General Discussion / Re: Good players supposed to be rewarded?

Q_Q some more about gold/xp gains. So many butthurt babies that can't face roll an entire team in the best gear. The playing field is a bit more even now.

Your reward for killing people is seeing your name higher up on the scoreboard.

General Discussion / Re: New Xbow Damage
« on: January 17, 2011, 10:23:45 pm »

I'll admit I was a little lucky. Before the nerf, I used an Exceptional Crossbow. When heirlooms were reset, I was able to upgrade to an Exceptional Heavy Crossbow, so I've barely lost any damage since the big patch. Players with Siege Crossbows have lost a lot.

That's exactly it. A lot of people (ranged/melee/whatever) used to rely on their gear to kill people. Now it actually takes some skill. I'm fairly certain that was the entire purpose of this patch, weapon nerfs, upkeep, et al. To make the game less gear dependent and more on skill/teamplay dependant

Nope, only harsh language.

19
Yes, 43k worth of gear is mid-high without a doubt.

Their numbers don't match what I'm seeing ingame. I'm calling it like it is for me, not trying to tell other players they're wrong.

Because you're using mid to mid-high range gear which is gonna cost you to use ALL THE TIME. That's the entire point. :)

This is not a whine thread.

Im merely here to say, Archers, Can you please stop shooting into melee?
Nearly a good 50% of my deaths come from either being stunlocked by the arrow and then killed by the enemy, or just outright being oneshotted by some idiot who thinks he is a pr0 l333t archer who can 720 noscope into crowds. This isnt call of duty, so please, stop this bullshit.

Okay, but when you run up to my archer you need to sheath your weapons and only use harsh language to damage me.

It was an appropriate response to your long straw man argument.

Who said they wanted their Grade A gear AND the horses each round? I didn't. Huey didn't. Hell, I even said that with only a white tunic over mail and a melee weapon in case of dishorsing, I'm losing money fast.

We understand the concept of low-upkeep gear.

We're saying the cost of unarmored horse upkeep is too high. Simple enough?

What everyone seems to be telling you is that your concept of "low gear" is not what others consider "low gear". People have given you hard numbers proving you wrong. You're wrong plain and simple and yet all you do is put your fingers in your ears and sing "lalalalalalalal im not listening"

General Discussion / Re: Killing riderless horses mid-round

I shoot all horses dead and there's nothing you can do to stop me

Kalam! It should be... but right now, wearing only a white tunic with mail, mail chausses, no helmet, no gloves, heavy lance, Steel Pick backup, and heirloomed Norman shield - I cannot make money on a Sarranid. I can play about 5 rounds before I'm down several thousand gold and have to go Pilgrim Robe peasant again...

Huey, I'm glad you made a thread, man. I've been feeling the same way.
- Horse Charge was OP and needed a nerf.
- Armored Cav was OP (because of Horse Charge + armor) and needed a nerf.
- Light Cav was never a problem. Look at one angrily and it will drop dead. Working as intended.
- The cost of Light Cav needs to be lowered.

Then why do you still see 10+ cav/team every single round over and over and over again?

Just make the arrows fly where you aim at. No silly auto aim pls. Will make archery that much chalenging and fun to play.

There's auto aim?  :?:

totally agree. Some people dont even try to find a cover, change a direction of run from time to time, turn ur shield in the right direction or at least run with the whole team. They are not doing any of the survival tips and then they cry how they been shoot. I play xbow my self and find it hilarious when guy runs towards me in a straight line and expect me to miss, or an archer thad dont change his position long enough for me to snipe his head off. it is fairly common. those whining ppl are those who charge the enemy with their 5 other brainless mates when the rest of the team is taking the hill

Yup.

I tend to play an "assault archer", meaning I like to move up with da boyz and fire into melee. That being said, I will disengage from whoever I'm currently shooting at to fire on 2handers running out in the open to penalize them for being so stupid :) I'm fairly certain other archers do the exact same thing

I shot an archer wearing a black robe and no gloves in the chest with a double heirloomed siege xbow. He lived, shot me twice while I was wearing mail, and I died.

A likely story. FRAPS or it didn't happen. I can believe the no killing him part with 2 shots if he had some crazy amounts of IF, or if you were just VERY unlucky and the 2nd shot glanced him.

But him 2 shotting you in mail from full health just doesn't happen unless the 2nd shot was a headshot. Headshots fro some reason don't always trigger the headshot kill message and that's probably what happened here.

If your gettign targetted by 6 different archers.. its your problem.
1. Your away from your team... making you stand out.
2. Your trying to cross an open field, with no care for cover.
3. Your the only guy left on your side.
4. Your think your skilled enough too pull off a round house kick like Chuck Norris.

This is basically the learn2play checklist ;) I like it.

Seriously though, there are SO many players that will just run with a 2hander in straight line out in the open with no care for cover, or erratic movement. That's just asking to be shot because you're making yourself a VERY easy target.

But that's the point Kesh! Archery has been nerfed into mainly a support role but a large section of crpg players continue to play as an archer. The question is why?

Because it's fun to play? Same question can be asked to why SO MANY players play cav, or 2hander, or ninja, or... For fucks sake this crying about every aspect of the game is godamn annoying. Just play the fucking game to have fun.

I personally enjoy playing an archer because it actually takes skill to hit and possibly kill people in a giant melee clusterfuck without killing your own teammates.

lol
i wanna play a game where skill matters, warband melee is amazing because it takes the most skill out of any game i ever played, archery ruins it because anybody whos bad at the game can play an archer and zerg down any player whos already fighting someone else.

i dont care what is done, just fucking nerf it, its annoying to get close to someone, pull out your shield and get insta shot by 6 different archers every fucking rounds.

a big damage reduction would be awesome, a speed nerf would help, an accuracy nerf would be terrible, making upkeep cost less could also indirectly help (melee focused with 5 IF getting 2 shotted is REALLY fun)

the thing i HATE about archery is the fact that any retard can point and shoot and kill anyone and they cant do shit about it unless they are an archer themselves. i hate everything that removes skill, i hated magic in darkfall, i hate archery in warband, i hate variance in poker, get it?

Go play some other game then. Q_Q I got shots Q_Q If you're being hit 6 times by archers WITH a shield you're a godawful player to begin with.
