Faction Halls / The White Company (_WCo) - NA Strat Faction

The White Company

After the fall of the Eastern Tsardom, the White Company rose from her ashes.  The White Company is a mercenary Company of Adventure (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_Company) who have no cause but their own.  This bloodthirsty band of mercenaries takes no quarter and expects none in return.  They seek only to gain wealth and fame through the slaughter of their enemies.

The splintered remnants of the Tsardom gathered their strength and waited patiently for the perfect time to strike.  They reorganized themselves into a leaner fighting force more adaptable to the conditions on the field of battle.  The company split into lances of three men: a man at arms, a squire, and a page.  The lances themselves were organized into contingents, each of which was commanded by a corporal.  True to their mercenary nature, these corporals were often 3rd party mercenaries themselves.  As a result, the corporals had no regard whatsoever for their men and had no hesitation to march them to their deaths if the situation commanded it.  They ensured that the Company fought to the last man.

The leader of the White Company shall be democratically elected.  The leader will be reaffirmed or dethroned by a monthly vote.  Any leader wishing to dispute the validity of election or merit of the affirmed may challenge them to an honor duel to the death.  Let the true leader then emerge....bathed in the blood of the vanquished.

If you have business for the White Company, contact Panderson or Nasturtium on the forums.  You can also visit our teamspeak at ts51.gameservers.com:9116.

Closed Requests / Robert Namo

Who unbanned robert Namo?  I have not seen a post here.  He was banned for repeated intentional FF.  Somehow, I see him on the server today.

cRPG Technical problems / Game Crashes -- randomly and not at start
« on: February 15, 2011, 06:05:42 am »
All,

I have trouble with the game crashing infrequently.  Sometimes it doesn't happen in a night.  Sometimes it happens 3-4 times in an hour.

I did not want to necro an old thread, but here is a thread of similar issues:

http://forum.c-rpg.net/index.php/topic,233.msg2916.html#msg2916

My specs are:

WinXP 64bit
Radeon 5850
Athlon 965 Black Ed OC'ed stably and temperature monitored (I have also tried resetting to default clock settings with no change)
8 Gb RAM
Fatty Heatsink (my system does not overheat)

I run spybot, peerblock, zonealarm in the background along with clamscan antivirus.  I have also tried turning all these off and still no change.  I do run the game through steam so I can't close that.

I run in full screen mode, and alt-tabbing does not seem to affect it.  Does anyone have any idea what it might be?

Edit:  This happened after one of the hotfixes after the big patch.  I did not originally have the problem.

Also, my game lags at the starts of rounds although I have ~30 ping.  It may be related.

Suggestions Corner / Suggestion: Deathmatch Mode
« on: January 11, 2011, 04:39:11 am »
The way upkeep works, it no longer matters how many times you die, so let me lay out my idea for Deathmatch.  This should liven it up a bit with the monotony of playing the same gametypes.

1.  It's a brawl.  Like any other deathmatch, anything goes.  I don't think I have to explain that point.

2.  At the end of the round, multipliers are assigned based on your ranking on the scoreboard.  On a 10 person server, I recommend the following:

The top person will always get x5 automatically.

Second place gets x4.

3-5 get x3.

6-7 get x2.

8-10 get x1.

3.  Your multiplier resets at the end of each round based on your rank.  If possible, this would specifically be your kills each round, but if that is not possible, your overall kill total for the map would work as well.

This can easily be scaled for larger server pops.  However, I do think that only the top person, or maybe 1 and 2 should get x5.  This is also an excellent way to avoid rewarding leechers.  If you just run naked with fists into a melee, you will not kill anyone and get x1.

As I understand it (and after talking to Braeden) game coding allows for other game types like deathmatch, capture the flag, and king of the hill.  I think this would be a great idea.

Edit:  These numbers can also be tweaked.  It may be a bit generous to give the vast majority of the server +2 or better, but I did not want to be elitist and make the lower half of the server get +1 just because I am usually towards the top of the boards.

General Discussion / Issues with the Upkeep System
« on: January 06, 2011, 05:33:23 am »
This is not a whine because I can no longer use my heavy cata and churburg cuirass.  There are several mad-style frustrating issues that make me want to go play one of the other games I bought on steam during Christmas.

1.  The game often crashes after the patch or kicks me -  If this happens during a round, it automatically counts as a loss.  You lose your multiplier and have a chance to take damage to your equip.

This occurs regardless of how well my team was doing.  This has happened several times to me when my team was guaranteed to win and did in fact win.

2.  The game often crashes - This is ghey independent of the reasons in item 1.

3. NA servers aren't up - This should have been coordinated better with the NA servers.  There are alot of frustrated NA players forced to play on laggy, full EU servers.

4.  EU Maps - Why does every EU map seem to favor a particular side?  Every single map seems to start one team either in a castle or higher ground.  This results in camping and general gheyness.

5.  Edit:  Team Horse Bumps - I agree with this in general, but it is ridiculous on maps like the docks map.  Cav cannot even move until all of their team move out.  Cav need to start out in front of their team so they don't need to bump to get out early.  If cav do not get out early, they do not beat pikemen to choke points.  If that doesn't happen, they lose any advantage of having a horse.

P.S.  Nerf Archers [more].
