Diplomacy / In Remembrance of Mithrim
« on: January 11, 2018, 08:26:29 pm »
Thalion sat smoking his pipe in front of a dilapidated Manor house that was the the main building, and in fact the only large building, apart from the mill in the whole of New Ismirala village.  Looming in the distance was a Ismirala castle, a castle that now belonged to another faction.  After the great AFK plague there had been a brief revival of the noble Noldork heritage that was deeply rooted in the lands of Calradia, the son's of Mithrim along with other hearty northerners rose up and created the Northern Dominion.  Yet the world was wracked by more tragedy and then the great Admin-Ban Plague started which cut down much of Calradia in its new found glory.

Thalion, once Viceroy of Mithirm and later a leader in the Northern Dominion had retreated from the world. For years now he had lived in this falling down manor just to keep an eye on the good folk of Mithrim that still lived in the North, even if they had forgotten now from whence they came.

Now, a letter had come from an old comrade thought dead.

"Thalion my old friend, we have fought both with and against each other in many wars throughout the years. However, no war or time period is as important as this. With the world as we know it on the line. I would selfishly ask you to put on your armor, sharpen your sword, and call your bannerman as we take the field for what may be our last strat. Let us not go down as the ones that let it die, let us go out as the ones that brought strat back to life.

The peasents and the lords of the realm are starting to stir. We are seeing People that have not been seen in eons start to grind and move, to what ends we dont know. And with the HCE fractured and weakend with the death of the emperor there is no time to waste as we gather our forces and our resolve as we set forth to start a new age.

- Mr Blue"

Thalion set the letter down and took a long puff on his pipe. At least the war had not cut off trade with the south completely and he was still able to get decent pipe weed. He frowned, though the letter was written in warm tones something still disheartened him.  True, the old Northern Dominion was dead, and it's memory swept away by a new people... yet those new people were also practitioners of Chazdsim... which is kinda like Marxism only with Great-helms. They were ancient foes of Mithrim indeed. Yet, what if they could grant back the ancestral castle of Ismirala? What if the Wardens of Mithrim could be revived to its former glory... what if... if.... if...

Thalion was suddenly reminded of really good poem named "If" by Rudgar Kipling. Didn't he see Michael Caine reading that once on youtube? Suddenly, curious, Thalion dug out his scrying mirrior and opened up a new browser tab....

Yes, we have their entire faction surrounded and blockaded.  They may choose to surrender, but we will not accept. Firstly, we hold several distinct advantages. Namely, Tristan and Cassander are being held hostage in Tilbault. Captured during the many failed attempts to assault the castle.

Secondly, as I stated already, we have their entire faction encircled with armies, siege works, and fortifications. We call it, the great-bowl.  For unlike a wall which is straight, an encirclement is circular, it is as if through much effort we have raised a mighty toilet around a turd. These ariel photos from the Northern Dominion's Gnomish Air-Balloon Corps proves it beyond the doubt of a shadow.

Get wrecked CC. GG no rematch.

Diplomacy / Northern Dominion (Wardens) Disbanding
« on: April 02, 2016, 04:23:50 am »
Hey, so after the new banner I was wearing tonight in the siege of Shariz and I was starting to get some messages asking question.  Because I just got a new job and don't really have time to lead a strat faction I am going to disband Northern Dominion (Wardens) and we are going to join MERC and pretty much do the mercenary thing for the rest of strat.

To the folks who have made Northern Dominion go this far I appreciate your effort. At least we survived Halitosis and had some good battles and took some fiefs. Thanks y'all.

Tristain, I suspect this will complicate our war and your alliance with Knightmare and MERC.  Just message him to talk about the details.  If I were you, this would probably be a good time to make peace.

NA (Official) / Please Ban: Speed_Lenny_The_Katana

My character: Arn_Tirith_Ecthelion
The offending party: Speed_Lenny_The_Katana
Time: 12:15 PM (EST)
Incident: Recently respected to a 1h shield/thrower built. Was practicing with my throwing axes in NA1 and Speed Lenny decided he didn't like throwing so he team killed me.
Reason he did what he did: He said that he didn't like throwing (see screen shot) and probably felt it was not appropriate for low-pop server time. (There were only about 6 people in the server at this time). While I can see his argument, throwing in my secondary ability in my build. I cannot out run anyone. Anyone can close distance with me by the time I get 2-3 throwing axes off, which are not impossible to dodge. It's not a build I can troll anyone with.
Witnesses: Bishop_Theomere, Olaf_AxeFace, Albus_KUTT.

Screenshot here: For some reason my computer only wanted to take blank black screen shots so I had to take a picture of my computer screen with my phone. Sorry, but that's the best I can do. Still, it does capture his attitude if nothing else.

Diplomacy / The Viceory's Journal
« on: June 22, 2015, 05:54:33 pm »
Chapter One: Peril in the Trees:

It was around the time of the Novgorodian Crisis when the Viceory disappeared. With the peace negotiations still hanging by the thread, Thalion had departed the castle of Slezkh to run a convoy of weapons and silver to Ismirala Keep, the Warden's capital. Manpower was low, so he had only his household soldiers with him, a company of around one hundred.  Far fewer than was safe to carry such a large cache of valuables. Still it had to be done, the army was assembling and must be ready if peace talks fell through.

They had been travelling now for several days. It was slow going, though the weather was not unpleasant. Thought it was summer in the far north, it rarely rose above 60 degrees. As they passed into the forests that surrounded the bridge of Curaw, however, the going became more difficult. Hills rose up, often with bleak and grey rocks jutting above the tops of the trees, barren and windswept. To complicate matters worse, the last two outriders had not returned, which boded ill.

Thalion was just about to order a halt to regroup and send out a proper scouting party, in force, when they came around the bend to discover several fallen trees across the road. It must have been a very sharp wind that blew these trees over, for as Thalion examined them closer it looked as though they had been felled by an axe.

"Shields up!"  shouted Thalion in a loud voice and not a moment to soon as crossbow bolts and arrows came whizzing through the trees. Several men fell.  Suddenly  his horse heaved and threw him off, he hit the ground hard. Men were now charging down from the trees towards the caravan. Bandits, by the look at them.

Thalion was still trying to get air back into his lungs when a dirty fur clad man stood in the sunlight, casting a shadow over the Viceory. "Your money or your life!"  said the man, showing a mouthful of crooked and yellow teeth.  His facial expression contorted in pain however when a young squire skewered him form behind with a warspear.

"Well done, Squire!"  said Thalion getting his to feet with a wince. The situation was bad, there were still arrows and bolts coming form the trees, pinning down the majority of the men at arms. Most of the knights had already had their horses shot out from behind them. While other small parties of raiders were fighting for possession of the wagons, while other bandits, less patient, were trying to plunder the wagons in the midst of battle.

"This way!" said Thalion, beckoning to the Squire, the sprinted for the circular shield-wall that had been formed, consiting of a mishmash of men-at-arms, knights and everyone else who didn't want to be shot.

"We can't loose the cargo, and we can't turn the wagons and escape with them in this hail of arrows, we've got to get up into those trees and disperse the archers, at least for a while. Do we have any ranged?" As luck would have it there were a handful of archers and huntsmen with their crossbows in caravan. "Good, so here's the plan..."

A moment later the shield wall erupted as a dozen men with shields pushed forward on either side up into the trees, followed by half that number of two handers.  The ranged, that were once on the inside of that circle now turned their attention towards the unprotected men raiding the wagons and opened fire. Bandits started to drop quickly.  Fortunately the speed of the attack occupied the enemy ranged on each side of the road, and they did not have the time to direct their fire towards the exposed backs of the men advancing on the opposite flank. For had they, things might have gone poorly. As it was, the shields covered the advance, the hurried barrage of arrows and bolts was rendered harmless. The agi-builds in the company then sprinted forward to close in on the archers. Bandits began to fall quickly, and were driven off.

So rapid was the advance, however, that had started as a tight push, was not becoming ragged and spaced out.  Thalion gave the order for a retreat and his men began to withdraw. Looking behind him he scanned the woods for sign of the retreating bandits. All he could hear now was the crash of running heading in the opposite direction, how fading from earshot.  Hopefully enough bandits had been slain or driven off to give them time to clear the road and get moving again.

Suddenly, he felt a pain in his left shoulder. "By all the Valar..." he said threw gritted teeth as he looked down and saw a crossbow bolt that had made it through his mail and gambeson.  The bolt was not buried that deeply but it looked as though he had already lost a decent amount of blood. How long had it been there?  Somewhere in the rush of battle, between the adrenaline and the excitement he had been shot and not even noticed. Then he heard a twig snap. A bandit stepped out from the nearest tree, where he had stood concealed behind its trunk. Thalion raised his sword as the bandit crossed the distance and swung a heavy wooden mallet in a crushing blow against the viceroy. He managed to avoided being crushed, though the parry had caused him to stagger back, and loosing his foot on a root began a very quick ascent down into a bramble filled gully that reached out with painful and welcoming arms to embrace him.  His head hit something hard and he knew no more.

OFFICIAL MITHRIM DIPLOMATIC RESPONSE:

Truly low and base-born, is he who steals as a thief in the night what could have been received as a gift.

Mithrim hereby revokes all lands and titles held by Radsvid the Lightbringer, and declares the former castellion of Grunwalder castle an outlaw within the realm. Those associated with Radsvid shall also forfeit their fiefs and may seek pardon or reinstatement depending upon their role in future negotiations.

The territories of Nova Grunwalder Castle and the villages of Serindiar, Saramish, Emer and Chaeza will immediately be returned to Mithrim or will be reclaimed militarily.

Let it be known throughout the land, that any landless lords, or nobles of small estates may join in any ensuing military operations. Whatever fiefs they take, they shall keep and be rightfully theirs.  The larger nations of the Chadizian Empire  and Arch Oligarc Duchy are excluded from this agreement as they already have sufficient territories as befit great houses of the realm.

Signed,
Lord Finnian Tiercel
Viceroy Thalion

Diplomacy / War in the North

It was a tragedy that would spark countless deaths in the north (or not). While resting in their beds, a town under the lordship of Black Company was attacked by mercenaries, armed in armor from the desert lands but bearing the banner of Acre. Among the townsmen, a was a simple merchant and towns folk from the Ward of Mithrim, not knowing the reason, only that war was upon them, they took up arms with the peasants of Bhulaban and manages to slay a few of the brutes before being cut down without mercy.

Word would spread quickly, by errand rider and messenger bird, to the Warden's stronghold of Ismirala. War unlooked for? From those who had just been given aid? Even as these tidings came, rumor began to spread that a host sent by King Lord Bryggan was already on the march.

Meanwhile, the Viceory drew newly returned from the south drew up battle plans for the defense of the realm while battles hosts of Mithrim returned from the southlands. It would be a hard fight, but they would hold. They must hold.

"Herald, Bring me pen and parchment, I would send word to Ki- Lord Bryggan and see if he can yet be dissuaded from this path of madness," said Thalion while still pouring over maps of the lands surrounding the castle. Where would Bryggan come from?  Straight from Curaw, or across the bridge to the north? "Double the castle watch and send out riders to the northern bridge and the forests that stand between us and the city of Curaw," he added as the herald departed, who paused briefly to acknowledge the orders before stepping quickly down the hallway.

Looking for a good fight to end this round of strat. I heard Tilbaut was hard to take so I figured i'd give it a go. Great weapons, plenty of siege gear. We are not going to run out of ladders, thats for sure. Lots of c-sites and mats for catapults too. Lets have one last good fight guys.

http://c-rpg.net/index.php?page=strategusbattlesupcoming#!?page=strategusinfobattledetail&id=3248

Astralis, you boys were good enemies in the earliest days of strat and you have a lot of skilled players.  Lets do this right and do our best to get a decent roster on both sides.  Let me know  if your roster is badly short and I'll see what I can do.

All the best,
- Thalion
