Title: AC Origins
Post by: Xant on October 28, 2017, 06:20:20 am
Seeing some good reviews for it on Metacritic, unusually so for an AC series.

Anyone played it?

They are usually pretty fun games to mess around with  on console. Probably pick it up when it drops down in price. I liked the pirate AC.

Some are saying it's the best AC since Black Flag. Loved the shit out of Black Flag. So refreshing and new. Looks cool I guess. Time period is interesting too.

It has the Ubisoft Open world boringness.
It's decent. Nothing more. Certainly not as fresh as black flag was... Pirate it if you're poor.

I tend to get these games and play them just a few years after they are released. I enjoyed black flag. How many have they released since that one?

Iirc they did a civil war one?

Or you can buy it when it's on sail.

"Assassin's Creed Rogue[edit]
Main article: Assassin's Creed Rogue
The plot follows Knight of Templar, Shay Patrick Cormac, and is set during the Seven Years' War across various locations in North America.[11] It is meant to "fill the gaps" of the story between III and Black Flag and has "a crucial link to the Kenway saga", as well as connecting to Unity.[12] Haytham Kenway from III and Adewalé from Black Flag make appearances.[13]

By March 2014, a game titled or code-named "Comet", was revealed to be in development, for release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.[14] By the end of the month, additional reports indicated that "Comet" would be set around 1758 in New York, as well as feature sailing on the Atlantic Ocean. The game would be a direct sequel to Black Flag, and would be the first to feature a Templar as the main protagonist, named Shay. In May 2014, Guillemot stated that Assassin's Creed games would continue releasing on the last generation PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 "for the foreseeable future", despite the franchise moving to the current generation PlayStation 4 and Xbox One with Assassin's Creed Unity.[15] On August 5, Ubisoft officially announced the game as Assassin's Creed Rogue. It was released in North America on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 11, 2014[11] and in Europe and Australasia on November 13, 2014.[16] It was released on Windows in March 2015.[17]

Assassin's Creed Unity[edit]
Main article: Assassin's Creed Unity
The story is set in Paris on the eve of the French Revolution and follows Arno Dorian and his fellow assassins.[18]

On March 19, 2014, images leaked for the next game, titled or code-named Unity, showing a new assassin in Paris.[14] On March 21, Ubisoft confirmed the game's existence, having been in development for more than three years, by releasing pre-alpha game footage.[19] The game features up to four player co-op, a first for the series.[20] It was released in North America on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows on November 11, 2014 and in Europe and Australasia on November 13, 2014.[16]

Assassin's Creed Syndicate[edit]
Main article: Assassin's Creed Syndicate
The plot is set in Victorian era London and follows twin assassins Jacob and Evie Frye as they navigate the corridors of organized crime, and take back the city from Templar control.

In December 2014, images and information leaked for a new Assassin's Creed game, titled or code-named Victory, which was later confirmed by Ubisoft.[21] In May 2015, Kotaku leaked that Victory had been renamed Syndicate.[22] On May 12, 2015, the game was officially announced by Ubisoft.[23] The PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One version of the game was released on October 23, 2015, while the Microsoft Windows version was released on November 19, 2015.[24]

Assassin's Creed Origins[edit]
Main article: Assassin's Creed Origins
The story is set in Ptolemaic Egypt and follows a Medjay named Bayek, whose fight to protect his people, leads him to create the Secret Order the Assassins, with the game exploring the origin of their conflict with the Knights of Templar, serving as a prequel to the entire series. The details of the present day story-line remain unrevealed."

is it me or the graphics are far better than what showed in previous trailer? egypt looks beautiful, was a bit skeptical at first, i still kind of miss renaissance italy and revolutionary france, but it looks great. and like black flag it doesn't have some shit filter to the colours (grey in the first, red in the second, blue in the unity etc), they look gorgeous

It looks great, yeah, but I like it even more with a ReShade like this one (https://www.nexusmods.com/assassinscreedorigins/mods/1). The game is really good, but it still has minifreezes / microstuttering, especially when you are moving.

The atmosphere is great, especially in the tombs. It also runs REALLY well for how it looks.

Sadly, it's An Ubisoft Open World Game. As in, it's boring as fuck.

I enjoy open world games, but this has always made me dislike Ubisoft games. In a game like Skyrim, you'll get side quests with stories that are tailored to the area and tell a story about it. With Ubisoft you get an assortment of collectibles, some kind of territory control, a tower, and one other thing depending on the game. That's then copy pasted until the map is full up. The scenery can be interesting, but the content in it is ultimately generic, following the same formula. That always made their games to me boring, even if the gameplay loop is fun. It's just tedious, it feels like a checklist, not a world to explore. I could not do it, but just doing the main story line never feels worth it and then it becomes more of a linear single player game than an open world.

Can hold my attention for about an hour before I'm tired of playing, reached lvl 28 but can't really tell how far into the story I am in terms of completion.

it does get boring but the way they built egypt really shocks me; one thing people praised it's the story, it doesn't seem anything that special to me tho
