All unbalanced weapons should be unsheathable

It just makes sense - you would have to spend 5 minutes strapping a Great Maul to your back in order to secure it sufficiently to allow you to run without it flapping about and seriously annoying you :D

It also probably balances them out a bit

2H axes are under used because the larger 2H swords have overpowered cut damage in comparison.

If anybody has ever tried to cut down a tree with a sword they will realise that 43 cut damage on a Highland Claymore is silly when the Great Axe only has 43 cut damage.

Yes, lets balance weapons on their ability to chop trees.

A proper sheath would allow the user to carry even the most unwieldy weapon.

Ok shall we swap to butchers tools?

What does a butcher use to chop (not slice) up meat - a lovely balanced knife or a great big unbalanced cleaver that is essentially an axe?

@Casimir - How long would it take to sheath an axe properly on your back? And how easy would it be to get that weapon out again if it is so well secured that it doesn't annoy you?

Why not slice, whats wrong with slicing?

Okay, let me elaborate why your suggestion makes no sense. How long would it take to sheath the balanced poleaxe to your back? How long would it take to sheath the balanced flamberge to your back? What would make sense is making all weapons that are longer than 120  are unsheathable or something along those lines.

The degree of annoyment when carrying a weapon on your back has nothing to do with 'unbalancedness' but rather with the length of the weapon. It still would be completely uneccesarry even when its based on length.

Slicing ruins my argument ;) Besides the curved "slicing" swords all have increased damage anyway so that is taken into account already.

The next item on my list of requests was going to be to make all the polearms with large, heavy, metal heads unbalanced, but i was going for 1 thing at once :D  It doesn't make sense that the Voulge is unbalanced (length 124, weight 3) when the Long Bardiche (length 140, weight 3.5), the Long War Axe (length 123, weight 3.2), the Great Long Axe (length 125, weight 3.5), the German Poleaxe (length 131, weight 3), etc aren't.  All the ones I named (plus more) are similar in design, length and weight (if not heavier) yet they are balanced.

The degree of annoyment when carrying a weapon on your back has nothing to do with 'unbalancedness' but rather with the length of the weapon. It still would be completely uneccesarry even when its based on length.
I'd take doing it based on length if it was also based on weight.  So over 120 length OR over 4.9 weight = unsheathable.  It achieves the same result as my main aim :D

All polearms except Long Axe and Shortened Spear unsheathable then?
I voted Gurnisson cause of his fucking bendy pike, I swear noone can roflcopter stab like he can.

Yes, but a greatsword is also incredibly hard to sheath on your back, while a morningstar could easily be slotted into a belt mounted sheath.

And Bec de Corbin - Although i'd make that length 120.1 just to get that on the list as well :D

Morningstars are only 3.7 wieght so would still be sheathable.

Only the following 2H weapons would be unsheathable with the weight/length limits
Maul, Mallet, Great Maul, Sword of War, Nodachi, German Greatsword, Danish Greatsword, Flamberge

Which is completely retarded. If (almost) all polearms would end up unsheathable, (almost) all the 2Hs should as well.

Edit: You would also have to nerf ranged classes too, because so many 2Hs and polearmers couldn't possibly carry a shield anymore.

Well given that I also believe that ranged should only be allowed 1 quiver (24-32 arrows, currents #s of Bolts) then that wouldn't be so much of an issue :D

EDIT: Also what % of non hoplite polearmers and 2Handers actually uses shields?  10% maybe?  Its not exactly going to change the world :D

The smart ones that usually top scoreboards. Dezilagel, Tor, Cooties etc. I would've gotten 2 shield skill instead of 2 IF if I didn't use unsheathable polearms all the time. :)
