I got something on Google translate. It probably tells you to remove the plastic cap the arrow is pointing at before use so you don't suffocate.

anyone else catch the irony of a supposedly german gas mask with hebrew instructions?
Yes, I know from whence I came! Discontented as a flame, Upon myself I live and glow. All I grasp like lightning flashes, All I leave behind is ashes
Flame I am - that much I know!

The gas mask is a german M65 Drager, The 40mm Filter is of Israeli origins that the seller added to at least add some functionality to the mask. Im trying to dig up more more info on the filter (seems impossible with no markings). Mainly want to make sure if its expired or not and whether its safe to use.

Only one way to be sure that it works...

Go smoke your toolshed outback til you can barely see, put on the mask and walk in the cloud of smoke and see if your eyes, nose, respiratory system are irritated or bothered...

Better yet, put the gas mask on and then spray yourself in the face with bear mace. (bear mace is milder than self defense/law enforcement mace).
Record yourself doing this and put it on youtube of course, I want to see reaction when the mask only partially works :D

First of all you put your hand onto the filter and breathe in. If you wear it properly, no air should leak into your mask.

In the military, for testing the filter, we used to go into a small, closed room and then set some pellet on fire, which gave away some milder form of tear gas.
I bet if you just google a bit, you´ll find a way how to test your filter savely

btw playing football with full gear and gasmasks is really shitty

The man probelm is safety, I have civilian 3M half mask which I use for real probelms, that mask/filters can filter pretty much all the important stuff, and anything it cant filter is stuff that requires full MOPP gear, detection equipment and decon kit, etc. While it would be nice if the filters work its not a priority. The probelm is whats in the filter, filters made up to 1970 containd abestos, and even beyond 1970, Many countries packed their filters with some form of dangerous chemicals. While most of it these days is activated charcoal, it still doesnt hurt to be safe. I have a infogrpahic (and a few internet links) somewhere containing this information but it is buried beneath Schematics for homemade SMGs, suppressors, and DIY explosives.

my ultimate plan is to wear all 5 of my surplus gas masks at one time for halloween costume
