Why does it bother some in this community so bad that other people like to wear samurai themed armor?  Does it remind you of how you were as a kid and you're full of self loathing or something?  Does it really impact your enjoyment of the game that much to see that particular armor?  I've never used any of the gear in question personally, but I can see how it would be fun for some, so why not let them?

To the OP:

I agree with most of your reasons for removing it, but I don't think it is distasteful and ruinous to the atmosphere of the game.  It's a medieval combat game with armor and weapons influenced by many cultures from far around the world.  Why not Japan?  They make some pretty kick ass shit over there.

As Zisa said, it was in M&B originally, just rare.  So keep it rare in cRPG as well.  It's not that common in most of the games I play in already, but if you really feel like something needs to be done, I suppose you could just make it more expensive like you did with the dresses and such.  I too dislike strange armor showing up for NPC villages, but I'm sure there is another way to deal with that issue that wouldn't involve removing it from the game completely.

The goal of Strategus battles shouldnt be to deprive your enemies of players, but to have full roster both sides and have the gear/tactics/strategy win the day rather than lack of merc support.

Nice - I would appreciate it.

But I still have one concern... As ugly as these armors are, they seem to attract quite a lot of new players. Or, at the least, I feel I see new players using these regularly before they turn to something else. I guess its since its so exotic, so perhaps find some better looking ones in the future? (Like some of the rest said)

We are thinking of removing the Strange Armour sets because the models...

  • are low quality and originally made for a .808 mod for the original M&B.
  • are not from native so they have no excuse to be low quality.
  • may have been ripped from some crappy asian MMO game.
  • are, by many people, considered distasteful and ruinous to the atmosphere of the game, particularly in strategus village battles.
  • are non-historical and are least fitting with the general theme of Native.

(present heirloom ones would be turned into the corresponding amount of heirloom points, of course.)

OMG! If this stolen armours are a reason to remove items, then we have to remove all the Ninja stuff. As much as I LOVE seeing Ninjas on medieval battlefields, I have to inform you that Morrowind (2002) already used the Ninja equipment, and someone ripped it for M&B (2008).

Here is the evidence:

So brokenheartedly I have to request to remove those fabulous Ninja armours and weapons, too. I think I won't be able to laugh again for the rest of my life seeing those wonderful items go, but that's still better than being sued.

If you support my request please vote positive on this post.

While I agree with the removal of Asian filth from the game, it could be construed as racism. The Asian community of players might not like having their crappy weapons taken away.

Indeed. Do you see how his left foot is already going Ninja mode?

Oh! You don't! because it's Ninja mode!

Then this game is also racist towards Vikings, American Indian, Indian Indians, Africans, Persians, Romans, Ancient Greeks, Scottish Highlanders, Inuit, Wood Elves, Vampires, Werewolves and Power Rangers.

1. Samurai's existed GET OVER IT japanophobes.
2. m&b has NEVER been a historical game. its inspired by historical cultures, japan is a historical culture just like the others.
3. why remove pretty much the only visual variety currently in the game?

I only first downloaded this mod because I wanted to be a ninja. Does anyone remember when CRPG used to be about FUN? dressing up, making crazy characters and NOT collecting hierlooms? you know before all the realism douchebags did stuff like remove crossdressing. well this is some nostalgia for you...

I'm all for replacing the models with better more realistic, but removal is just further killing the mod.
