority considers Kpu favorite to win. Hes one of the best in cRPG but there are definitely several people in the tournament who are atleast at hes level, fortunately for him none at hes half of the bracket

Terrible weather again, makes the quality look even worse
From a greatsword (not sure which) to longsword. Before the change it was around 2-2, afterwards it changed completely.
Almost no kicks/jumps/360/chambers/nudges, mostly stabbing the ground, feinting/hitting left while going right, and not even that much "good-looking" macros.
It may be an efficient stance on combat but it was painful to watch, Tor vs Kpu was really something else and it only had chambers and "natural" combos!
The worst cRPG very high level duels are those 1 trick pony duels.
There's nothing you can do about 2h; it's a class that needed a nerf since the very start of this mod, but apart from few changes they've never been really nerfed. Back when I was 2h I remeber that from certain angles I could deal full damage and never glance, while if I had used a pole or a 1h I would have surely glanced. No need to mention the ridiculous stab, that can easily hit even when face hugging.Ye just remove from game. :rolleyes:

Atze used some stabs more often though. There were planty of wiggles, true. Other actions are usually too risky to use when compared to the low offense bonus that they provide. It's way easier to get hit but it's only slightly easier to hit an enemy. Duels are borken.

In some lands woman that betrays her husband gets killed, so I am likely to believe that in some countries women may be uninformed when it comes to politics because of the sub-role that they play in the society. I'm just very underwhelmed by the "tension" of this duel.
It is cRPG faults that we have so much incentive for defensive/unnatural moves against more cinematographic fighting styles.
Well M&B is segmented as a realistic medieval fighting game where surviving is key, if you want some Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon-style fighting there are plenty of games out there where you can summon meteorites of angry kittens while 780 degree no-target no-armor huge-irrealistic-weapon&huge boobs dealing 87547392858361957623945762349 damage (admire my keyboard concerto here) and enemy loses 2 hp.

I replied to Butan's post who mentioned floor stabbing as an example of a "dirty" move, and asked if the hiltslashing of Tor and Kpu is more "clean" than the wiggles and stabs of other duelists. Every way to get a hit in is worth to explore, and doing whatever puts you, based on your own specific skills at the best advantage possible, should be the main target. For some, those tricks are lolwiggles, for some there are held sI love youtabs, other relies on held chambers and being patient, and some on hiltslash or kicks etc. Beating your opponent while being put at the least risk while doing so is always the main focus.I am just overreacting when people put word "lolstab" wherever 2h appears just as if 1handers or polearmers couldn't do weird stabs. I understand what you wanted to tell Butan and I agree. Especially if the prize is so high, playing fancy/risky may kill you, not your enemy, but I'm sure Butan knows that as well... if only everybody had low ping we could increase combat's deadliness.
Dubbing some duels as boring because you don't agree with the fighters' dueling style is not my cup of tea.

I'm pretty sure it will be a easy win for atze :rolleyes: Emcure has had a really easy road to finals, most of the tougher opponents from hes half of the bracket resigned (Kpu, Chase, Centurii) and Kpu took out Tor before he went. I imagine that dezi might have been a tougher fight if he had used some proper gear.Realy sucks, this could've been such a cool tournament...
Also would have to definitely disagree with atze, it's about endurance and having high strength is much more important imo.

At this tier of deuling, edurance, and thus not getting thrust stunned/kicked, is key. It gets pretty stale, actually. :(

Too bad so much good players dropped for one reason or another, but Atze trunched through a tough bracket and his win is well deserved, congratulations. Just so you know (Not sure if Panos mentioned it already), next tournament will get the first three a place as a bot in dtv. Winner will get a whole wave of his own. I really hope you guys will continue to make these lovely tournaments even in the case of panos not organizing them anymore.^^

It would be awesome if we could have some kind of arena (like WoW) for 2 vs 2 fights on a regular basis, with teams rating and such, just like current duel rating... just dreaming.

If it looked like I wrote negatively about your tournament or rules in my post then I'm sorry, it was never my intention. You invested a lot of time in making a good tournament, something which is needed in this community. I had fun watching a couple of the duels as well.
Still, my personal preference is still there. I didn't join this duel tournament because fighting ton of armour is tedious, and that to me is no fun, which was basically what I wrote in my previous post. I wouldn't ask for anyone else to change their armour, builds or whatever to fit my own definition of fun, but I won't do anything I don't personally like either. :wink:

One thing for the next time: strict and binding time slots of max 3 days per bracket without any option of excuses. I think that this has to be very strict to keep the whole process flowing and the interest high. Other than that I had my share of fun, even if only as ref.While the amount may be discussable BEFORE the tournament starts, this. No matter what, it should happen. Also there should be a second in command (maybe a lead ref) who can take decisions in case the tournament organiser has to be afk for whatever reason, so that this does not happen, since in this case we did not manage to continue it.
2vs2 with a ranged and a melee in each team ?I think the shielder and throwing lance team would win rather easily tbh. With only one ranged guy, you can negate the opposing team's single ranged character rather easily, until you get close enough to start lobbing lances. Have the shielder turtle/distract the the other team's melee once he's close enough for the thrower to start fighting the archer, then 2v1 the other melee/chuck the rest of the lances.(click to show/hide)
