All I really want is for this lovely autistic mod to be even half as populated as the days of glory of which memories often run through my head and bring a grin to my face. I've had several conversations with fellow internet spergs regarding strategus lately. I ain't trying to bitch at nobody or about anything.

Anyway, for the last 2-3 weeks that I've found myself playing the game nearly every day, I've noticed something that I am surely not alone in. NA1's population is quite better than it has been in the near and far past; been really loving topping out at ~65 or so on NA1. Absolutely fantastic and some older faces coming back is really cool. Unfortunately, there are some problems with the Test Round of strat that we find ourselves in temporarily.

I've seen the server repeatedly killed in its infancy by strat battles (that folk are going to complain about if they get back in NA1, putting a bad taste in new/returning players mouths) in this test round. I understand the necessity of testing certain faction balance elements (of which I also have plenty of quibbles but thats not here nor there atm) and things like that. Even so, it is folly to expect the players of this mod en masse to completely understand and be cool with shitty battles going on killing NA1. You've basically got 20-30 nerds throughout different timezones and schedules that are probably gonna show up to every battle regardless. You've got a few that won't show up to anything unless asked or they get a wild hair up their ass. But mostly, you've got people that won't show up unless they think its gonna be FUN.

Further, with the large returning population and even several new players, we really want them to join up to as full of a server as possible. If they see 20-30 max my old friendets in an awful siege or naked hijinks or other shit experience and 15 people on NA1 it ain't gonna be as good for *continued* population and play as 50-60 fuckers in NA1 having a good time.

Please Dave or other requisite authorities, I beg you. For the sake of this mod, will you just lock strategus until the reset on the 26th? I should've requested this a week ago or more, but oops. Frankly, I don't care all that much about people having a poor time in the battles of this round. They are there by their own volition and free will, after all. Those fuckers could just leave and be like "wow what a shit battle good thing i didn't stay for 30 minutes or more and be pissed off lol". But the people just trying to return to the game, the new players, and the (likely most intelligent of us all) players that simply won't participate in anything less than a good battle are who I am concerned about.

ninja nerd edit: keep chinaman/eurotrash strategus battles open because lol. keep test battles because "test"

... and all the other things floating around out there / Starsector

I bought this game in 2011 when it was a barely-playable combat demo and forgot about it until yesterday. Obviously didn't have my key anymore so emailed their support basically like "hey here are 4 email addresses i might have used and 6 potential usernames can you please gib key i bought this 7 years ago" and they sent me another key so now I am compelled to shill it

One-man dev team, working full-time on the game. Luckily, it seems like a very strong point is the steadfast community of spergs making mods for it. Seems like several "future planned" features are now implemented well through mods before the developer got to them.

Basically top-down mount and blade in space, once I get some hours back in this thing I will report back further

hey gamers!

So yeah, my noggin was doing some joggin' the other day and I was thinking to myself "u know sometimes u just gotta go get someone in strat and its a fucking awful time for a battle" and then I thought "u know even if its not an awful time 4 a battle why cant we have more good times??"

Suddenly I had a flash of inspiration, suspicious that it came straight from the sperg Muse himself (the loving memory of Smoothrich)

What if there was a field in the settings area of strategus titled Mutually Agreeable Battle Time or some bullshit like that? In that field you've got a span of 2 hours or so of your choosing that you would prefer any battle involving your strat party would take place. Say I'm one of the few, the proud, the gainfully employed and my ass has got work at 9am. I'm ok with being up at 10pm but not if a battle is gonna take 2 fucking hours, you knawmean? So I'd set my MABT(tm) for 6pm-8pm EST.

If the two parties involved in the battle have MABT set at the same time, the battle is scheduled during those hours. For simplicity, you could make it the earliest possible agreed-upon hours.

If there's some bullshit 200 man unarmed fief battle thats gonna take all of 2 minutes, the MABT ignores that battle as if it doesn't exist. A battle pushed back by 5 mins ain't shit. If a battle of reasonable size (500 tickets or more on both?) is taking place at the earliest agreed-upon time, the MABT battle is pushed back at some arbitrary increment.

If its a real nerd night and battle are popping off all over the place, the standard 24h will apply.

naturally i have absolutely no coding or practical CS knowledge, i did clumsily administrate and run FTP shit on a DoD:S server once tho that was pretty cool

what do u think?

hi

Ok, so I made a gimmicky as fuck build that I fell in love with right after the patch of destiny, or whatever you call it. You know, the one where the "standard" levels were raised far higher than they were previously.

So I'm 33-15 with 11 PS, 5 WM, 5 Ath, 2 Shield, but most importantly 0 IF. This used to work AMAZINGLY; I just use +3 transitional plate and heavy gaunts to compensate for the lack of IF.

Recently I've been made aware that the powers that be tied IF to proficiency so my shithead build won't work anymore. So, uh...just how bad is this build now? I still get plenty of oomph on folks when I hit them, but I seem to swing quite slower now. I've got to determine just how many cocks I'm sucking and how much of my poor performance can be chalked up to the build.

Right, so when I retire in a dozen mil XP or so, I'm looking to go STR-based shielder. I won't go any lower than 27 strength; is there any real w ay to have a viable shielder with 30 strength? Keep in mind that when in combat against fewer than 3 people and no present ranged I'll be dropping my shield. I absolutely love dueling and fighting without it. I'm aware that I WILL get backpedaled hard, especially with my preference to short+quick weapons. If someone is mercilessly backpedalling me, I'm going to convince myself now (won't work like this in-game mostly lol) that I'll just turn and fight someone else.

thoughts pls

Suggestions Corner / Retaining stolen/picked-up weapons after round end
« on: February 15, 2016, 05:12:20 pm »
Simple enough, I've spoken to a few nerds about this and they certainly do miss this long-gone feature. I don't seem to remember much fuss being made about it either way when it was removed; maybe there is a technical limitation now imposed that I'm unaware of.

I have a vague recollection of the argument against it being "de-valuing looms", since any player could pick up and retain a +3 item without having to work for it. While I do not agree, at least the argument made a bit of sense in those days. Looms and LPs were very precious, and the economy was drastically different.

Anyone else feeling this? I'd adore being able to keep a slain enemy's weapon in order to humiliate him further. Ideally, I'd kill some poor fellow on the first/second round, steal his weapon, and continue killing him with it each round afterwards.

General Discussion / Post-patch builds of choice
« on: October 19, 2014, 08:37:59 pm »
So I guess the mod is going to be alive again, and I'm torn between build options. My favorite build I've ever done was 33-12 polearm without IF at level 34. I'm highly considering converting to a 36-12 build with 3 shield skill, polearm once again, now that I'll be level 36 after the patch. The thought of placing my armoured ass behind teammates and stabbing over heads to 1-2 hit people with my longspear gives me a gigantic woody.

I'm a huge colossal enormous gigantic hipster my old friendlord so I'm unable to use any build that is considered good or common, does anyone have a suggestion for an equally-gimmicky build that I can be pleased with for a decent duration? I'd really only consider polearm or shield-less (maybe a couple shield skill to put a plank of wood in between me and ranged) 1h, but maybe someone can convince me of something different.

Anyway, what the fuck are YOU guys going to do with this respec and new patch?

Hey guys,

Recently my main PC has bit the dust for the time being, and I'm attempting to play cRPG on my laptop. My main PC cannot boot, either due to a fried motherboard or PSU, so I cannot open a hex editor and withdraw my CD Key in that manner, and when I attempt to view my CD Key via steam, I am met with an everlasting message of "Requesting Key"

I've tried numerous fixes to this apparently common problem, but nothing has worked. I'm wondering if it is possible for Meow, Nessaj, or some other helpful demi-god admin to private message me my CD Key.

If anyone could share insight on how to solve this error on Steam's part, that would be helpful as well. I have tried:

a) Deleting all Steam files on my machine besides apps and the steam .exe and reinstalling Steam
b) Verifying my warband game cache files
c) Deleting only specific files in the Steam folder that seem to help other people
d) Putting my router in DMZ mode while attempting to retrieve my CD key
e) Making sure my laptop is plugged in, turned on, etc etc (all the "lol restart ur pc" things)

I was told by a clan member that you can use a warband CD key on a maximum of 2 machines; there is a small chance that I used it on an older laptop that is now also deceased, but I am not sure. I would think that I would receive some sort of error message instead of simply hanging on "Retrieving Key", but lolsteam.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Strategus General Discussion / Please add bots to NA strat

because right now it's a co-op game without an opponent (keep in mind that about half of the 20 that showed up for AI were EU, 3 had a K:D of less than .2, and 1 didn't spawn in a single time)

Suggestions Corner / Website/Ladder Suggestion: Invite to Clan
« on: March 31, 2014, 03:02:08 am »
Yeah, so I was watching all these poor peasants running around getting wrecked in spawn (mostly by me) by cav, cut down by armoured behemoths, shot to shit by ranged and I thought to myself "boy, I sure am glad that I'm a level 34 neckbeard that doesn't have to deal with that."

Anyway, oftentimes if there are a group of me and my clan on we'll select one peasant that we see playing that evening heavily, and surround and guard him, forming a sort of pseudo-religion around him. Oftentimes, a very new player is so caught up in figuring out what the fuck is going on in the game that he doesn't pay attention to chat and stuff.

I think it would be a handy option to find a new player on the website ladder, and invite him into the clan, with a somewhat large notification appearing when they login to the site. If they accept the invite, they'll be placed on the ladder. In addition, the clan leader should be able to put a personalized message instructing them on basics such as how to apply the banner, how banner-balance works, how to use the clan armoury, et cetera.

I believe Harold is the person in charge of all website business, so if you're around, Harold, could you offer me any feedback? Along with anyone else, of course.

Mercenary Recruitment / Friday 9:30 EST, Frisian Freedom field defense

Please sign up for The Frisian Freedom; don't be discouraged by the current numbers, we will be reinforcing greatly. Gear will be as good as you'll expect to have at this point in Strategus and I imagine that we'll have pretty good leadership with a relatively calm teamspeak devoid of yelling angry nerds. We mute those.

If you kick a lot of ass, we'll not hesitate to pay you in cRPG gold. The amount can be negotiated after the ass-kicking occurs.

Hope to see you guys there!

If I recall weren't you bumping him on purpose quite a bit every round?

Doesn't sound like something an esteemed and respected pillar of the cRPG community (tm) such as Cikel would do.

Strategus General Discussion / The "1/3 rule"
« on: October 11, 2013, 08:22:00 am »
So I heard through the grapevine that wooden walls were destructible, and didn't believe it until I was placed behind a bunch of wooden walls that were shattered and smashed. RIP New Radoghir Castle

I also heard through the grapevine that you're only required 2500 troops to attack any fief in existence. For example, could you could send your nice 2500 man army to attack a castle with 15000 troops or more in it, and the attack would go through?

Any insight?

cRPG Technical problems / Background colour on banners not updating
« on: June 30, 2013, 03:27:54 am »
It seems as though the background colours on clan banners won't update after the latest patch. I know mine won't, and all the heraldic mail that I've seen has a black background.
