Skyrim is awesome on Master if you play melee (and don't abuse shit to become uber powerful), dunno about other classes.
Hah you ranger bundle of stickss kiting mobs and call melee boring.
^
This

Pure melee face to face (mano y mano) non stealth kill melee looks so damn boring imo. Ranged Archery Duels are way more fun and Magicians fighting eachother as well with using Ward to shield off enemy spells and then spamming with firebolts/electric.

Because apparently the only things that interest you are the most cowardly, bitch styles available.  I am impressed sir, you are the very antithesis of manhood and manliness.  I shall forever more use you as my comparison for all things weak and bitch.
"Yo dawg, did you see me kite that monster for 10 minutes until he got bored and killed himself?!"
"Yeah bro, that shit was berenger as hell."

So I'm done with it, more or less. Unless I can find a dragon riding mod anytime soon I doubt I'll boot it up again.

I still have tons of unfinished quests, but I doubt any of those are giving me some memorable epic moment, so I'll just leave it at that. The biggest problem is that the fights are just so boring. It's not that they are too easy or too hard, just boring. I guess I would play on to explore some more dungeons, because some are really beautful
(click to show/hide)
, but always having to fight enemies ruins my exploration fun :P

Anyway, was a great game, I guess I had about 100 hours of fun with it, the details are really astonishing, the story was good, but not breathtaking, and in general I'd say a nice package with lots of features, hopefully that will be a slap on the wrist for some other game studios to get shit together and actually do something more advanced than just improving graphics and be done with that.

as for the story:

Anyway, I'm looking forward to some strategus siege now.

Im done with it, I think I have completed every quest there is, GO MEH, anyway.

As for the combat: I would say if you want it be boring go melee, want it to be very boring? go 2h melee :P, the warding thing for magic is quite a nice thing for the fights and archery is also pretty cool, but blocking in skyrim is useless, especially when everybody uses a power strike to just attack through, it have become quite like a hack n slash game.

Graphics: I would say that they have really improved the graphics, I also like how they made the map.

Quest: I think compared to oblivion that the quests was better, but in a way it was stille quite the same quests just added a little more touch to it than they did before, also its good that they got more voice actors than only having 14 like in oblivion.

No because Shield/2handed fighting atleast in Skyrim looks shit.

Back when i played CRPG i could enjoy playing as a shielder and occasionally as a mauler/hammer/blunt warrior.

But it's hard for me to enjoy the melee combat system in TES series. It's too slow, blocking is so meh and it's not the best combat system in any case either. I like exploring, sneaking around and etc etc..

And hating on disgusting Nords and High Elfs as well. Oh and also praying to the Night Mother and paying tributes to the Daedric Princes.

but blocking in skyrim is useless, especially when everybody uses a power strike to just attack through

Blocking in Skyrim actually uses a proper timing system.  If you twitch block at the right moments you are rewarded with decreased incoming damage (or none if you feat for it) along with a block stun against the attacker.  This works for both shield and non-shield blocks.

Also if you feat for blocking and use tap blocking with proper timing it becomes the most effective anti-melee defense there is in the game (other than exploited uber armors of exploiting my old friendgyness).
You also stop power attacks this way (except from very very very large critters like giants of smashing, lol)
I will fraps some footage to show you the difference between held blocks and timed blocks.  Other than there not being any directional blocking, when you combine the 4-directional power attacks it reminds me of really basic M&B combat.

*On a side note:  If the melee combat in DarkFail had been like it is in Skyrim I would have probably never stopped playing that MMO.  Sure it's not as in-depth as M&B, but it's a far cry better than any other MMO out there and has just enough timing-twitch based reward to make melee pvp fun.*

Oh those spoilers ruined it for me.  I am going to ship my copy back and get a refund (once I get it in the mail).   Also, a strategus siege is still 1-2 months away as no one can afford to lose that much gold ina  siege when the looting system is still broken.

I actually rather like Skyrim's melee - on Master. It forces you to time your blocks right, use shieldbash(and powershieldbash) to create openings, footwork so you don't get surrounded, combos (normal attack, normal attack, powerattack.. the powerattack is instant if you do it like that, or at least seems that way) and there are actually different moves: going sideways to the right and attacking is a different attack, as is moving to the left etc. Not to forget the sprinting jump-attacks you get after you unlock the perk.

This combined with different Shouts (although Elemental Fury is heads and shoulders above other shouts when it comes to melee chars) and the occasional use of environment makes it fun. On Master. On the other difficulties you can basically left-click your way to victory.

The timing with blocking have to be really precise then, because i tried to tap it at the right moment, but it didnt seem to work out for me. It was also like that in oblivion btw with the blocking.

I'm pretty sure that Xant can verify the timed blocking mechanics.  And yes, it is pretty precise.  But having played WB so long everyone here that's half decent at melee should be able to do them no problem.

Maybe it depends on some perks. In the beginning I remember thinking that the tap-blocks didn't work at all, but now they work very well. Or it may be me getting used to Skyrim's combat.

Anyone know if the "shield wall" perk that reduces damage from blocking works without shield? I mean it's not very clear, because the perk says nothing about being shield only. And the description of "block skill" is for 1h, 2h weapons and shields. :S

Yes actually, it does work without a shield.
Skyrim actually seems to work pretty well that way.  Unless it specifies "with a shield" or "With a 2h'd weapon" etc then the ability does work across the board.  The only difference being that you don't have a "bash" without a shield, so obviously those abilities don't work without one (even though it doesn't specify).  However on my 2h'd hammer specialist I did have a reason to grab 5 shield wall, and the 2 ranks of "time slows down" if you block during an enemies power attack.  Combined with heavy armor perks he's a juggernaut of destruction.  Of course I did make a 2nd melee character that uses a shield and 1her along with light armor just for variety and I have to say that I love the fatality animations along with shield bashing.  Also sprinting with my shield up and knocking enemies down as I collide into them really makes me remember how much I hate the treatment of shield combat in WB/cRPG.  Shields are such cool weapons along with being defensive tools and they're hardly ever treated as such because of all the "OMG 2her only" hollywood hype and hate.
And I should be nice or polite to anyone.... why exactly?

I just finished the main quest, lvl 33 now with 43 Hours of gametime, iam Archmage, bard, Guildmaster of the Thieves and what-not-else, but now the air is kinda out for me.

After the rather unsatisfieing End everything is back to normal, and I dont really want to do any Sidequests right now because it feels cheapish. Also weird that Most People dont lick my ass now that I saved the world and such.Oh Well.

I should have waited with ending the Main quest until i was lvl 50 or something.Than I´d at least feel as if I played through the whole game.
Maybe it woud be better for me to find out where you life and kill you when you are satch a Soziopath. You have enough now.
