Title: Best bow?
Post by: Sachaztan on March 06, 2012, 01:55:31 am
I'm going archer for my first generation, so which bow do you consider to be the best one?

A friend of mine says the longbow is just too slow, is this true? Is the yumi any good, being the most powerful bow that only takes 1 slot?

I'm going for a build with minimum strenght/pd required for my bow and the rest in agility/athletics/weaponmaster.

Longbow if you are used to placing shots with care and want to shoot targets that you are fully aware of.

Rus Bow for not-so-extreme more balanced Longbow. Good for anti-horse operations and taking out heavy targets.

Horn Bow for best bow overall (the most balanced, there is no "best bow" everything has a purpose), very good for horseback or as a ground archer. If this is your first gen, us this bow.

Any other bow is for very specialist purposes or thematic use.

I suggest a 21/18 build at level 30. This gives 7PD, 6Wm, 6ATHL, and enough left over points to put into IF or PS, your call. Alternatively if you feel you have a steady hand, going 18/21 might be better. Try a STF character with an Alt just to test things out first.

Thanks for the reply.

So the lower projectile speed of the yumi is that detrimental?

The Yumi is awkward in that it is not as hard hitting as the Rus but shoots slower then the Horn Bow. I highly recommend trying it out, but it is not "popular" due to sporting subtle differences.

I love tatar for precision (and arrow spamm but shhhhh don't tell that!)

starts with horn then buy ALL the bow and try them with ALL arrow, you'll be ruined but for you second generation you'll know what you want!
