I bought this awesome computer so that I may be able to make game play videos of myself and others.

However I have been incredibly lazy but seeing sosarian and aderyn post some videos sparked up why I bought this computer.

These are my first recordings using fraps.  What I want to accomplish is a base quality on what to record this game at for future videos.

After I uploaded them I realized that I couldn't view them at high quality even though the quality looked great from the mpeg.  I was getting 90fps while recording.  Maybe I should try full size instead of half size for recording.

Oh and here are my comp specs.  Feel free to tell me if I can easily upgrade something to make recording easier/better.

When I've attempted to record battles with fraps at 1080 res over 30fps with 100 people or more, the video freezes often.

30 fps should be fine for record.

Try full screen, that half screen setting is messing up the chat when I try to view it in full screen mode. Note, files will likely be 4x as big due to this.

Dunno, don't see any compression settings for the video on the free fraps version.

There was some other freebie out there that you could save uncompressed and upload to a site.. wegame .. but I think they smartened up and made it more restrictive, or simply stopped recording 'temp' uncompressed avi's.

It takes a bit of fiddling to get just right. And if you know nothing about codecs, have no way to compress the videos, etc, it may not be for you. It can however save uncompressed avi's which you can later use to find your best quality - again though uncompressed avi's are going to eat up hard drive space pretty quickly.
Last I heard, and this may have changed, YouTube will recompress 'large' videos. I suppose there is vimeo.

Also the cool thing about fraps is that buffer.  You can capture stuff that happened 30 seconds ago, so record all your badass moments

That's what my fraps setting is as well, if you want better quality go to the nvidia gpu setting and move the slider under the nvidia logo to quality, I know when I did this the chat and kill list got a lot more crisp. And all you need for crpg is the texture quality, and maybe character as well but everything else gets in the way.

Also the cool thing about fraps is that buffer.  You can capture stuff that happened 30 seconds ago, so record all your badass moments

So here is my problem...

I am trying to record at a higher rate butfraps makes it separate every 4 gb's.

So now I recorded Rhaelys one round in spectator.  However it is two files. I have to figure out how to merge them upload them to youtube.

One suggestion: Don't label your videos with 'Menstrual Monsoon'.
