sandersson realized that socializing in real life is far superior to doing anything on the internet. You cant have a party with your internet friends. He also just graduated from school apparently and probably realizes he needs a phd if he wants to be gainfully employed

what a fucking chad

General Discussion / About time for a map rotation
« on: July 07, 2018, 11:35:29 pm »
cRPG is doing well lately with 20-30 people on each night pretty consistently and I think everyone would appreciate if we changed up the rotation and brought back some old classic maps.

I don't remember their names but some of my favorite memories of the mod are playing on that giant bridge with the gap in the desert or the trade caravan ambushed by the river.

Just a thought!

The Chamber of Tears / Re: 2015 and still people are autoblocking
« on: August 30, 2015, 06:10:18 pm »
As I understand it, the autoblock detection thing only bans after certain intervals, so a player could be using autoblock and not be banned for an hour, day, week?, etc.

And there ARE autoblockers out there still. I've seen at least two in the past month. However they usually don't seem to be a threat considering they generally just block and don't do much attacking.

Game Balance Discussion / Re: Huscarl Shield just really shitty?
« on: August 26, 2015, 06:16:17 pm »
Width is really important, both for ranged protection and not taking hits around the side of the shield. Huscarl's shield is definitely not weak, have you tried them both or are you just looking at stats?

Round shield have huge advantage over other, better protection both for melee and against ranged. The size of the heather to protect the foot is quite useless as it is very difficult for ranged to shoot the feet with almost any shield

Yes I've used both shields, and as far as I know (and have tested), the width of a shield has no effect on melee combat, only on incoming projectiles. So the huscarl's additional width extends the degree of protection from incoming projectiles, but in melee, it is greatly outclassed by other shields.

Game Balance Discussion / Huscarl Shield just really shitty?

(Not shown, the Huscarl is 2 slots compared to the 1 slot of the Heavy Heater)

Does its larger width somehow make up for its otherwise terrible stats? Seems like there is no reason to use this shield over the heavy heater, or even the heavy Norman shields. If there is something I'm missing let me know.

I've played the past three gens as 1h/shield and it is far too easy to sidestep and swing at an oncoming lancer cav -- which deals a lot of damage thanks to the ridiculous speed bonus, enough that you can take these horses out in one hit if they're unarmored. Lower mobility horses (armored ones) just don't have the maneuverability to dodge the sidestep, and higher mobility horses (unarmored) are so ridiculously vulnerable to archers that they're hardly a threat. And even if the horseman is smart enough to predict a sidestep, his attack is useless just by downblocking.

It's sad that what should be the high damage, high speed knights of the battlefield are so gimpy and useless! I'd like to see horses made much stronger.
