I saw a few discussions online regarding Comic-Con vs: Dragon Con and from what I've read, comic-con is industry-driven, Dragon Con is fan-driven.  Comic-Con shows upcoming movie promotions and focuses more on celebs whereas Dragon Con has more of a focus on the fans and costumes and parties.
