Don't have to watch the whole clip (if you can hook your pc/laptop to a big screen plasma be sure to watch the "original" 1440p quality) but atleast check the cars @ 6:20, amazing simply amazing, the neon culture of Japan is so fascinating to me.

ofc they are, I'm quite intrigued by island nations. Brits, Taiwanese people, Madagascar dudes (ok not really) but yes there is something original coming out from that isolation that the island brings.

And when it is a relatively tiny set of islands for a very big population, things are absolutely bound to go wrong. Add on top of that the state of being surrounded by the vast ocean and also neverending fear of devastating earthquakes. There you go, the weirdness partly explained I guess. Or is it?

Why do you say things went wrong?

Also early Japanese influences ( culture, religin, education, governing the state..) came directly from China and Korea so no they aren't surounded by vast oceans and completely cut off, they decided to be cut off untill the 18./19. century for reasons neither you or I can say are right or wrong.

I also believe in the future North Korea will be the craziest country once it opens up and 100+ years of modern civilisation hits in a day, we'll see fashion, music and every other aspect of urban life go absolutely wild, things happening in Japan will be nothing compared to that  :mrgreen:

Oh well yes, but you have freaks in every country of the world, what I appreciate about them is the honesty. Yes you have freaks of all sorts but they are open about it and admit their obsessions/fetishes more than western people do.

The US is not on an island. maybee that is why they are not funny. But Their technologie looks much more useable.
Actually that is some toy I want to have. (My job includes loading and unloading trucks. would be nice to have one of these around when the forklift can't reach.)

lol those neon lambos are sweet... I would drive one of those and bump Justice and Fatboy slim if I had the money... definitely better than the motorcycles on that video lol, those are some ugly motorcycles... not ugly in a good abnoxious sort of way like the neon lambos  :lol:

Yeah Japan is great. I was fortunate enough to do student exchange in high school and went to Fukuoka. Was great fun, I wondered into a Yakuza bar in my school uniform and a guy covered in tats gave me a beer and started practising English on me. I found out it was a Yakuza bar a month later when he was on the news :D

I hate modern Japanese culture, past was pretty good with all the Samurai. I'm like 15% Japanese too, so I can't say I hate it a ton but I still don't like it.

Some parts of modern Japanese culture are quite captivating and interesting, some parts ofc are awfull but in general the whole culture stands on a whole another set of values and the way of thinking is quite different to European culture where I belong to. It's not that I'd like to be Japanese, I appreciate the aspects I consider good and valuable, same with my culture. For example the religion thing, never got into Christianity and basically despise it, but some budist and shinto believes when it comes to religion I find more reasonable, the whole whorshiping the nature, karma etc... same with arts, my culture in perticular (my coutry's) does not appeal to me, the music, painitngs etc. I find traditional japanese culture and the stories behind it way more deep and beaufitul all around so that's why I chose to get Japanese style tattoos, nothing to do with jakuza all to do with art. I'm just happy I was lucky enough to stumble upon this culture and this way of living and thinking, mind you I'm interested in whole array of different cultures and views.

Yea, Alucard is probably the first real series I watched whenever I happen to find it somewhere.

I have fond memories about Akira and Ghost in a shell but it must be decades ago that I watched those movies.

honestly, i cant stand to watch it when all the voices are either feminine men, or hypersexualized female squeals and moans in japanese.  Not only do i not understand the emotion being spoken in the voice actor because its in a foreign language, one of which is not even a small bit similar to germanic languages.  But secondly, i hate having to stare at the bottom of the fucking screen constantly to read whats going on.

Well to each his own, I understand it especially germans they dub all movies and TV shows, you only hear german on TV so I guess it comes natural to them. I just don't care for the language and find it extremely sonically unpleasing, only my personal preference nothing more.

I also watched some deeply story driven anime dubbed in english and it was just fine, I just prefere japanese, some phrases, emotions etc. can't be translated properly imo so that's my preference.

Well I was waiting for OVAs for 7 years that's how long they were comming out in unregular intervals.

They did get a bit wild at the end and over the top but srill liked it and must say some of the best animation and music I've ever watched, the production on that thing was crazy.

A mysterious doll possessed by the spirit of a child has captured the curiosity of people across Japan for decades. The legendary Okiku doll, named after the girl who long ago used to play with it, is a 40-centimeter (16-in) tall kimono-clad figure with beady black eyes -- and hair that grows.

The Okiku doll has resided at the Mannenji temple in the town of Iwamizawa (Hokkaido prefecture) since 1938. According to the temple, the traditional doll initially had short cropped hair, but over time it has grown to about 25 centimeters (10 in) long, down to the doll's knees. Although the hair is periodically trimmed, it reportedly keeps growing back.

It is said that the doll was originally purchased in 1918 by a 17-year-old boy named Eikichi Suzuki while visiting Sapporo for a marine exhibition. He bought the doll on Tanuki-koji -- Sapporo's famous shopping street -- as a souvenir for his 2-year-old sister, Okiku. The young girl loved the doll and played with it every day, but the following year, she died suddenly of a cold. The family placed the doll in the household altar and prayed to it every day in memory of Okiku.

Some time later, they noticed the hair had started to grow. This was seen as a sign that the girl's restless spirit had taken refuge in the doll.

In 1938, the Suzuki family moved to Sakhalin, and they placed the doll in the care of Mannenji temple, where it has remained ever since.

Nobody has ever been able to fully explain why the doll's hair continues to grow. However, one scientific examination of the doll supposedly concluded that the hair is indeed that of a young child.

Today in my home town of Zagreb a Japanese choir from Kobe universiy sung an aria from a famous Croatian opet from 19th century. They are singing in Croatian, guess they are crotaku   :lol:

This is the place they sung it at, it's called an octogon, quite nice and acustic, usually there are street musicians singing there.

I bought donuts for my co-workers from the first place I found on yelp in Kona, HI... a place called Holy Donuts
Turns out they were giant donuts like roughly a pound in weight... cost was like 7$ each. like double or triple the normal size of american donuts.

So yeah were already doing that :3 I'm sure they have at least 200% the allotted daily intake of saturated fats and sugar... Unfortunately I didn't try one, just bought them for co-workers. They looked good. but If you ate one every day for a year you would probably gain like 30-45 lbs. XD
