I wont get to details, but today at the university a dude insulted me, and then came to my face, and I headbutted him, and I broke his nose..

thing is that I now regret it, even though it was his fault..

Should I be the bigger man and apologize to him, or do nothing??

My stature was always big compared to other kids of my age.

When I was in junior high, I got in a fight with a kid and I ended up sending him to the hospital because I broke his ankle , even though his father could easily sue my family, he didnt, instead he found me and he started a convertation with me, we discussed for a lot of things but I will never forget some words that he told me " Big men like you, should not harm the weak, but help them" and since then I keep this though to my mind.

So I think the guilt I feel is because I let down myself and not because I headbutted that guy..

Apologizing to him, for having him hurt.

If you would have been a minor, you needed to do it with his parents present perhaps also explaining why you did it.
While then the parents may have learned something new about their own child, they also may see from it to take further actions like requesting you to be removed from that university.

As you are, if i remember correctly, over 25(?), dragging you to court could become the bigger issue. If only for money or even to bust your ass.

These things can end very badly and a permanent record is somwthing you may want to avoid. The older you get, the less the courts would see your age as and exuse for anything. Having something in your register, could fuck things up for you in the future even more. Dont take this lightly. It is not "only" a broken nose what could come out of this.

banos , thet father quote reminds me a stephen King book , " Blaze " , you should read it , i cried at the end becuz he was a good dude .
but being a good dude don't mean that you have not to brake nose to others ....it happens , he made you mad , that's the consequence.
the next time he will think 2 times before insulting someone , people need to learn humilty first.
