Personally I didn't like Dayz that much, but now that they are making the standalone, perhaps I'll pick it up if the price is not too high.İ didn't like mod version too but i believe standalone will be better
Standalone will be release in July .

You get it cheaper if you have the mod
Dude, the mod is free.I think what he ment by that is those that have a DayZ mod account or smthing get a price reduction for the standalone.
Stell con't gat pest Ruckit's eccint
its fucking horribleWhat, it's glorious music to my ears, really. :o
Shooting while running, finally.
DayZ is an overrated shit heap and standalone is proving to be simply a slightly more polished shit heap, no thanks gtfo.
alot of the resources already ported to arma3 from standalone. so who knows where the mod may go or some of the community may do with them.
DAYZ IS OUT! FINALLYhttp://store.steampowered.com/app/221100/
Up to 40 players per server - Rich server / client architecture developed from scratch.
lame
So uh, I found a book in the game. Over 400 pages of French...
Feels, as predicted, like a polished ArmA 2 game. Everything is pretty familiar. Melee combat is still unfortunately quite clunky, exactly like it was in ArmA 2, bit sad about them not revamping it, dunno if it is on their list of to-do though.
If you're strap for cash then no need to buy this game just yet, unless you simply just need to play a survival game, but no doubt when it is done it'll be the best one of all the survival games available.
I just woke up on the backseat of a car with handcuffs.erm theres no cars in dayz yet lol
A russian gang kidnapped me, after waking me up they got me out of the car and drove over me. Good first day experience i guess.
Arma 2 engine with arma 2 problems, so yeah no thx, i think devs forgot what year we are living in, theres better stuff like this out there by now. From what i have seen, theres no survival mmo out there that offers as much things as dayz does, even if its still in alpha
'We've run out of money. Time to press the big red 'Alpha Steam Release' button.'
Or... if you want to buy it now becasue its half the price it will be upon full release, then buy it for £20 now and dont play til you see it for £40 on Steam.
I played with a friend and he had the same problem than kerrigan on point 4, we played together for a bit then his screen started to turn greyish then he fell unconscious. My screen is starting to turn grey to ingame but i didnt fall unconscious yet. I keep getting a message saying im tired but i dont know what to do (is there an option to take a nap?). I ate, drank, put some bandages,i dont know what to do now.(click to show/hide)

Sounds like me irl.It sounds similiar to me from Sword Art Online(click to show/hide)
for some reason i always start as female, black one ..... loot is terribly rare, i looted hospital and found shitty rotten fruit , i looted school and i found green hat. Still low fps for me :(You should customize your character and click the button called "save as default" or something like that .
Hopefully that stuff gets patched soon.
There is no patching that, the system is just flawed.
I thought that was the big draw of them making the stand alone version, was that they could prevent hacking easier. Glad I didn't waste money on the alpha. Will keep holding out that some company will implement this right (hell even a single player type of game like this would be awesome).
Have any of you guys seen hackers personally yet? Sounds like a huge, huge let down already.
Shopped or not, Rocket's reply is sad.Huh? Why is it sad? In essence, he said "if there's a hack, it's because of a small hole that will be patched." Isn't that the best kind of news?
Well my first experience was stumbling into Balotta, getting shot at, luckily picking up a baseball bat, killing the bastard and then sadistically killing every poor sod who wondered in there with my trusty bat.
Found an M1A1 with no ammo. Got a nice rucksack and some pretty cool clothes.
So far I'm enjoying it a fair bit although not having a real indicator of food levels sucks. I ate some food and 2 mins later it said I was starving again.
No hackers yet as far as I've seen.
Zombies are still glitchy as hell. Meleeing them is suicidal as they can hit you from 3 times the range you can hit them for some bizarre reason.
Funny how Rocket seemed to learn nothing from dayz mod. Why would you release any version of standalone where people can just log out of battle.i once was looting Dispatcher tover in airfield and had only axe, next moment i hear that someone is reloading behind me and there he was, guy spawned right next to me and moment i started moving his way to chop him like christmas tree he instantly disconnected :(
Dado and me chasing a guy for 5 minutes with axes, laughing like homocidal maniacs. After i say "Hey bro, stop, we are friendly.... We just want to hug you.... with axes."
The motherfucker logs out in front of our eyes. Where is the fun in that??
i once even found ammo for weapon i had :D ussualy i run around with some sort of assault rifle without any ammunition , but it looks damn cool!the best part is that they dont know how much ammo u have , so if u see someone without weapon just say stop or i ll shoot :D me and umbra did that , guy stopped and he was about to say "Okey i stop dont KILL me" but umbra chop his head :D :D :D

teach me how to use medicine, i am clearly suffering pain and dunno waht to do, i am also low on blood :(tbh we didnt have such problems yet :D umbra said something if u eat enough to full your stomach u could regenerate your blood, maybe u could give a try :D

I lost some colour because of hunger, sickness (eating rotten food because of hunger), and getting hit by a zombie once. To get rid of sickness I ate a lot, and at 15 minute interval stook doses of antibiotics, multivitamins and cleeaned my wounds with alcohol. After still being sick for 45 mins I ate a charcoal tablet (on the advice of Darko, I thought he might have been trying to kill me :D). Anyway ten minutes after I ate the charcoal I was no longer sick. Ive now had a full belly from tinned food and drinks for maybe 1.5 hrs but dont seem to be regainaing colour very quickly if at all! At least its not blurry any more.It was a bug that your blood woulnt regenerate, i had the same thing to, low blood, ate tons and no effects. Anyway it seems like they have corrected it with the patch.

Military tents removed from Cherno and Stary Sobor
Where is that review from? His Steam? He's hardly under any obligations to list any bugs then... or anything else at all, he's free to type "dicks" x1000 if he feels like it, dev or not.
Why are people milking the Alpha? Wait until it's atleast in beta D:too poor to buy alpha eh?
too poor to buy alpha eh?
Wasted all mah moneys on steam sales.and i got nothing from you on xmas?
So where do you get if you want guns? Bored because there's no good loot in the cities. Having a gun would be great.
yesterday played with a friend , trolled him a bit make him believe he was facing a true bandit (but that was me undercover).:D when i ussualt try to handcuf someone they just disconnect :( my plan is to handcuff someone and take his blood
he greeted me with f1 , i answered back with an f2 , then i rolled again on the floor like a dog , he followed me rolling , suddenly i handcuffed him (he was like ) , found an interesting book in his inventory , i swapped it with a payday mask , force fed him some strange antibiotics i found , then i showed myself trolling.
after half an hour he said me he was going bed , so i handcuffed him again (because i was sure i had the keys but i didn't) , tried to find a solution , force fed him again some rotten bananas with soda , didn't work, so told him to press a and d quickly , no luck.
he's still there handcuffed , may the lord bless him.
:D when i ussualt try to handcuf someone they just disconnect :( my plan is to handcuff someone and take his blood
this disconnect thing is lame , very lame. server hopping also lame , hope they change their mind on these semicheat things.
DayZ cycle of life: Finding gear -> then find people to "use" that gear on :twisted:oh shit yesterday when me and couple guys played together we went to bolota airfield and every single killed player had no pants on
Though it would seem a lot play it for the exploring too, but then they'll just have to imagine running into some nasty NPC's :D
I can't wait for when we can actually string people up in trees with the rope, plus bag people's heads so their green goes black.(click to show/hide)
All the horrible things people will be able to do to each other once this game is finished  I wonder if it'll be banned in some countries.
There's already some weird tendencies going on, where people hold up others just to rob someone of their pants, and literally every body around has had their pants ripped off...
1st thing i will do wehn i see someone :D
lol the dude sounds exactly like Guy in teamspeak lmao

Phoenix bought it so i just got to try it, played 43 minutes. got too bored to continue, so I jumped off top floor of multiple floor building (which was empty of items) in an attempt to commit suicide but landed in a bush and took no damage. so I instead just exited via the menu.
I've enjoyed watching some of the new dayz videos, game can still be hilarious. I'm sure If I put in 20 hours I would have something amusing happen, but fact is new day z is simply worse and less fun than the day z mod I played back in the day. Even once they add back in zombies, loot, fun, etc. its still going to be basically a carbon copy of the mod but with better inventory system and a price tag.
I know its alpha but I frankly that's irrelevant. Firstly because they are charging for it, so money is no object since they have already sold a billion copies of this alpha aswell as arma 2 for day z mod. Secondly because its been over a year and all they have done is taken 1 step forward, but 3 back. thirdly because once its finished the direction will still be the wrong one; they aren't taking the idea to a its full potential, just rehashing it with a few welcome, but meaningless improvements.
I used to be a pretty big fan of the mod but I can't see myself ever buying standalone now. victim of its own success I guess.
Edit: Killboard doesn't really make any sense since shooting newspawns at the coast is a bit too easy
I'm not really sure what you were expecting to see at this point.
Had my character for 6 weeks. Me and Kerrigan went to meet up with Jackie Chan, a bug killed Jackie, some bandits shot at Kerrigan. Phoenix joined us and went looking for the bandits, I also went looking for the bandits from the other direction... Phoenix says 'oh my god I see one of them!', I hear a bang, I'm dead haha. CHEERS GUYS!!!!!!yeah im sooo sorry about that mate, i swear it was not a byz-GK conspiracy! :(
yeah im sooo sorry about that mate, i swear it was not a byz-GK conspiracy! :(
Like the mod used to. It was always quite a nice feeling to be high up on the kills board.I always saw that as a list of players who don't know how to play the game. I have had some characters live for ages without ever killing a zombie.
I always saw that as a list of players who don't know how to play the game. I have had some characters live for ages without ever killing a zombie.
Yeah but that can involve just not playing the game for a long period. For instance I had a character alive for 3 months because I didn't log in as I was in India. Came back and didn't realise it would have kept counting. I think zombie kills reflects more that you've at least been doing something.Obviously I mean alive as in having playtime with the character without dying for a long time. If you play smart you never have to shoot zombies. If you have spent any time hunting players you know that it is the shooting of zombies that allows you to locate them easily and take them out, so naturally you avoid doing that yourself.
Kinda interesting video about the hunger mechanics.Fixed for you(click to show/hide)
Wtf, that makes it look like and if Mosin has no range limit.well in real life its effective range is 500-800m
Good lord how can you guys even play this with the ridiculous negative mouse acceleration which affects only the x-axis, I can't aim for shit and it pisses me off everytime I try to turn my character. The option to turn of mouse acceleration just stays on 'on'. Does anybody have a magical fix for this retarded crap, don't know if I can be bothered turning around at piss speed all the time.
I swear they have spent months doing that "standalone" thing and haven't even started fixing the two most evident issues with DayZ
Its in the oven, just wait.
You're not supposed to. You've died - supporting that kind of metagaming negates the impact of permadeath. If you manage to get your gear, consider yourself VERY lucky.
Jey, I just bought DayZ yesterday and played it a bit... I always play alone till now and I'd like to have some guys I am allowed to play with... please respond if I could play with You!play with jackie, he is addicted, or play with centurii huehuehue
play with jackie, he is addicted, or play with centurii huehuehuehey im not addicted! i just have 123 hours of gameplay already :(
I find it most enjoyable when we got a team of 3 or more. Then start going for the airfields or military bases for pvp :D
Kamenka best place to get killed earlybolota airfield is 1st
Quite often I'll spend a little while gathering everything I need to kick ass...Then I'll die to some sniper I cant see. This is why 3rd person sucks, you should try 1st person only servers.
One time I was being sniped at while in a town. I had a feeling he was sniping me from a hill into the town I was scavenging in... I sneaked up the hill and couldn't find him, while up there suddenly he stood up infront of me, shot me with a mosin and my screen went black as I heard the two pistol shots I managed to fire off as I died.. Doubt I hit him though.
and as the 1 player who was trying to stay on lookout tried to move to camp my body, he got ambushed by someone with an M4.
actualy once i spawned in middle of mainland , so its 95 % across the coast
A few of my most interesting sessions in the DayZ mod were playing alone and going full predator mode on a full 1st person server. You don't need all that good gear bullshit everybody is always chasing. Once you get it, you get so scared of dying that the game gets boring as hell. Just grab a Makarov, an axe, a shotty or whatever shitty farmer gun you can find, if you are sneaky enough it all gets the job done. Headphones up loud, get into Elektro or Cherno and keep your eyes and ears peeled while you move around quietly. Sniping from a hill is gay as fuck, hunting in a town is the most intense, adrenaline filled shit ever. Gets really tactical if you have been spotted, have to be predict what they are going to do while trying to be unpredictable yourself. Zombies around you everywhere add another dimension.
As soon as you're on a third person server all the epicness is boom gone. Huge advantage to anyone that is camping, completely ruins the experience.
Backpack inception sounds like a paradise for people that want to gather everything
Playing Arma 3 again makes me depressed for the state Dayz SA is in. I wish they'd made it on Arma 3 engine.I really dont understand why BI didnt just hand them RV3 engine, it feels way more fluid and animations are far less clunky.
I really dont understand why BI didnt just hand them RV3 engine, it feels way more fluid and animations are far less clunky.
They aint never gonna get rid of the base faults of arma2, ie. i just accidentally run thru the wall, zombies just clipping thru houses and so on..
He has backing from BI, so any new stuff he doesnt know about RV3 they could tell he, and i used to do my own missions for both OFP and Arma 2 and the Real Virtuality hasnt really changed that drastically, you could basically use the same scripts from OFP in arma2.
The arma 3 engine isnt exempt of defaults...
Rocket is a veteran user of the arma 2 engine and knows how to use it to get where he wants to.
The few examples of bugs you quote can be answered with one word : ALPHA. It will be resolved before release obviously.
Yeah, it feels kinda silly that they decided to add berry picking to a fucking zombie survival game. While you can barely find any zombies, and those few you actually run into are bugged as fuck.
beautiful sunrise this morning in Svetlojarsk(click to show/hide)
They should add some animation or something while player is logging out. If someone is not using ingame voice chat, but has to stop and type it's kinda impossible to tell if he is logging off while being robbed, or just typing something.
Since the combat logging fix wasn't fully explained in the notes

better understand why its so easy to become reset, dunno how many times it happend to me, i guess cus i was relogging/changing server too fast -_-
oh yes.
yeah according to the comments its an ooold test session from before SA was released, the backpack is the ACU from the mod :p
i know there might not be any other players on the server and stuff but i still think that its running pretty good considered the amount of Zs with their animation and AI and so on and so on
...Fuck yea!
Environment: New rock textures
...
hmm maybe it is worth playing day z again?
I hope they add vehicles soon (and more zombies). Played some dayz mod again lately, aww so nice to play the mod. Just looking for servers takes some time...
i fail to see how pvp is the heart and soul of dayz.
im tempted to call you a noob
CRPG IS ABOUT BUILDING SIEGE TOWERS!
i fail to see how pvp is the heart and soul of dayz.If you think there is any other danger in DayZ than other players you must be a noob. Remove the zombies and the game wouldn't be a much different experience.

CRPG IS ABOUT BUILDING SIEGE TOWERS!
do like the rest of the nabcakes: spend some hours running around only searching for that one rifle so that you can go to some bambie location and shoot newspawns or go electro and sit in a tower and snipe randoms, cos thats really hard and exactly what dayz is about.
did i say it was hard? i think its fun.
dayz as a FPS? lololol.
noobs.

I think whatever they thought to make firearm aim hard will be cooler than the "perfect shooting center point" most games have.
See Insurgency for example. Great game.
Okay, so, been playing DayZ again. Now that the mouse accel is gone, it's a lot better than the mod was. Quickslots are great, weapons don't get stuck on doors so CQB is possible, etc etc...
However, one MAJOR con: can't find anyone! Seriously. In the mod, you had Stary Sobor and the Airfield where everyone went for high-end loot, and as a result they were interesting and dangerous to loot, and also good for being a bandit. But now in the stand-alone, and I suspect that is the reason, military bases and camps are everywhere so the players are super spread out. I've had my character alive for 15+ hours, I've ran everywhere on the map almost, most places multiple times (airfield, Stary Sobor, Balota airfield... even went to the two biggest coastal cities, NOBODY there on a full server, wtf? Used to ALWAYS find people there on the mod) and sweet Jesus, I've only seen two people. One of them was on the coast and just spawned, one I saw briefly in some random village before he disappeared. To compare, if I'd done the same route in the mod I'd have ran into ~50 people, easily. And these are full servers...
Is there a new hotspot people go to, or are we just going to have to wait for a patch to add something that can only be gotten from 1-2 places? Because you can only loot the same buildings so many times carefully until you get super bored after not seeing players in forever. And because there's not much loot right now, you get the best stuff after one Airfield trip...
Only "high end" loot are long range scopes that seem to only spawn on the ATC towers.
Huh, I see them lying around on the floor of military tents all the time.

How is the game now anyway, did they fix the awkward mouse shit yet?
Never played in third person servers in DayZ if it was up to me, gives a huge edge to campers compared to people roaming, an edge which is big enough anyway. Getting spotted by people that are impossible for you to see. People pre-aiming their leans, no fucking thanks. Usually people suck at abusing third person though and it actually gives me an edge, but it just feels so wrong and lame.I don't know, I find the camper thing pretty 50-50. In about half the situations, third person helps with checking the usual camp-corners before going in. But cities like Berezino are super gay with third person for sure.
How is the game now anyway, did they fix the awkward mouse shit yet?
u/twelvecount: Do you see yourselves beefing up your staff to tackle the other aspects of the game like vehicles and base building in the way that you handled the hunting and zombie AI pathing?
Rocket: So that is what we have been doing over the last three months. It is one of the reasons that development had seemed like it had slowed. The studio is now about 160 people we had a team building event last weekend. It is kind of crazy to see everyone in one spot. I guess the big news that we’ve been telling here at E3 is that we’re actually moving to a new engine. It is called infusion. So that is going to allow us to do DirectX 10 and 11. It is going to allow us to do dynamic lighting, which means no more flashlights going through walls, proper dynamic shadows, stuff like that. So it really kind of opens a lot of possibilities for us and I think it is going to allow us to deal will a lot of those issues. We had to decide, did we want to do a lot of little short term fixes or did we want to focus on the architecture. Given the success of the early access we felt like we really had to invest in the future.
Q: With the new engine is it based on your current tech or is it a complete rip out of everything and rewriting it?
Rocket: It is a complete rip out of everything, but we’re definitely leveraging existing tech. So if you look at Bohemia as a studio they actually acquired a great number of other studios, so really were kind of looking around and taking up tech that is available there and mixing it into the engine, rewriting new stuff from scratch that we want to do as well.
Q: When are you looking at getting the new engine into experimental and then pushed out to stable.
Rocket: It will kind of come in a modular fashion over time.
u/twelvecount: This one is specifically addressed to Dean: What are your thoughts on the recent successes of Early Access and what effect do you see it having on indie gaming in the near future?
Rocket: The most awesome thing about it is it allows you to really alter your scope for developing a game. The example I use is KSP. When those guys were developing it, it has quite a small scope. If they had completed it completely and then released it, it would have had a very small scope. The fact that is released early means that when it a big success they were able to adjust the scope so the game could become so much bigger. It is kind of the same with DayZ and o lot of these other games. It allows really risky propositions to get made. Which I think is one of the most fantastic things about early access. However there are definite problems for the consumers and developers when it comes to early access. We are only just starting to see some of those problems now.
Q: Do you think that DayZ was released to early?
Rocket: There was sort of a physiological and emotional barrier for us in getting is out in a year. We needed to go away. We’d been crunching for a long time we needed to go away at Christmas and spend time with our families. We really needed to cross that barrier ourselves. If you stay out of the public to long, I think we would have lost a lot of good will with our core audience. Our core audience, I think they are happy with the progress. They see us tackling the big issues, going at the architecture, those kinds of things. I think that those people understand that. If we focus on, I guess, the wider audience you are never going to make them happy. I think the release time was good. I think that we committed to too low a price initially. I think the Planetary Annihilation model, pricing it very high so you get much smaller numbers might have made more sense, but the problem was we committed very early. I don’t know, I might be wrong with it. I kind of feel like if we’d have been able to restrict the audience a little bit, we thought about restricting the number of keys, but that seemed quite unfair.
u/phobus666: What's the status of internal testing 64-bit servers?
Rocket: It’s done. It’s tested and I think the test is totally successful.
Q: How much does that help you add entities to the world?
Rocket: It is kind of like breaking through to another level. It allows us options for future architecture. If we didn’t do it there is a lot we can’t do. We’re stuck within the RAM boundaries that we have. We were hitting those when we started introducing physical terrain, started introducing navmesh, increasing the number of items, things like that. We’re pretty much bound at the moment in terms of performance, with some RAM boundaries. 64 Bit does really necessary help us with performance. It opens the doors for once we deal with the performance issues we can then triple the number of loot spawns, triple the number of zombies and animals.
u/phobus666: How far are they with implementing new navmesh (pathfinding)?
Rocket: The AI pathfinding has been written. We’re using an open source solution, navmesh along with …detour. It’s a very, very smart open source solution that’s been developed. I think the guy who is developing that now works for Star Citizen, so he’s pretty good. That is actually done. What we need to do now is writing the routines that allow the zombies to use that navmesh system. We’re also wring in that their navmesh system…so that dynamic objects like other players, zombies, and physics can actually be included in that navmesh. This is all provided by that open source system. It is pretty exciting for us. We have been focused on fixing the bugs in the current experimental build. We are actually very hopeful that any day now we will be pushing out an update. Unfortunately, the time difference is making it very difficult for us to talk with the team, but their committed at the moment to pushing out an update for the rubber banding issue that is on experimental. We’re very excited for when that is going to happen because that means we can finally get all of the new stuff that is there now on stable.
u/NikoGT: Most doors in real life have simple locks on them, but in DayZ doors do not currently have the ability to be locked. Will exterior doors be equipped with basic locks by full release? If so, will they be destructible by zombies and players? What other things would/will you add to lockable doors if they are introduced?
Rocket: We’ve been looking at doing doors in DayZ and how we implement them. I think probably Project Zomboid has a really good implementation of doors and windows. So the Zombies will path through door and the window, but they will sort of pile up around the door and bang at the door until it breaks. We are looking at how we work in lockable door and lockable containers as well. So we’ll develop a prototype of that.
u/NikoGT: How many zombies do you plan to have on the map at once at the end of development? As a reference, how many are currently on the map now? Also, are there any complex AI features the zombies will be having in the future? For example, will you be able to hide from a zombie's line of sight to hide, distract a zombie with sound/light, find loot on zombies, etc.
Rocket: I would say that we are looking at probably increasing the amount of zombies by a factor of somewhere between five and ten of what we currently have now. We need to have our multithread, multicore implemented for that. Every new thing we are developing we are developing with multithread and multicore in mind. An Example being the pathfinding and later the zombie behavior. We are looking at being able to implement the stuff from the mod. You can distract zombies through throwing stuff, noises, placing a radio on the ground and talking through it. That kind of stuff.
u/NikoGT: What is the current status of persistent items? What items do you plan on making persistent, and how soon will we see some form of it on experimental?
Rocket: Persistent items has been something we have been prototyping. We’ve prototyped the a couple of times and tested them on the experimental severs. That will continue. It is something that we have tentatively planned for the end of June update, but we just need to see how we go with the current bugs with the current build that we have.
u/NikoGT: A few months ago you released a roadmap. Have you finished at the pace you were expecting, or are things taking longer than expected? What features are ahead of schedule, which features are behind schedule? Are there any major milestones that have changed?
Rocket: We are kind of on track in terms of development with the road map, but we’re not on track in terms of delivery to stable. So we are continuing to develop at the pace we’d like, but we’re not getting what we have developed through to stable. So there is something we need to improve on a bit. I guess that is kind of expected.
u/NikoGT: Are world containers, such as refrigerators and cabinets, going to be persistent objects, much like a tent in the mod? Will the items I put into one of these objects stay like that after a server reset, acting as a permanent storage place? Also, by full release, will refrigerators actually cool down objects and refrigerate them, opening the door for spoilage?
Rocket: World containers are working sort of as a prototype. We need to go through all of the building and add them to the map. At the moment refrigerators are attached as a model inside the building, not as an actually entity. We need to write a script that is going to place world containers in all of those positions.
u/NikoGT: Will sleep and fatigue be a feature of the game? Will players have a need for sleep like the need for food and water?
Rocket: I’m not really sure what the status with that is. That’s up to our lead designer Peter as to how we implement that. Basically it is something we want to implement at the engine level and not the scripted level.
u/NikoGT: Are drugs still planned for the game?
Rocket: Drugs are still planned. Same with Alcohol.
u/NikoGT: Will there be non-lethal weaponry?
Rocket: Non-lethal weaponry is also planned.
u/NikoGT: A while back you mentioned new player races. When are those going to be implemented?
Rocket: Those are in progress. Actually to get some high definition reference we have actually taken picture of a few members of the development team. Their likenesses are going to be put in game and they look pretty cool. Including adding hair and stuff like that.
u/NikoGT: Of all the features you will be adding between now and final release, what are you most excited about, and why?
Rocket: I think barricading is going to add a massive amount to the game. So that’s something that I really want to see come through.
u/NikoGT: Will it ever be possible to craft arrows from sticks for the improvised bow?
Rocket: It will be possible to craft arrows from sticks and the improvised bow.
u/NikoGT: When traps are implemented in the future, will they be a persistent item? Also, will it be possible to craft "shotgun tripwire" traps, or anything similar to that?
Rocket: Traps are planned pretty much in line with what we have got with the mod.
u/NikoGT: Will barricading by physics based? Will I be able to take the tables and chairs in a building and literally drag them in the world to block doors, or will I build barricades in front of doorways?
Rocket: Barricading will be physics based. I think a good reference to go to for how we are looking at doing that is Dead Linger. They have a very good barricading system. Great zombie type game on Steam, early access as well. That has been a very big source of inspiration for how to approach Barricading.
u/NikoGT: You recently said you are planning on removing the action menu system entirely. Please give us a few examples (other than chopping down trees) of ways you will be doing this. Opening doors, gathering items, starting a car engine, opening a world container, etc.
Rocket: Changes to the action menu are planned.
u/-PA-Mikhail: Any new revolutionary ideas for your future games apart from Airport simulator and Mountaineering simulator?
Rocket: The first games might be quite simple. The idea is to setup a studio and find some really good people to some work at the studio. You need kind of a simple game to put together to get the juices flowing. I am really fascinated by Space Station 13 and the idea of context gaming, really rich experience very much inspired by EVE online. I really want to explore that in the multiplayer space. I think to get to that point there is a lot that I need to learn and assemble a team together as well.
They're not really moving to a new engine. Rocket's talking about the new renderer, which isn't exactly news -- but nobody would get what a "renderer" is, so he's saying "engine" for the computer illiterates. Also, better PR.As a computer illiterate I have to ask, does this mean that the game will continue to be shitty and awkward due to a crappy engine?
Im getting really tired of this shit. Oh lets add veggies and more useless melee weapons, meanwhile the game is still desloate with a minimum ammount of zombies that still port trough the fucking walls. I brake both my fucking legs from opening a door and every server crashes every half hour. Still no cars so you to walk everywhere for hours bored out of your fucking mind.
And they still get defended because aparently being "Alpha" is a free pass for continuously ignoring every pressing mayor issue the community points out in favor of adding more useless bullshit nobody wants. Why did they even bother making a standalone game when they didnt fix none of the glaring engine issues? Oh yea because Rocket is a money grubbing cockmunching whore.
On the other hand, Rust is developing very nicely. They've redone the game completely and are progressing really fast with new features and content (they do weekly content blogs/patches). I know it's not really the same game (much more sandbox though!), but it's worth checking out, if you haven't. Imo Rust is going to go further than DayZ, if you judge by what was developed in the past few months.
DayZ did put quite a few new items, guns and gear in, and a couple of new features, but in the end I would say Arma 3 DayZ like mods are just as good, considering they're free (given that you have Arma 3).
And DayZ will always be limited by the shitty arma(2) engine.
Have rust bought, ill install it again i guess
Is the game still shit? Are they even working on it or did they settle with the money theyve already made and just chuggingpisscoffee at their desks not really working on any valuable changes? Will the game ever have decent zombies etc?
I never played the game, ive seen a lot of it though, it has one of the best concepts/most potential out there atm, but it has too many issues for me to bother with yet.
Played it when it got out and havent touched it since

For now though, I'd say the Breaking Point Arma 3 mod is roughly 10x better... I think its made by one guy too. Those Arma 3 mods are definitely comparable. "Better" is subjective. I still prefer DayZ because the Arma 3 mods I've seen give too much stuff too quickly, so death loses its meaning. But yeah, it's pretty amazing that 1-guy mods can compete with DayZ SA...
So me and Iza broke DayZ the other day. This has been happening for a long time. The best servers are those where this bug happens in barrackses.
Walked into a police station, the entire building flashed, went invisible then re-spawned with every single item that is possible to spawn in a police station. There were easily around 20 guns, hundreds of cans, ammunition, rangefinders, clothing, drinks, weapon adds, scopes etc etc
This happened to anyone else?
Hey guys I followed therse instructions (http://www.reddit.com/r/dayz/comments/1u1vej/how_to_get_3050fps_on_a_5_year_old_laptop_at/) and it has been awesome so far, constant 60 fps on my laptop. If anyone has preformance issues i recommend this. I followed everything to the letter except the draw distance which i kept high so i can see stuff far away, still worked like a charm.
