I'm Fuer/Death's older brother we've played the mod for years just putting in my 2 cents to confirm what he's talking about. We've just come back to the mod after a long break, if anything can be done it would be much appreciated.

Well, 5 infantry has a hard time countering 5 ranged, and an impossible job against 5 HA.

Mm 5 infantry with  no ranged, no xbow, no throwing... Good ole' C-rpg builds... Better complain that we can't counter something even though we have 100% free choice as to how we make our builds.

5 infantry with shields + throwing and those HA will have to stay moving far away taking pot shots with their crap accuracy & shit damage, bam you as infantry have just contested Horse Archers.. Something no c-rpg player thought possible.

Also 5 HA on a open map is a pretty big target, on a tinier more urban map it's near impossible for all 5 to coordinate and attack the same targets.

Any who are wanting their beard to show up or maybe not show up this is what ya gotta do.

1. Make a back up of your cRPG item_kinds1.txt
2. Open WORDPAD or NOTEPAD or w/e as administrator then open item_kinds1.txt
3. CTRL+F Strange_War_Mask (or whatever your helmet name is)
4. Change "68719476748" (without quotes) to "12" (also without quotes)
5. Repeat until all 68719476748 are turned to 12
6. Save & open cRPG, your helmet will now show your beard or not show your beard depending on what you set it.

68719476748 = no beard
12 = beard

The real reason you feel helpless fighting in melee as an archer is your lack of PS means that all your attacks glance, if you manage to make any.

Hmm, pure archer? 18/18 6ps, 6ath, 6pd grab 50-80 wpf in your chosen melee spec.. & should be good.

8 riding seems a bit much for the super low survivability.


When I did gens as HA, I went 18/24 (no melee skills, no IF) for 8 riding 4 HA crazy archery WPF.

That is not a level 30 build.

At lvl 30 with 18/24, 8 riding and 4 HA you have 5 skill points left over.

Make a Skip The Fun alternative character and try out any build around these ones.
(you can do that by respeccing stf chars, which is completely free with no exp. penalties)

This, best way is to just test it and see for yourself. IMO your build currently is fine, maybe a little too much throwing wpf for only 4 power throw. Could probably have gone 5 or 6 pt with that much throwing and pick up pretty much anything on the battlefield, but that really depends on how much armor you wear.

Sometimes shorter and faster is better for tighter village & castle maps. Length isn't always a positive.

It's good there is a variety between shorter and longer weapons that are otherwise similar.

lol I agree sometimes shorter+faster is better & also variety is good but...
to pay more money for +2 speed, because on those tighter village & castle maps that 2 speed is worth the 400+ gold in upkeep vs the bardiche.
That just sounds silly.

the long bardiche, for it's price, is a much better weapon.

For 400+ gold more in upkeep look at what positives you're getting..

+2 speed and -1 difficulty is definitely not worth it.

Especially since it's 16 str vs 17, most people who use these weapons have atleast 18 strength so they can get 6 PS or 6 IF...

Other funny thing is that a little while ago before the +1 Speed and +1 dmg buff people wondered why anyone used the longsword.

Longsword is fine, it's a great weapon.

On NA longsword/heavy bastard sword were the main 2hs, where is this part in time where people wondered why anyone used the longsword?

37 cut 23 pierce or 40 cut 25 pierce at masterwork.. is a wet noodle to you, I don't believe you've played the other melee classes enough.

Btw this thread sucks, why did I post in a thread where the OP starts off with "This weapon is gay" lol

I voted No, but it could be funny to know where most ppl are trying to go, find a nice spot and nail them with arrows. A group of standing close to each other players is a really good shooting target. There will always be a few unaware players that will notice me after I`ll put an arrow in their head  :twisted:

You can already do this, on my horse archer I rush out every round and put at least 3 arrows into the mass amount of people as they're walking out of spawn. sdjkfn(or however you spell it) does this practically every round on his horse crossbow. It's surprisingly effective, people don't expect arrows/bolts to the face a few seconds after they spawn.

In battle atm it's not about knowing where people are going to go, you know that if you sit on a hill the entire round they'll eventually have to come and kill you in order to finish the round, or wait around doing nothing for MOTF.

Snowy village map almost always has people camp that giant mountain/hill that the one team spawns beside. After a few rounds of camping-butt-rape people want to camp the "xp barn" to counter the mountain/hill campers. It turns into a very long and boring map.

MOTF isn't reliable atm, takes too long most of the time for it to be an effective counter to these incredibly boring playstyles and leads to people just sitting around waiting for it or charging in to have some fun before dying and waiting in spec for the circus act of a map to end.

I feel adding this would probably make the game feel a little more gamey/arcadey since everyone would be expecting MOTF and pretty much forced to fight in certain locations. Anyway this last bit I'm just trying to say I don't dislike how battle is now, I like the freedom of being able to use different tactics and parts of the map but sometimes those different tactics or parts of the map don't make for the most exciting gameplay for everyone. I think that's what I wanted to add to this.

my guess is with most swords the thrust was mostly done using "half swording" to add strength to the thrust to actually penetrate armor with far less chance of a glancing blow, so I'm guessing it's a little bit of what Smooth said and a little bit historical accuracy.
