Suggestions Corner / Strategus idea

The idea is twofold so please bare with me to get to the good bit

1)  First of all, all non factions members will need to request entry from the owning faction before being able to enter any fief.  Admission to neutral fiefs will be automatic.

2)  The good bit - once inside a fief you are then able to attack anybody else within that fief.

- Battles will consist of 10v10 max (the rest of your army if you have one is camped outside the walls).
- Battles will take place on town streets or inside taverns and will not use tickets (just 1 life each)
- You will not need to buy any weapons or armour for the fight.  Instead, all participants will get unlimited access to various items of clothing and 0 slot weapons. Its a brawl, so no real weapons or armour.
- Faction leaders and fief owners will be able to cancel any fight they want by chucking people out of the fief.  The brawls will only ever last a few mins so this shouldn't disrupt much although if people feel its unecessary it can be left out.
- Losers get transported and loose gold/troops like normal.

The idea of this is to give a method (albeit, a risky one) of removing people from neutral fiefs.  Its also a bit of fun and something different from standard Strat Battles.  The first bit is needed to stop randomers entering fiefs and fighting all the local faction members before they can get chucked out.

Diplomacy / Startegus Diplomatic Relations?

Hey all,

Being relatively new to Strategus i'm trying to piece together all the diplomatic relations of the different clans (or at least those that are meant to be public knowledge :wink:).

Suggestions Corner / Shield difficulty

I've not quite thought this through fully so it could be really stupid but why not change Shield difficulties to use Strength rather than Shield Skill and adjust the values accordingly?

It has always seemed a little strange to me that whilst all other items in the game use strength for their difficulty, shields alone use a skill.  To make things even stranger, that skill is agility based.

Why don't we therefore bring shields into line with all other items, doubling (or even trippling) their difficulties and making them strength based.  E.g. 10 (or 15 if trippled) strength to use the Huscarl Shield.

The shield skill would still be required to make shields last more than 1 hit in melee combat so true shielders should still have an advantage over opportuistic people grabbing a handy shield to hide behind.

The possible pros I can think of are
- no more excuses for 2 Handers vs Ranged
- more variation possible in shield builds
- possibly more hybrids in the game and less extreme builds
- more flexibilty in char builds

Cons could be
- Archers might end up over nerfed (in terms of shot speed) as everybody has a shield they have time to put up when they see an arrow flying slowly towards them.

Sorry if this has been suggested before but why not include the heavier armour as taking up a slot.

You could have a rule where if you wear

a helmet with an armour value over 20
OR
boots/greaves with an armour value over 25
OR
gloves with an armour value over 5
OR
body armour with an armour value over 30

then that counts as taking up 1 slot.

Just designate the items breaking the rules as taking up a slot but make sure that they do not stack with each other so the max slots taken up by armour is 1.

That would balance things out and reduce the importance of upkeep which is proving to be a nightmare to balance.
