500g a head is pretty low. most people are paying ~1k a troop

Yes, but that 1000g is c-rpg gold. Given the apparent market determined exchange rate of 8-10 crpg gold: 1 strat gold, I'd say 500k strat gold for 1000 troops is a great deal.

His offer is nearly 4 times market value, according to the Tydeus Index^TM, of 127.5 strat gold per troop.
