Hi
This is the thread for progressive rock, NOTHING ELSE!
So, whats progrock, you may ask. If you dont like rock, your not interested in progrock.
We will never agree exactly about what progressive rock is, but the Oxford Companion to Music states that progressive rock bands "...explored extended musical structures which involved intricate instrumental patterns and textures and often esoteric subject matter." I think thats enough to start with?
I dont want this thread to be a "what is progressive rock" or a "techno sucks" or "your all nerds"-thread. What I want is this thread to become a recommendation-thread. I want all you progressive rock-fans to post ONE, and only ONE recommendation of a progressive rock-song per day. A link to the song on youtube or some other legal site. Remember to write what band and song your linking to.
So whats posted so far?

I feel that this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mIRnZ6sAxWY#t=0m54s) is a more apt description of what prog rock actually is. You said to only recommend one song which sadly leaves out Pink Floyd's albums (Which I don't listen to as albums, I play through them as if one song) so I guess I'll have to go with recommending Africa by Quartered: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yq_hJ4HiyYs
-
Aye, I got the same point of view on pink floyd, except maybe some of their older albums. (The piper at the gates.. aint really a concept album).
Very interesting song you linked to.
My song of today is this one:
Gentle Giants - Knots

Ok guys, I really like the idea of this thread, I might need some education on that subject. I've discovered that Pink Floyd was pretended to be prog, I didn't knew, but I like them so... :D I also like Phill Collins and what he composed with Genesis.
So here's my "entry": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h9OILKwaFNA (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h9OILKwaFNA) dEUS - Vantage point.
I'm still unsure if this is really prog, but it is some kind of rock, maybe more pop rock, so don't blame me. And even if it doesn't fit here, I hope you'll agree with me that the part at 3:55 is just fucking amazing.
EDIT: Hmm, after listening to some entries, I guess this obviously isn't any prog rock, hope you like it though. :wink:
EDIT2: This one better? ---> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GpGEeneO-t0 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GpGEeneO-t0)

Well, fiding a progrock thread located in a sub-forum dedicated to a multiplayer mod is... quite
surprising, but anyway :
