A very familiar feeling jumping into this game/mod mutiplayer. Same shit troll community of a dying game, similar skill based combat except with a lot more options and dynamic gameplay, and a whole lotta fun. Attacks are based on keyboard movement instead of mouse (which I guess is also possible on mnb so maybe some people are already used to that), different fighting styles with different moves, combos, strengths/weaknesses, single dual or staff sabers available, and that's just the melee stuff. There's a bunch of other classes that pew pew lazorz and any given game is action packed, shit blowing up, jedis sith force powers, it's chaos and it's awesome.

Seriously though, the community takes as much pride in being oldmy old friend douche cunts as this one, so you should all feel right at home. Sure once every few days you might run into someone that's helpful or nice or at least not actively a horrific monster, but there are some of those weakling types hidden here too I bet.

Also the gameplay just reminds me of crpg so much. And the shit people do together in game, the way they're all tired of this game they've been playing for years but still hang around cause they've built an identity as a "pro" and don't wanna go back to being nothing without it. And plenty of funny shit that goes along with all that.

If you've never heard of this game and this mod, as I hadn't until about a week ago, you might like it if you give it a shot. It's like being a noob in crpg again, except without the level of entry barrier being quite as high just cause there's no grinding or levelling. It might still be tough cause of new gameplay, skills, etc. but at least you're on a statistically even playing field from the jump. And it's just a perfectly made, polished, professional mod with a whole lot of info in their built-in library system to cover all the intricacies and details of the classes and combat and everything else. And that's where this mod shines, like crpg. The nuances of the combat, the possibilities, skill based creativity allowing system that you can get as deep or shallow into as you want.

Oh and despite it being like a 100 years old, there's still an active community with games to be found 24/7 from what I've seen. Some servers more than others and depending on times, but duel and open team combat modes going almost all the time, EU and NA.

Introduction
“Hatashiai” is all about Samurai Kenjutsu combat. It is a 3D FTG game with a novel melee weapon combat system. Our plan is to make it the most serious sword fighting game ever, using Unreal Engine 4.

Features
Literally, the word “Kenjutsu” means the method or technique of sword. But in fact, Kenjutsu is a complicated melee weapon combat system, including the effective guards, flexible footwork and efficient coordination of the whole body. To best capture the essence of Kenjutsu, the following features will be included in our game:

- Cultural & Historical Accuracy
We are making 8 real existing Ryuha (type/shcool of Kenjutsu) in this game. While the fighting styles of these Ryuha can be utterly different, all their skills and moves will be the actual techniques developed and used by the ancient Samurai.

- One-hit kill Fighting System
This game does not contain a life bar or health point. Similar to the Bushido Blade series, with a single hit one can disable or even kill his opponent. On the other hand, precise physics based contact detection of the weapon and the variety of balanced fighting skills (each Ryuha contains at least 8 basic guards, and instead of using pre-defined combos, the player can have multiple free choices of skill connections) will significantly enhance the viability of the fighters, preventing Hatashiai from becoming a boring seckilling game.

The most fundamental state in our system is Kamae. Kamae is the basic stance or guard designed to launch efficient attack or provide effective defense. In Hatashiai, character from each Ryuha has multiple types of Kamae, each for specific use. For example, temporarily we have 10 types of Kamae for Shinkage-Ryu(the one being demonstrated in the demo), but we may want to adjust the number in the future to fit in the capacity of normal video game controllers (e.g. PS4 or XBOX One controller).

From one Kamae the character can:
(1) perform movement
each Kamae has two types of movement (fast and slow) for each direction, to be used under different distances
(2) switch to any other Kamae
from one Kamae the character can freely switch to any other Kamae directly
(3) make attacks
each Kamae has at least four types of attacks (each with the choices of three kinds of footwork as forward, on site, and backward, forming three sub-types of one attack), covering different angles

When an attack ends, the character may:
(1) return immediately to Kamae (the Kamae launching this attack or the Kamae nearest to the ending pose)
(2) connect immediately with other attacks
(3) keep the ending pose as an intermediate state, from which you can move, switch to any Kamae or continue with multiple types of attacks (this intermediate state nearly equals to a Kamae)
Following this scheme, although we don't define specific combo for the character, you can still perform continuous attacks, even endlessly if without a disturbance.

It should be noted that we don't have a so called "defense pose", instead we introduce contact detection for all Kamae and attacks. This means you won't be able to press one button and block most of your opponent's attack anymore. To protect yourself, you will need to make proper moves according to your opponent's attack. The outcome of a sword contact is automatically computed based on an mathematical model, taking into account both the physical status (velocity, pose, contacting position...) of the swords and the reference parameter including the ability and current mental status (we will introduce this in future updates) of the character.

All in all, the sword combat in Hatashiai is a dynamic process. Players must make right decisions to perform right moves at right moments to earn triumph.

That's all for today's update. Please note that the 3D models and animations are still in the very pre-alpha level and will definitely be refined as the project moves forward. In future updates we would like to present a development introduction to further explain our concept, and a real combat demo to help you better capture the tone of the game. Thanks for watching. Looks like maybe support stopped for them, and after some crpg patches they don't work anymore? Just curious if anyone has them working currently so I'll know if it's possible, or to give up hope. I'm using what I believe to be the latest versions of each, the last sounds.txt file posted in the appropriate thread, and the latest Heirloom Models update by Jarold from months back. It could be that it's been so long I just fucked up trying to install them or something, but I'dunno...

Turn-based post-apocalyptic rpg strategy game. Fuck yes. Direct sequel to the 1988 original, which it comes with and is widely considered one of the best games ever made. It's considered as such by nerds, which you are, so you should like it too. Do it.

cRPG Technical problems / Lost character in the twilight zone

A few months (year? i'dunno) ago, there was some kinda something that happened, at least on NA1, where nobody could use their characters, but you could create a new one so everyone was a peasant again for a few hours or however long that lasted.

After things went back to normal, I tried using the character I made during the cataclysm, but I get kicked and and the message that it belongs to someone else. Being fairly certain no one else would be using the name I did, I'm guessing this has something to do with having created it during whatever the problem was, not registering as me at the time.

I'd like to be able to reclaim it now for alt use if it's possible, somehow, to reset the name or whatever might need to be done. I'm hoping it's an easy fix for someone with the powah to do it, and that that someone will see this and be kind enough to help a guy out.

Doozish is the name of this long lost part of myself.

Recently I've been communicating via Twitter with self-identified members of the Islamic State, formerly ISIS, more formerly a lot of things including Al-Qaeda. There's a lot about them in the news lately, so if you're not familiar, you could be with a quick search. During this whole Gaza thing, and now Iraq, I've been looking up those terms (Gaza/Iraq) on Twitter and finding out what I could about the situations there, and eventually that included coming into contact with these individuals, who I was very interested to hear speak for themselves about themselves, rather than the propaganda we are subjected to in "the West".

I'm sure it wouldn't be impossible to figure out based on context clues (or my having missed something here or there) if you're crazy and obsessed enough to need to know, but whatever.

General Discussion / Hide red error messages?

I remember seeing a post about this some time ago, just can't remember where, and can't find it by searching now. Anybody know how, or have a link to the post in question? I'm referring to the red error messages when crpg is loading, I think maybe only if you're using final_boss heirloom models, but they don't actually mean anything. Just annoying, and I loved not having them appear.

WSE2 Beta / Compatible with other mods?

Namely the huge performance benefits I get with WSE2. Is there any way to make it work with other Warband mods? I know nothing about what exactly WSE2 even is, only that it has helped my fps and allowed for the highest graphical settings possible while doing so, and my hope is being able to make it work with singleplayer mods with huge battle sizes, seeing as how without it the optimization of the game is horrible (these are words I've heard being used).

So is it as simple as moving a few files here or there, renaming a couple of lines of text, things along those lines? Or would it have to be fully customized to the specific mod and all that? What about only the performance optimizations?
