Hello all,
Previously on cRPG, I was a heavy cavalry, wearing black armour. I was relieved to sell all my armour as it was super-boring and couldn't afford the upkeep. This is fine but a bit too expensive. In regards to weapons I am not so sure as to the upkeep prices. I played for about 7 minutes, and I lost around 2,000 gold for using my Flamberge. The new Gold/Exp:Upkeep ratio really needs balancing.
Suggestions:
- I believe that upkeep is a good idea on the whole, but the prices are rediculous. So balance here would be nice.
- In my opinion, weapons should not have upkeep (or minimal), as they were easily maintained in a real life scenario.
Thats all, Thankyou :)

The use of the upkeep is that there arent any blackarmor guys anymore.Or only few.

And you think that has anything to do with the above post because of? :?

Weapon upkeep needs to stay, tbh, everyone and their dog owning the best toptier weapons is just as bad as everyone in the best armour. Now you have to make choices whether you prefer a better weapon or better armour, sounds reasonable to me.

The money I lost in upkeep was when I just used a flamberge; no armour/clothes.

about upkeep... i'm OK with it. suggestion: if it's going to be cheap(er), let both teams get upkeep at the end of round - losing team more, winning less

Shit, I had 2400 gold when I came to game after patch. And after first round I lose 2000 to repair my throwing axes. Hate you chadz (thats not a joke)

toptier? Weapons are all good, it's just how the person chooses to use them, e.g. I have seen a poorly skilled person wearing mail, die to a peasant who had a falchion. Not to mention the best armour costs 34k. The most expensive melee weapon (Not necessarily the best, costs 15k; Flamberge.) Whilst equipping that and ONLY that, I was still losing gold very rapidly. So I personally express my opinion that weapon upkeep is unnecessary. If one can't use a decent weapon without losing money, how can he be expected to make money and enjoy the game? I know I'd hate to use a pitchfork continuously.
Overall, I see this patch having a mammoth potential. And I would like to thank chadz for putting the effort in. :)

Example for screwed balance:
Nordic Fighter Helmet
Lamellar Vest
Mail Gauntlets
Mail Chausses
Long Iron Mace
Round Shield
played 7 rounds, got about 1.5K Gold
repairing the gear costs 1.750K Gold
I dont think that my gear is overpowered, it wasnt too exspencive too.
Less gear is quite hard to use for a pure melee guy.
Imho the upkeep system which is atm online makes the game unplayable, unless your an xbow man or archer.
ps: The new archery animation is cool!

After 3 hours of playing (distributed over 4-5 sessions), I was able to upkeep a 8K horse, 3.5K crossbow (heirloomed, but I'm not sure if it affects price), 5k longsword (heirloomed), 1k worth of armour and bolts (occasionally normal 150 gold ones, occasionally 2k gold ones) and actually earn money (maybe 8K extra).
I would not say upkeep is too stringent.

Why to change something that works?

Ok, I have to apologize!
The upkeep system isn't that screwed, playing some rounds with my crossbow gave a shitload of gold.
We won several rounds in a row, that gave every round gold and xp x 5.
With this amount of gold it wouldn't be hard to maintain my melee gear.
The real income over time will propably be sufficient, assuming you'll win at least 50% of the rounds.
I'm sorry, my previous post is wrong.

Taking my words back. Damn, I like it. Less tincans and heavy horses. No annoying HA and less archers. Most ppl have medium and light armors so skill is neccesary, not a level and armor.

i had the same experience. i raged the first few times i had high repair costs (2k, 2k, 3.6k) then i got smart with my gear.. and even paying those big costs... i got a big 5x streak going and made a ton of cash. now if im on a losing streak, my most expensive item ill risk is my 1.1k pike. sure if everything broke it might cost me 2k... but ill risk it. overall i make big cash.
