Title: Throwing hammers
Post by: vipere on August 22, 2014, 12:02:38 am
Aren't throwing hammers too weak ?

I never see someone using it and it have 6 weight, weak melee stats and crap missile speed.

I've been thinking the same thing. It probably needs like +4-5 blunt to be honest. The lack of bonus against shield and other reasons you listed above are still good deterrents for high damage.

What about knockdown ?

It would give an attractive bonus and maybe make players use it instead of HTA or Jarids

I think it was attempted and didn't work properly. That would be an interesting gimmick for it.

It wouldn't really allow a follow up shot, which is why no one cares if they have knockdown on throw.

Same thing with knockdown on cav weapons, it's not useful.

I've been using them lately and they aren't very good.  HTA are better, all around.

I know these are supposed to be sluggish by nature, but since they are weak and heavy to carry, could you make them fly a little bit faster please?

The only thing it needs is a weight on par with throwing axes. They simply slow you down waaaay to much

Yep, throwing hammers are pretty sucky.

Even after the greater damage bonus from heirlooming to +3 (4b >> 4c), they do one or two points of damage after armor vs 55-70 armor when compared to HTA.

Before heirlooming, they do about the same damage vs 55 armor, but the hammer has worse melee/projectile speed/throwing speed/weight, no bonus vs shields (even if HTA didn't have bonus vs shields, it would still do more vs shields).

And obviously, they perform worse vs squishier targets (<~45 armor?).

I should have never loomed a set,

Pros:
+ I can be like Mario in Mario Bros!
+ Knockdown on Melee

Cons:
- Slow as hell, like throwing sludge
- Heavy as Hell, slower movement speed with no added damage bonus
- Horses will soak up 5 or 6 before going down.
- Terrible Damage
- No Knockdown on thrown hits
- No Bonus against Shields

If only you could use the pierce side on the hammer for piercing melee or even pierce throws. This would never happen but it would be kind of cool.

No idea how you could fix this item though, it should at least be on par with HTA.

+5 dmg would be fine.

Blunt is identical to pierce, except high damage pierce is a little stronger while low damage blunt is a little stronger. 44b is similar to 42p, so it's not grossly outdamaging anything else.

I don't think the melee knocks down.

I don't think the melee knocks down.

Really? I thought it did... Add 1 more - if it doesn't.
