Alternative repec "payment"

I would suggest implementing an alternative payment method for respeccing. that half xp thing really kills the motivation sometimes you fucked up your build or when you just want to try a different one. So there should be the alternative to pay with gold.


You could base it on a players generation (and lvl).

For example:


Gen1, lvl 31 - 150 k (half the money of an average Lp) -  x 1 (gen) = 150k


Gen16, lvl 31 - 150 k x 2,6 = 390 k

Gen16, lvl 32 - 300 k x 2,6 = 780 k

and so on.

The generation multiplier starts at 1,0 and is added 0,1 / gen.

The base money for a respec is half the xp in gold (based on a loompoint equal)


Also i would love to see free respecs for new players - one / char.


Why?

I'd rather lose money than hours and hours of "work".

can you get me about 10 lps if you get them for 300k each? i only find ones for 400k :/

apart from that good idea, but i think for higher levels it should be even more gold, for lvl31 you can retire for 1lp, thus you should pay at least the price of one loompoint to respec, lvl32 make it 2 lps, lvl33 make it 3, lvl34 make it 5 and so on

after all a "gold-respec" would be so much more worth than a -50%exp respec

the -50%exp respec should still be used, and the gold-respec shouldnt be supposed to replace the exp-respec completely (which would happen if the amount of gold you would have to spend wouldnt hurt you)

there is still that "training lessons" thing you can buy in the auctions which basically is a gold respec, but its ass-expensive and only worth it if you are lvl35 or 36
so for whoever can afford that, the new gold respec would only be worth it if they didnt manage to get a cheap training lesson
so for 35/36 it would be either 'be patient and wait til you get cheap training lessons' or 'spend a bit more gold but get an instant respec'

for the lower levels its definitely cheaper to go for the instant one


and for level 2-30 you could just make it cheaper, but make it linear, so if its 20k golf from lvl2-lvl3 its 40k for lvl3-lvl4 or something, so that in the lower levels the exp-respec is used more often than the gold respec

There's already an option to use gold (instead of XP) to respec your character.  There's an auction every week or two that allows gold to respec your build instead of experience.  The people who are spending a million + gold on these training lessons would be pretty upset if they started allowing anyone to respec for gold (for a fraction of what they paid).

All that in consideration, I think it would a good way to get some gold out of the economy if they made level 30+ respecs cost like 500,000 gold.

Yes which completely is out of reach for new players (gen 1 or 2) because they dont have 1 m up their veteran asses.

if a training lesson would be only 1 mil then id be happy and i wouldnt have wasted so much exp respeccing

unfortunately these lessons are around 3mil, sometimes 4+mil even which is even after 5 gens and selling lps and stuff way too far out of reach

I don't know why you guys struggle with opportunity cost.  If you're level 32 and can either respec or retire, you stand to either spend 3 million on your respec or retire and get 800k.  A respec at that point is not worthwhile.

At 33 it's spend 3m vs get 1.2m.

34 spend 3m vs get 2m

35 spend 3m vs get 3.2m

36 spend 3m vs get 5.2m

Of course there are the usual stipulations with retiring.  However, you have to realize that even if you buy a respec, you can still retire and get your LPs (and therefore your gold)

Basically if you're 35, it costs nothing to buy a respec but you're giving up your earning potential in advance.  So, if you think about it, training lessons are just about perfectly weighted.

Knowing how much time I've wasted on respeccing (often for minor things) for my fault it could be a lot less restrictive. A free respec per month per account why not or what Fin suggests. I don't see how more build dynamics would harm anything.

I also want to see free respecs for chars below level 20 (unlimited times), it really doesn't matter at that point I don't think. Let people change their builds / fix mistakes without having to pay for it.

Besides, something should change about leveling, because this game is a massive grind unless you play strat.
