version 1.0 is releasing on friday, ive been waiting a long time...

dunno how many of you have tried PR, but I've bumped into at least 1 crpg player over there.

I got into it after playing BF3 despite the massive gfx downgrade because the gameplay is simply insanely better. 1.0 is going to improve/change alot, the big things for me is new bullet deviation and 100 player servers.

Played it a lot on BF2. It was fun though a little bit easy to be dicked over and spend an hour getting killed over and over if your teams team work is awful.

true, its not for everyone. team work is everything compared to other FPS where you run around solo. if you have a bad squad you're going to have a bad time. squad sizes are much bigger now, with more kits, will be interesting to see how it pans out. personally am looking forward to more than 1 medic per squad. also the 3d voice chat is integrated into the client, so no more mumble checking.

Used to like it in the early stages. After that I think it's become a bit too try-hard. What the battles essentially are is a half hour hike and camp somewhere midst nothing until finally confronting enemy. Then the game engine really shows its limitations. Aiming an RPG at unaware vehicle without having a clue if it's aimed or not due to static sights etc etc. Guess it's a pretty nice game for the genre but not my stuff.

Used to play this a lot years back, when the Insurgency modes came out I played the most, was good fun setting up ambushes on enemy veichles and squads. I remember being up on a mountain beside a road, a blackhawk helicopter flew past so close that as it passed us I was shooting and hit the pilot in the back of the head, we jizzed our pants when it went down and exploded with everyone inside.

Also remember blocking the road with cars, then hiding in the ditches either side of the road with guys using RPGs up on the rocks to one side, then shooting the shit out of 2 humvees that tried to smash through the barricade to no avail.

Halal Snackbar!

I'll play this again soon.

yes, insurgency is pretty much only mode I play. the other mode (AAS) in comparison feel too much like other FPS's (conquest), altho I did enjoy the vietnam maps a bit. and yeah roleplaying terrorists and hearing everyone alu ackbar when an american vechicle blows up never gets old!

Took them bloody long enough D:

Started playing PR around 2009 and played a couple of years. We had a clan and all and used to do clan scrims. Was fun. Some of the developers are huge dicks though.

I have been interested for a while in taking this up seriously and playing it with a squad, seems like it could be a rather epic and tense experience if played correctly. Perhaps now is the time.

The best gaming experience of all time. Too bad BF3 and newer didn't support modding and BF2 engine reached it's limits causing lots of crashing and stuff that could never be added (fastropes anyone? :D)

Since it's hard or impossible to buy BF2 nowadays I'll just give a small tip; Since the GameSpy servers went down lately you no longer need a valid CD-key to play PR or Forgotten Hope 2.

Wow hadn't seen this "squad" game.

Its kind of confusing because there are now a few PR spiritual sucessor games in development, and all seem to be from people who made PR mod.

project reality 2 is being made on cryengine

PR version is also being made for arma 3 (althought I doubt it will ever come out)

and also there is TacBF mod for arma 3 which I haven't played, but is also made from people who worked on PR mod and is pretty much same sort of mod.

About "squad" wow looks alot like the BF2 mod, graphics are alot better in some areas, but maybe they are using some of the bf2 assets? I'm hyped tho.
