Sadly I think you guys are right, it really does not fit the game too well.  But I would still like to see both the swords in the game.  Cheers and lock topic.

Since I one of those people that knows nothing about modding, I will put out my suggestions and see if anyone else likes it and knows how to do it.

I would love to see a medieval version of the Musketeers running around Crpg.  Yes, I know the period is not right, but really its a game and how cool would it be to see these guys running around:

To that end we would need a blue had with a feather and the blue tabard of the the musketeers.
Also we would need a Rapier.

While I can already hear the screams of "In real life a Rapier would break blocking and axe a 2 hand sword ets..."
I got this complaint covered we could go with a rapier like weapon the Colichemarde sword,
Quote
Its long suit was its uniquely shaped blade that was extra wide at the forte then stepped down or narrowed for the rest of its length before ending in a wicked point. The advantage of this configuration was it allowed the sword to be used to parry or oppose even the heaviest weapons without breaking, yet remain light and supple enough to take full advantage of its lightning quick point.

What do you guys think?

Long espada. Without a shield, length means everything- if you're agility based. Side sword if you're going to be a tank.

Kalam, thanks for the answer, I have seen you play and I know that you are very good.  I am going for a 15/21 build with medium armour.  I was thinking of going shieldless during none peek hours with a few players on and with shield when there is a full 120 server. What would you suggest?

Yo.

I think it'd be nice to have a few gear loadout presets, so we can more easily switch from high-end frontline gear to low-cost sneaky ninja gear.

I like it, I am usually one of the last people to load up a new map so I miss a round here and there switching around equipment.  This would prevent that.

No idea.  I miss the duel servers, don't even really care if we get xp or gold at all on them.  But since I have no idea how to fix the problem of it not loading your gear we may just turn it into a smaller battle server (say 30 or 64 man).

That would be very unfortunate, I would be very very sorry to see it go

EDIT

It was a great place to try out different weapons against a wide variety of opponents.

I am thinking of becoming a swashbuckler myself.  I am debating which sword to get:

Long Espada Eslavona   8026
weight 1.25
requirement 10
spd rtng 98
weapon length 103  <-- Longer reach
swing damage 29, cut
thrust damage 28 pierce

or

Side Sword   8922
weight 1.3
requirement 8
spd rtng 101  <--Faster speed
weapon length 95
swing damage 32, cut  <--Better cut
thrust damage 26 pierce

Which one would you recommend and why?

I was just wondering when the Duel server will be up again and how will Dueling will work after the patch?  If I may, I would suggest that no upkeep be put on dueling servers since otherwise it will be hard to attract people.  Dueling is such an effective training too it would be shame to lose it or have people avoid it due to low xp and gold payout and upkeep penalties.

Suggestions Corner / Re: Refunding heirlooms (possible gold sink)
« on: January 09, 2011, 07:55:30 am »
I heirloomed gothic platemail with bevor 3 times on a pure strength character before the patch was ever announced. Post-Patch, it's VERY difficult to maintain.

I am in a similar boat, I have heirloomed Black Armour before the patch.  I no longer see it as a viable item to have.   I think refunding heirlooms is a great idea as some of the equipment has changed in stats during the patch in price, damage and speed.  There are many players who are stuck with items they would have never bought with the current stats.  That is a shame if you consider how much peasant time these players put in grinding out retirement after retirement.

How about a reset for heirloomed items?  There have been many changes to equipment stats in price, damage and speed.  Some of the items I heirloomed are now useless for me because of unforseen changes to their stats.  Can we re-roll our equipment.  Thanks for the consideration.

In addition, some of my double heirloomed items lost speed. They gained damage, but when I heirloomed the items it was for the speed, not damage.

Blackstone, that is one of the things I was thinking about, thanks for expressing it in such a clear way.  For example, for one of my alts I heirloomed a Grosse Messer, which is a short sword but what made it worth using was the speed of 101, before the patch.  A balance Grosee was even faster with a speed of 104.  However after the patch the Messer was nerfed to speed 99, and the first heirloom after the patch gives no speed bonus.  The Messer I have is not the type of sword I wanted in the beginning of the whole process, basically it became a wasted heirloom.

Given that items have been changed in price, damage and speed we should be able to re-heirloom our items as some of the equipment we bought and heirloomed we  would have never bought and never heirloomed have we known about the change in stats.

I am still talking about the base price, if I knew how expensive sword of tears was going to be I would have not heirloomed it.  And waaaayyy back before the patch, if I knew that upkeep costs would be applied to items in the future I would have never heirloomed Black armour.

Hey, I am probably like many of you, I have heirloomed all sorts of stuff before the patch, that is no longer usable because its too expensive.  I would love it, if like our skills their would be a reset letting you re-spend your heirlooms.  Let me know what you guys think?

General Discussion / Re: anyone else hates archery?
« on: January 08, 2011, 09:22:09 pm »
You forget one main point:
As thrower you have to pay upkeep for equipment worth 30k, just for 16 shots. Archer pays what? 10k for his weapons at most. So, throwers have to be 3times as effective as archers. Nerf archers more.

Lol, can archer's be nerfed any more?   :D

What else can you do to them, make them shoot blind, bent over backwards, using bows bought at Walmart, on 75% off sale with cat whiskers for bow strings?

Seriously, in order to know how effective archery is instead of relying on guesses and conjecture we should ask one of the server admins to post the stats for kills and deaths for archery and compare it to the stats before the patch.  Gorath posted stats from one of the NA servers once, we should ask him to do it again.  If the deaths caused by archery have fallen by a severe precentage then you know archery has been nerfed too much.  If the deaths caused by archery have fallen by just a bit then you know archery is still okay.  Let's see some evidence before we start crying for archery or against it.
