Beginner's Help and Guides / Weapon Lengths/speed guide?
« on: March 17, 2011, 07:48:41 pm »
I keep hearing how weapon lengths and speeds are different depending on their grip and weapon category.  For example, one should not compare the 100 length/speed stat on a 1h sword with a 100 length/speed stat on a pole arm or 2h weapon.  This is extremely confusing for new players (including me!).

Can we PLEASE get updated weapon stats in the Shop (or at least some kind of guide) that shows objective weapon strike ranges and speed ratings regardless of weapon style?

We could perhaps average the overhead and side swings to determine the average strike range of a weapon, and thereby determine accurate weapon-to-weapon comparisons.

Is this a possibility, or am I just dreaming a noobies dream?

Thanks all!  To be honest, I was waiting for a 2nd (and 3rd!) opinion on this. :)

I'm still a few levels away from retiring, and even further away from having this build levelled enough to use it.  This is good info though.  Thanks!

But I have the feeling that throwing with 1 wpf or 100 wpf doesnt really matter.

Can anyone confirm this?  Is accuracy only determined by PT?

Beginner's Help and Guides / Critique Build: Cav + Throwing
« on: March 16, 2011, 08:08:48 pm »
Hello, noob here.  I'm thinking this for my 2nd gen character.  It's a balanced build... a Cavalry major with a minor in throwing (for anti-cav and anti-pikemen).

    * Strength: 18
    * Agility: 18
    * Hit points: 53

    * Converted: 2
    * Ironflesh: 0
    * Power Strike: 6
    * Shield: 3
    * Athletics: 0
    * Riding: 5
    * Horse Archery: 3
    * Power Draw: 0
    * Power Throw: 6
    * Weapon Master: 6

    * One Handed: 1
    * Two Handed: 1
    * Polearm: 140
    * Archery: 1
    * Crossbow: 1
    * Throwing: 90

My main question: is throwing from horseback any good with 3 HA?  Also, I might switch out Polearms for 1H, because I like chopping from the saddle.  Is this build any good?  Enlighten me!  THANKS!

I like the Long Arming Sword.  This forgotten sword (don't see it mentioned anywhere...) is within a couple points of the best swords (in terms of damage and speed) but is slightly longer than the side sword and 3k or 4k cheaper!  This lets you have 3k worth of more armor, etc.  It works well for me, and is a good choice for horseback as well.

Long Arming Sword
cost: 5k
spd rtng 98
weapon length 102
swing damage 30, cut
thrust damage 24 pierce

vs.

Long Espada                   Nordic Champ Sword
cost: 8k                                         cost: 8k
spd rtng 98                                   spd rtng 97
weapon length 103                      weapon length 102
swing damage 29, cut                  swing damage 32, cut
thrust damage 28 pierce               thrust damage 21 pierce

Sidesword
cost: 9k
spd rtng 101
weapon length 95
swing damage 32, cut
thrust damage 26 pierce

LOL best post.  Very funny. :)

Let's not ban TK's so quickly.  They add an element of humor and surprise to the game.

I say if they can't be handled (aka put down) by their own teammates, kick them.  If they keep coming back, ban for a while.  I like it when a teamie attacks me and I get to take him out. :)

General Discussion / Re: The Leeching Rule on the NA servers
« on: March 15, 2011, 07:30:41 pm »
I agree with most everything said.  We should kick obvious leachers (naked, etc) after a warning.  Be lenient with the warnings though, because new players might not know the rules.  I'm fairly new myself, and it took me a while to discover how to even earn gold...and then longer to learn was "leaching" was and that it was bad.

Also, please be lenient with AFKers.  Game time can often be interrupted by significant others for 5 mins or so here and there.  "Honey do this, what do you think of that," ect.  Sucks if you have to lose a 5x because you had to go get some items off the top shelf for her for a couple mins.   :|

Hello,

My name is Garisson, and I was invited to join the clan by Huey Newman the other night.

I'm kind of a new player, but I hold my own well enough.  I'm currently lv 22, with 100 skill in polearms and 1 handed.  I recently upgraded my equipment, but I still only have a rouncey horse.  (damn expensive horses!)  Cav is by far the most fun to play, and if I can team up with other cavalry, I think we'll do very well.  Being new, I am definitely interested in getting build advice and learning new tactics!

My steam name is G2knee.  Thanks!
