Title: Dungeon Keeper successor - War for the Overworld
Post by: Tyr_ on December 26, 2012, 09:30:20 pm
For everyone who misses DKI/DKII and wants it published!
Supported by the former DK developer team - moreover the current developers are trying to get Richard Riding (Mentor in DK) as speaker.

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/subterraneangames/war-for-the-overworld

Since they reached their first goal of 150.000 Pounds the game is will be released at  the 30th of August 2013!

They managed to get another 75.000, so there will be Richard Ridings as Mentor again!

Btw, here is the link to the official site

O hells yes. Dungeon Keeper was one of my fav games as a kid. Up there with the first AoE. Definitely will support anything even remotely related/similar.

It would be very awesome if they manage to make it an actual dungeon keeper III, and it will get even better if they can pay Richard Riding so the game will have the same "story teller" as the previous.
Anyway, you get a digital version of the game for 10 pounds and for 15 an additional access to the beta, not much money if youre looking to buy the game anyway if it gets released, actually it saves you some since most of the new games get released with 40€ and more to pay for them (at least its like this in germany)

6 days to go and another 8000 pounds needed, would love to play this at 30.8.2013!

In case you wanted to say I should buy the new game and not tipiak (french slang for pirate) it, I was referring to DK1, which I own.

They can't call it Dungeon Keeper 3 for the same reason Chris Roberts can't use Wing Commander name. Both IPs (intellectual property) are in hands of EA, and neither Chris Roberts or Dungeon Keeper creator, Peter Molyneux, can't use those IPs despite the fact they made those games.

What i wanted to say is that i hope the game becomes like Dungeon Keeper, of course they cant use the same name, but i hope they stick to the gameplay & atmosphere of dungeon keeper

Right, the demo is not really a demo but just a showcase. Seems they got the basics right, digging out rooms and possessing minions, can't wait to see where this leads :)

The beta of "War for the overworld" is out  (damn i thought t was the final version )

“War for the Overworld is currently in a period that we call the “Bedrock Beta” which is exactly as it sounds: the bedrock of the game. We will constantly update the Bedrock Beta with new features, mechanics, content (and bug fixes) until it eventually evolves into the final game!"

Has anyone tried it yet? Is it a worthy successor of Dungeon keeper?

KEEEEEPA YOUR MINIONS ARE HUNGRY (or something like that)
Dungeon keeper: best pc game ever (after crpg)

Yep you can buy it on steam too. I've not bought it yet only because the currently available choice of minions and enemies isn't that much yet so I'd rather wait until they've finished adding most or all of the major content before I even play it. But my friend had played it and he agreed with everything I've read and seen it about so far in that it's very close to the DK games and seems to be going the route of combing the best parts about DK1 and 2, though we will see once it's finished I guess.

I decided to grab DK2 off GoG, and play though it again in anticipation of this. It's every bit as good as I remember. I was playing at around 2:00 AM, and the narrator kept insisting that I should go to sleep ("you know that low, broad, downy-soft item of furniture in the next room? It has the power to cure fatigue and restore vitality").
