Ladies and Gentlemen.

I got excited by yet another idea for a round of big battles. I'll try to make some bulletpoints and then afterwards explain in details.

- The battles will be centered around a "story". A crusade. To begin with I image 3 battles with a size of 65-90 people on each side.
- The two sides, Crusaders and (saracens?) will have a group of commanders, I guestimate 3 per side.
- The commanders must prioritize the troops available. Each side will have 250 predifened troopers.
- Players sign up individually.
- We'll use the battlegroups system

More in detail.

The commander must prioritize which troops he will field in each of the three battles.
Each of the battles have a predifened number of participants on each side.
Each player must use a skip-the-fun character named as described below and then join the ladder group for confirmation.

What?

Lets say that 40 of the crusaders troopers are called sergents. A sergent has predifined equipment.
The crusader commanders chooses to bring 30 sergents to the first battle. this open 30 sergent spots for the battle.
each player wishing to join the crusaders as a sergent creates an stf char called Cru_Sergent_1 or Cru_Sergent_2 etc. all the way up to thirty.
First you report in that you wish to play that sergent, then you are confirmed by the commanders and then your stf char can join that ladder faction.

There will only be one round. This might seem weird, but the commanders may choose to retreat, players may choose to surrender, and "killed" chars have a chance to survive which enables the commander to use them in the next battle.

In other words. These battles are supposed to have three layers.

1) The commanders have strategic decisions on when to deploy certain troops classes and how many of them
2) The players have a chance to play across clans with a lot of people
3) The player have a chance to survive or die with several chars through a fictive crusade.

What do I need?

First of all, is this a good idea?
Does any of you want to try out commanding these things?
When?
After the summer, best guess end of september.

Nice idea but I think that chadz still didn't fix the battlegroup mode because nobody used it yet after the bug was reported.

I might just have gotten some chadz-time this weekend.

Sounds like a perfect time to implement these http://forum.c-rpg.net/index.php/topic,34914.msg527277.html#msg527277

And how about the templars scrape some money together to let Zimke Zlovoljni make some awesome crusader armies for a good price, eh? Like we did with the Byzantium armors.

Sounds complex but interesting, needs some good desert maps for atmospheric purposes.

Always loved these battles :)

Just know that I won't be signed on as a commander this time. By the time the tourney is going on, I'll be in Vietnam.

This sounds like fun. I would be interested (if I don't forget to come to the Events forum for another 4 months)  :P

Only EU, IIRC.

Also Tristan, do some spell checking lol. Predifened is not a word, predefined is.

Anyway, I support this 100%, was a lot of fun last time albeit very laggy.

Totally -1 that post due to the fact you simply could not post about how awesome this is.

I don't have to, because I was there the first time. Were you even there? In fact, was any NA?

It was only EU clans, and no offense meant but I hope that will remain. Playing with 100+ ping makes little sense when you're not forced to play.

It's on EU server regardless.

That shouldn't bar NA participation, if only on the individual level. If someone would like to be a part of this, it should be up to them.
If it kills me, it's OP.

I'd say up the rounds. Lots of organization for only one round? Sounds like a waste. If we ever get so much people, it'd be better if we do more.

Would participate, but only if I got to play as a Saracen, crusaders suck!
1H stab is the fastest, strongest and longest 1H animation. There's no reason NOT to use it in all instances. I don't know if it's OP, but it's boring. 1H used to be fun because you had a fast (left), long (right) and the most devastating attack (stab) and had to choose the best attack for each occasion.

Just got back for vacation. I'm still tossing ideas around my head.

I agree that just 1 battle is not so much. But hour long battles were most definitely too long. And with only one skip the fun char per week, something smart has to be figured out.

Those who might be interested in commanding should contact me so we could talk a bit about what to do.

Regarding NA, I won't bar any one, but lag is going to be an issue. If this works it might however be easy to duplicate?

Great Ideas take time to mature and if I can get the battlegroups mode working or some other smart way of doing this, I'll still do something about this.
