cRPG Technical problems / Sudden acces to 'Admin' Panel
« on: August 04, 2014, 02:03:34 am »
I just logged on and noticed an 'admin' panel where I seem to be able to fiddle with admin ranks and revoke admin rights. I also can see the admins' warband keys. Apparently I am added in this list as an admin, but I cannot remember or recall what I must have done to be locked in that cage of monk- I mean, promoted to an admin.

I am dumbfounded by all of this, literally.

I have a slight suspicion that this is not intended. Here's a picture of how it looks.

If it is intended which I doubt highly, I blame Asini Africani.

Events & Tournaments / Re: Wedding of Zeus and Not so Innocent Virgin
« on: July 13, 2014, 04:25:12 am »
We need more events like this. How about an event as in:
"Not so Innocent Virgin escaped the wedding with Zeus and is escorted through a Swadian town by mercenary soldiers when a riot breaks out and civilians attempt to murder her."

Realism Discussion / Re: All dat armor must be heavy
« on: January 23, 2014, 07:05:59 pm »
Just throwing this in:

Armour limited movement because of its weight, but that weight was most prominent in wearing you down faster. A full suit of medieval plate armour with weaponry included weighs just as much as a modern soldier's battle outfit including weapons. Only difference: plate armour is well-distributed over the body, while a modern soldier has most of that in his ballistics vest and backpack.

And a modern soldier can still jump, run and do everything.

While I can already hear you saying that it doesn't restrict as much as plate armour, you are probably right, but one has to understand that plate armour was designed for fighting, and most if not every move one WOULD make during a fight is possible as a result of that.

So if we are going the realistic way, plate armour would be utterly OP: Despite the weight it'd give less speed penalties than heavy chainmail armour, while protecting from most if not all ranged weapons further than point blank, while being nigh invulnerable from non-heavy hits.

Gameplay-wise you'd have to find a balance in this, but I'm just throwing my realism cent in this realism board here.

Historical Discussion / Re: How was real melee like?
« on: August 14, 2013, 04:03:42 pm »
I've seen a battlefield reenactment of a 15th century battle.

They charegd at eachother with a clash worse than the most horriod rugby accident, trying to geta  hit in before shit turned real. It was hard to find friend or foe, and it quickly became one big chaoticx mess. Blocking was out of the picture since many blows were too weak to harm the plate armoured reenactors (mind that less armoured people would drop like flies) People'd stay in é unorganised lines trying to carefully pick off enemies, and single them out. Often 2 or 3 guys'd surround someone that lost his line and beat him from all sides. One of them facehugging so he was stuck in place, the others going batshit crazy on his back. Even the duels were not about blocking and hitting since most hits didn't have enough force behind them to really cause damage. In the rare cases that there was a real duel that you could consider like in the game, it ended as soon as one of them attempted a grapple or a single decent hit was delivered upon which the victor would grapple or keep spamming as much as possible on his stunned opponent unable to block.

It was terrifying in a way. One reenactor lost his sallet right before he was grappled upon which another reenactor fell chest-plate first on his face. Concussion, bleeding head-injury, lots of chaos and fear amongst the public as he was screaming and holding his face (we couldn't see his face)

Second injury, a bevor that didn't work properly and kept dropping, and the guy took a blunted sword on his nose bridge. Didn't break, but it bwas a cut to the bone. He let it be cleaned and fought on. Damnit man, hard-ass motherfuckers.

I also heard a story from one of them of a female reenactor taking an arrow to the eye (rubber blunted heads). She lost the eye.

Daaaammmmnnn.

Realism Discussion / Re: Archery rate of fire
« on: December 18, 2012, 03:58:26 pm »
Do note that he says that he doesn't draw his bow to the full extent, sacrificing (unrequired for his goals) armour penetration for rate of fire.

Give bows secondary mode with halved damage and similar (still slower, as he's a pro, comparable to full agi build with shortbow or whatever)

If you want to be a longspear, commit to it, dont do that 1h puss out shit.  The GOOD spearman dont drop their weapon for a sidearm, they wait for enemy to make mistake and kill them.  Getting WPF above 130~ means you are a true danger to anyone on the battlefield, even if they single you out to try and take you out first.  Getting your WPF up above 130 means you can recover from missed stabs/accidentally hitting ground or glancing in time to block attacks.

I have the 1h for other occasions, like siege maps or when engaged by spammers.
