Why do I get 200 ping on a server in Germany when I live on east coast? Normally on servers in native and other mods i get 135-150 ping, Is there something with the mod that makes the ping so much higher??

So krixxus (on my team) and his buddy (on the other team.) were standing right next to each other as his buddy shot a crossbow at some cav guy, so I go up and kill his buddy, (again, he is an ENEMY, and krixxus is a friendly) and krixxus doesn't seem too happy, about 30 secs later krixxus catches up to me, runs up with his left swing held and kills me, not an enemy around, then claims it was due to my banner not showing up.
