In addition to that, I really want them to improve the AI enough that they don't have to rely on 'cheating'. It's kinda bullshit when enemies can just swing through each other with no repercussions. AI should naturally try to move to within the optimal range for the weapon they're using instead of hugging you. This would also hopefully prevent conga lines.

I don't know of anybody that wants any game to be a bad game. Wouldn't people want games to be good?

Oh sweet, don't know how I missed it. This seems to be the only real way to demo a multiplayer-only game nowadays aside from giving people a cut-down version with probably empty servers.

The way I look at it, it can't be a bad thing that people are developing games in this genre. Still just as excited for M&B2 as ever.

Animation bugs, I've had times where an enemy with wind up a left to right swing but the animation bugs and instantly goes to a right to left swing.

Graphics are good but fighting style is so clumpy.
I wouldn't say the combat is clunky (Or did you really mean clumpy?). It's more that some of the attacks seem a bit... odd, or maybe it's just that many swings suffer the exact inverse problem Warband has. In warband the beginning and end of your swings usually deal less damage and have a better chance of glancing, but it seems in Chiv every single attack frame is dealing about the same amount of damage as the apex of the attack. I can be hugging a guy's face and stab it perfectly fine with a spear, and sometimes at the very end of a thrust just as my guy is pulling the weapon back I will land a hit on someone. It just seems the game is based a whole lot less on momentum in all aspects. It doesn't make the combat bad at all, it just makes it slightly awkward when you get struck by the very last part of a swing when it shouldn't be doing much damage and it fucks you up anyways.

The swings and combat in general are a lot slower than in Warband, but it's also a bit more methodical and less spammy.

Also, archers can move around at just about full speed with a bow drawn from what I can tell, annoying bastards.

EDIT: Also, it's a little difficult to tell how much range your attacks have, it's a matter of learning each weapon I suppose.

At first I was skeptical about this game, namely how the combat works. Then after playing it I can say, while it's much different from M&B, it's still awesome. If you're still not sure wait for a free weekend and try it out then, there's no demo unfortunately.

Oh, just saw a video that says it's Unreal 3. Carry on.

Does this game use Source? If so, it should be a simple matter of editing a text file to get both actions on the same button, or a console command. At least that's how it was in Half-Life 2 and such.

You will learn everything you will need to know from M&B2 anyways.

General Discussion / Re: Ping issues on NA?

I just got finished GTXting Siege because I was getting ~80 ping when I started, then it went up to ~120. I usually get below ~40

Perhaps it's just a bad day to play.

The change only takes effect after you submit it, and even then you should double check it every now and then to make sure it didn't glitch and reset your changes.

Beginner's Help and Guides / Re: What's your favorite shield?
« on: October 07, 2012, 09:44:47 pm »
I don't play a primarily shield-based build, but I figured I'd throw my thoughts in anyhow.

I like the style of most of the kite shields, most are fairly large and display heraldry pretty well, unlike the heater shields (Except maybe the small heater shields). Round shields in general are also pretty good, basic but effective. Board shields make good tower shields that would be awesome in a shield wall but I don't see many people using them anymore, and I don't particularly blame them when you have things like the huscarl shield available.
