General Discussion / Re: Where'd cRPG Go?
« on: March 15, 2015, 10:21:22 am »

i know i know...lemme guess "post pics for proof or get the fuck out"

that would be quite the long list...

so ill give a few, a pic for every patch era.

Man you really wanted to give yourself an excuse to post those screens lmao.  What, were we supposed to be impressed by your cherrypicked MLG progamer screenshots of siege (13 players l0l), conquest, and strat?  And think that your opinions are more valid for it?  Also, no pics from proximity-xp era 8-).  For real though, you're not that good and your opinions don't hold any special weight.

General Discussion / Re: [Poll] Feedback on 2h stab.

Way to miss the point entirely.  I said "despite" precisely because I was not questioning Senni's motives, rather those of many of the people posting in this and other threads and voting in accompanying polls.

Despite Senni's insistence that the change wasn't motivated by it, it seems like a lot of the support for the change is due to a perception that 2h, and especially its former stab, was op and the change is a deserved nerf.  Now I don't really know what things are like in *EU, but I find that notion a little absurd from an NA perspective.  When there is actually stuff on the line, NA players overwhelmingly use polearms.  90% of the NA tournament duelists used pole, including the winner and all the top finishers.  I think an even greater proportion used polearms in the 3v3 tournament, including literally everyone in the finals match (and this is after pole overhead was rightfully nerfed).  It's quite telling that as [in]famous and dedicated 2h players as exist in this mod, such as Allers and Noodles, switched to polearm when it came to actual, structured competition.  If 2h and its stab were so powerful, one would think it would be a more popular choice in these situations.

*I heard that Chase won the EU duel tournament using a Nodachi (no stab).  I'd be curious to hear what the weapon breakdown in the EU 5v5 tournament was like.

As for the new animation itself, it's actually a lot better than I initially thought.  I certainly wouldn't consider it a reason to change classes if you were 'dedicated' to 2h.  The decreased range is quite noticeable against cavalry and long-ish, stabby 1hs, though.  I'd suggest increasing the 2h turn rate slightly to reflect the loss of range and perhaps making the stab very, very slightly faster.

The new Katana and Nodachi models look like shit.  Change them back.

The real travesty is giving the cleaver penalty with shield.  This is a completely undeserved nerf to Swedish Chef.

General Discussion / State of the NA servers
« on: February 18, 2015, 01:14:14 am »
They have been abnormally laggy for the last ~month and a half.  It feels like almost a 1/3 second delay on blocks/attacks/hit detection fairly often.  Asked people on the server multiple times over this period if they felt it too, and about half say they do.  I've seen people complain about it themselves more than a few times.  Any other NA players or devs want to chime in?

You thinking I'm a dick for pressing M the first time (which literally does nothing) after your failed lance attempt that interrupted my own free hit on an enemy and knocked me down doesn't entitle you to follow me around for the rest of that and the next 4 rounds attempting to run me over (often while I was fighting) or tk me.  Nor does it justify your abortive kick poll.  My relative success despite your best efforts to hinder it is immaterial.

so I was like fuck that guy and tried to kill him at the end of round.

You're lying.  The screenshots show that your two couch lance tk's occurred 1:28 and 0:23 into the rounds.  Thanks for admitting it was intentional, though.

No one thinks enough of you as a person to care about any apology you might make.  Within the the only context that we know each other (cRPG), you're garbage, and from what I've heard from some other players that likely holds true in real life as well.

to any admins: this is the first banthread I've made in almost 5 years of playing this mod and I've been intentionally tw/tk'd plenty.  I don't get mad about a few intentional teamhits (hi sauce) and post threads or try to troll people into incriminating themselves.  Really it's the sheer malicious persistence of this shitheel across so many rounds and rejoins, culminating in a kick poll, that motivated me to put this up.

You're right, objecting to one person's proposed changes is the same thing as objecting to all change... derp

Complaints about spam?  Suggestion to make both attacking and blocking slower?  Desperate plea for more "tactical" gameplay.  Is this thread actually just a parody list of Awful Player ideas?

Slower swing speed makes blocking easier but it encourages people to really think about which attack type to use and outplay the other guy.

It's like you've never even played the game.

ITT No Rules Just Play preaches to everyone about lifting while squatting 100 kg lmao.  People have different goals and even if you're right about some stuff you just sound like an overzealous noob who started browsing /fit/ last month and just finished reading Starting Strength 3rd Edition™.  I mean the OP is pretty much a not-that-subtle look at me guise i lift

lol @ talking about teamwork and class balance in a game where the only objective of the primary game-mode is simply to murder the other team.  Melee sticking together and ranged crossfiring melee in loose groups is as far as teamwork has gone or will go 95% of the time.  You'd think that after 4 years people would stop talking like this wasn't the case.  And it's not going to change because you trotted out this tired argument.  People don't have the motivation via meaningful in-game objectives or the means of easy public communication for teamwork to occur.  Maybe things would be different with a better reward system combined with a game mode like Conquest as it was originally proposed (not the 30 minute siege we have now).

If you think archery is too weak, just come out and say it instead of entertaining this fantasy of a cRPG that has never existed.

I'm pretty sure the combat will become fast enough when people get their high levels. Native characters are much slower than most of crpg ones, even when considering levels 30-33 for comparison.

It's not about how fast your character can run or swing a weapon, it's about fluidity.  It also doesn't make sense intuitively/realistically in the way it affects stabs.  It's easier to turn with weight in line with your centerline than out to the side.  The idea of length/weight affecting turn rate isn't a completely awful one, but it's current implementation is incredibly hamfisted.  Either revert or dial back the formulas so that it becomes a small difference that can be skillfully maneuvered around instead of the Unmovable Boulder of Clunkiness that it is now.

General Discussion / Re: Upcoming "Revival" patch

Last time something was supposed to be 'soon' was individual weapon turnspeeds and that took like 7(?) months.  Wonder if the devs can give us an over/under on, say, two months.
