Game Balance Discussion / Re: Calvary needs a buff.
« on: February 24, 2011, 05:34:34 pm »
You know, i wonder how many archers, throwers, and polearm people voted on this thread that horses dont need a buff. it really pisses me off since the patch that horses suck ass; people like that just rub salt in the wound... they fight ranged because they cant fight hand to hand. oh, and God forbid if calvary is the only units that can kill them while they run away for a better shot.

My retort is that people fight hand-to-hand because they don't know how to fight range (I have seen the vast majority of archers shoot and it disgusts me).

Regardless, in all seriousness, I am an archer and I voted Yes, as Cavalry are a good counter to archers. As it is, Cavalry costs too much upkeep in my opinion. I have memories of 10 cav on one 90 person map, but I have much more memories of there just being two or three (Too few) in that size of a fight.

We need to see just a little more cav, somehow, or some kind of buff to make them more viable.

It needs a buffing. Also the Throwing Lance used in melee needs a buff too. It does 1 less damage in the thrust

I thought the throwing lance was weak in melee due to it omfgwtfbbq-ing everyone it hits in range?

I have zero athletics, if I outrun you, you deserve to be outrun. Period.

Secondly, admins can take out the people and kick them if there is just one lone archer left "delaying" a battle, and to be fair I have seen MORE melee troops do this crap then archers. Ever time I have seen someone do this repeatedly they get kicked/banned. There you go, problem solved, now get out of the forums and back to playing.

I have a feeling you are a slow tin can of some sorts... or someone who keeps getting outrun by archers in battle and have them shoot you in the face because you are away from supporting team mates (Archers on your own team/agil speed demons).

seems like the best thread to propagate a longbowmen clan
any of u up for it^?

You know, my next Gen I was going to retire and make a shield poker speed demon, but with all the people incapable of dealing with the dedicated support class (Archer), I think I may retire and heirloom my warbow just to spite people and keep running an archer...

Balton is lysdexic, he meant to say 3'6".  We've all seen his pic, he's a short wafer thin emo kid no older than 16 as evident (if that).

He does need to be shorter, because this:
I am 82.27kg, bud.
Means he is under weight for a competetive athletic body at 6'3" no and-if-or-buts about it.

I am 6'3" (190.5cm). It's doubtful that there are many people here who are taller than me. I definitely know you are not.

You grow fast, as a week ago you said you were 6' 2"

I guess you can deadlift your height like it is air too...

Apart that great lance has 55 speed?

But mine was just a question not a solution or what your inventing read the title I wanted to know the reasons and none was justified why cav need an unblockable 1 hit attack /end thread

Please stop reviving the thread as people think I am reviving it and keep on thinking I am suggesting but mine was a curiosity what people think and got the answers.

I love how people ignore you.  :(

Also could give new players a low-stress environment to grind up in.

There is stress in this game? I think I am not understanding you properly and thinking of something else.

Lol.  I'm sure it annoys the shit out of archers when people do that

Its a pity there is no M. Jackson Moonwalk button.  I'd wee meself if I saw someone doing that and dodging arrows at the same time.  :D

Heh, actually it does not annoy me too much, personally, as I know then I am facing a player who can play the game properly and thus is a challenge to land a hit. Most everyone I know who claims Archers need a further nerf/require-no-skill have a strange fascination with ignoring arrows or presenting backs to archers.

As for moonwalks, I would laugh too hard to do anything, we must have this!

and village maps tend to favor the other classes, obviously, i would love some open maps...

Ah, but see, Melee classes love close-in maps due to them not worrying about a hailstorm of arrows and unexpected cav charges. Melee classes are also the majority of users, and add to the fact that Throwers want cover to get to their targets, you get open-maps viewed in a poor light.

Can't fault you there  apart from the fact that I should not be able to take the piss by playing dodge the pointy stick because I can see the damn thing coming.  :D

Give this man a prize, he watches incoming arrows! You deserve a cookie for paying attention instead of being unaware and whining when my arrow greets your face.

General Discussion / Re: Question regarding couch

It's funny how all the justifications for couched damage can be applied to the soon to be nerfed barmace. I said it's only obvious that the barmace is being nerfed, becuase with a particular build it gave an unfair advantage, but the same applies to some (not all) couched damage weapons.

Last I checked the Bar mace has more then one direction of attack, and can dodge and weave in a melee. The Couched lance forces you to take a very predictable line of attack and have anyone with a moderate amount of skill (Even I have done this, and that is saying something) jump up to the side and slice the rider in two, avoiding the predictable couch.

Beginner's Help and Guides / Re: Archer build
« on: February 23, 2011, 06:18:20 am »
I honestly don't understand how you claim to have less long-range accuracy and say that your reticule is smaller for longer periods of time.  I think the build with the smaller reticule for longer time would necessarily have better long range accuracy.  Unless what you're saying is that your reticule is NOT smaller than a high WPF build, yet holds its maximum accuracy for longer... in that case you may be correct.

This, completely, and thus allows me to react better against unexpected movements by targets (Like those bloody horse archers).

As for the rest of your post, of course you are better in archer duels. In my experience I onyl win if I catch them unaware and get that first "Surprise Shot," or if we are unusually close (say 20 meters or closer, urban fighting).

Your build is much better for general battlefield support, I ust like mine better due to it suiting my playstyle more; traveling with friendlies and providing close support instead of hanging back and sniping.

All in all, builds like yours are better I think as they offer more flexability. My build shines only when I have good covering teammates and if the enemy team is cav-heavy or crossing choke-points. I am really built for taking out armored ground pounders, not enemy archers, heh.

Versus cav/melee you have a chance to kill them, versus range, you don't. And what are you talking about, I haven't even played today... As for my gear, I wear whatever I consider to be stylish.

I said last few, last "Few" not "Today". Last few as in the last few matches I was in that had you in them as well.

What are you talking about?!

I am currently rocking a 24str build (more than average health), and I get 1-shot by xbows, and 2-shot by archers on a pretty consistent basis.

All ranged should be nerfed, with all of the heirlooming going on, the same problem has arisen that was here pre-patch, ranged has become a way for noobs to easy-kill skilled players that don't dump multiple points into shield on every single build. And let's face it, a noob shouldn't be able to consistently take out a player that they wouldn't even be able to hurt, were their builds identical.

What on earth are you wearing for armor? And noobs can not shoot to save lives, given they can not lead a target for crap. Games involves significantly more top-scoring throwers/meleeists then they do archers.

As for 1-shot by xbows, that is due to them shooting you in the head (the last few matches without fail I saw you getting one-shot only due to head shots). Last I checked you do not ride around on peasent gear. Nerf throwers? Yes. Nerf archers who soften more then kill? Why?

I have yet to see any "noob" who can consistently take targets out with a bow, due to, again, not ebing able to track multiple targets and thus get ganked by a melee user due to tunnel vision, as well as being worthless worthless shots.

Usually when a guy goes down at range due to "noobs" it is from a half dozen archers shooting at you, and face it even in melee a half dozen players ganging up on someone usually results in a death.

I am reminded of how many Melee/Cav characters that can one shot people too... Are they unskilled then?
